Drove out to Moorpark today for a 12:40 tee time to play as a threesome using a coupon I received via their email list — @20% off green fee regular rate, lunch and warmup balls for $65 M-Th (Friday $79, weekends / holidays $89.) The Canyon nine was closed for the day so all play was on the Ridgeline and Creekside nines. I don't think I'd been out there in about two years, but the course is high on my list and I was happy to have an excuse to make out there again. It didn't disappoint. Playing the whites, the tee boxes were level with nice coverage. Fairways were in very nice shape, gave a fair amount of rollout and I don't recall seeing a brown or really thin spot all day. Rough varied as rough does, but was generally thick and long enough to be a little grabby and penalizing. I missed the bunkers but observed them as well groomed, clean and on the firm side. Areas around the greens were good for short game. I noticed some of the putting surfaces were a bit marked up but, in the main, were very nice. They ran pretty true and were quick — my guess around 11 on the stimp. Weather was very nice with a light, 1-club breeze. The course was fairly busy but we got around in a little over four hours. Great patio for hanging out in the late afternoon for the post round libation. An all around nice golf day and conditions, I highly recommend the course right now.

Rode the blues at 1:20 (Canyon Crest/Ridgeline)with my three sons, POP 4 hours 37 minutes. Greatest day golfing I ever had. I have never played this course. Recently I played Tierra Rejada, Rustic Canyon, Knollwood and Olivas Links. This was by far my favorite. It was aerated last week and some of the greens still showed it, but the layout is my favorite. As far as the conditions, the tee boxes were level, but a couple were overgrown, fairways and rough lush, sand traps great, from a far thank god. The greens that made a comeback from aeration rolled true. I’ve learned that this is maintenance season so everything isn’t going to be perfect. Golfing is really about who you play with. I’m lucky my boys like to play. I definitely will be back and highly recommend it. Milton the starter is the best.

Rode the Blacks this afternoon 9/24/2018 for super twilight joined by my buddy RGM2525. We played the Canyon Crest/Creekside combo and had an absolute blast. Weather was perfect around 80 degrees with light winds. POP was around 3 hours 30 minutes.

The greens on both Canyon and Creekside were awesome today. Greens were super slick and quick with very little ballmarks. Its a shame they are punching all 27 holes this week(Ridgeline was done today)--with Creekside and Canyon Crest to follow in the next 2 days.

The fairways are so nice. Padded lush lies with your ball sitting up. Very little problem areas at all. Great shape!

The tees were lush and level. Nice to hit from--most of the 3 par divots were nicely filled in.

The rough is very green, uniform height and healthy in great shape.

Was not in any bunkers but they all looked raked. Playing partner described some as crusty on top with enough sand underneath.

This course is really in great shape. The greens will need some weeks to heal.

I would HIGHLY recommend this course to any golfer. A semi-private course with high end private conditions.

Played 8-13-18 for $35 as a single after 3 oclock playing all three nines in a little over 3 hours. Tee boxes were in descent shape, semi-lush and mostly level. Fairways were in nice shape with good lies, mostly green with some small brown areas. Rough was cut down pretty low with a lot of thin or bare spots. Was in two greenside bunkers both of which were crusty on top and soft underneath. Greens were in just okay shape, they were mostly firm with Creekside being a little softer, and the were rolling medium speed and a little bumpy with some small bare spots on Ridgeline. Overall course is in okay shape for summer time.

Played Ridge/Creek on 6/20. Be advised they will punch greens starting 6/25.

Played Moorpark Creekside and Canyon on 5/29/18 with tee of off scheduled for 9:30. The starter although trying seemed to have problems locating various groups before us thus we were pushed back until 9:50. These courses although similar in setup could not be more different in appearance.

CREEKSIDE.. Fairways seemed to be rather thin,slightly brown and had plenty of roll. Lies were tight and provided some challenging second shots. The rough on this 9 really does not come in to play as it is hardly visible.

Bunkers, mixed bag of fair to poor sand, heavy,brown and quite thin for my liking. Several showed under lining and appeared not to have been raked.

Greens , just fair in my book, greenish brown or yellow, several unrepaired ball marks with plenty of dry areas or even dead areas around the edges and rather slow. TEE BOXES good with plenty of grass coverage with surprisingly little damage to be noted and quite level. I would say pay attention to the fairway alignment to the tee though several require a good look to get your barring.

CANYON. Fairways are green with great coverage providing good lies. The biggest difference here is the rough, green heavy and quite penal, long enough to lose your ball.

BUNKERS, were dry with lite brown sand with plenty of coverage. Some are deep and others are rather shallow but all gave fair chances for different types of recovery shots.

GREENS, in my opinion a mixed bag of good to maybe great. Held shots well and spinning the ball was little to no problem. Much faster than Creekside with plenty of break. For both courses you certainly want to remain below the hole, down hill putts here are horrifying on both courses.

TEE BOXES, Very good again little to no divot damage, level and green.

I would not be willing to pay the rack rate here at this time, but we received a playing rate of 55.00 due to a program they have installed here for Korean players.

Played MPCC on Friday, 4/28/18 with an 8:30am tee time. Pace of play was good at 4 hours for the first 18 holes. We played 27 that day, covering all three nines. The best part of the course right now is the greens. They were fast and rolled smoothly, even though they look strange with a few different colored grasses. The big thing right now is the fairways. They were all verticut to de-thatch about 2 weeks ago. Right now they are thin, yellowish and quite sandy. I was disappointed with them. The pro shop told us they should grow back in nicely in another two to three weeks. Although they are playable, I would rate them a 4 out of 10 at the present moment. The bunkers were filled with a lot of sand but were consistently damp and heavy. A number of the tee boxes were closed and several different tees were clumped together. It was still enjoyable to play, but I would wait a couple of weeks if you want normal MPCC conditions.

I feel like the gripe reviewer here on GK as I keep rating courses with barren fairways in deep dormancy. Well, I finally feel vindicated after a quick round at MPCC. Credit where credit is due, the course is simply excellent from tee to green (yes there are some issues - read on). Shorter review: It's green throughout! (for instance, #1 Creekside is as pretty a golf hole as you will see while standing on the tee). And, they've stripe-mown the rough so it's visually appealing in the way it frames the lighter colored fairways. It's novel to finally play off green turf these days, but it's amazing how much it does for the quality of the strike you get on the ball when you hit it off a serious pad of grass.

Played Ridge/Creek and there are noticeable differences between each. Ridge greens have been verticut recently and lightly to moderately sanded. That said, the greens were still pretty quick and tracking well! The fairways as mentioned are green and on the fuller side, but there were some areas of turf repair on #2 and GURs here and there on 3 & 5. Tees great except on the par 3's which were a bit crowned.

Over on Creek, no sanding/verticut on their greens. However, pins were placed a couple of paces from the edge implying they were readying the surface for some maintenance? Hard to judge the speed after the sandy greens on Ridge - these were sllllick!
Again, green fairways beautifully framed by stripy rough, but 7, 8 & 9 were still coming out of dormancy and thus thinner, harder and greyer than the others.

Also, tees were great here too, except on 3-pars which were crowned; and the sand on each course - while full - had some crusted areas from recent rains and also lots of small pebbles in them.

Got out for 45 super twilight and finished with time to spare in 2.45. These conditions at this price are a steal. Do it and treat yourself to preferential lies for once.

Played MPCC mid morning Monday 2/21/18. Perfect cool weather with only a slight breeze. Overall the course is very playable. I played the Ridgeline and Canyon Crest nines. Tee boxes are fine. Although some were a little hard to get the tee in the ground. Fairways are in nice winter condition. They are somewhat green, but also brown. However, lies in the fairway are good. Fairways are a little thin, with a fair amount of rollout. The one greenside bunker I was in had very adequate firm brown sand. The greens rolled well and were medium fast speed. There were a couple of greens that had been lightly punched and sanded, but didn't have too much affect on line or speed. The rough can be quite thick and green in many areas. Some areas are spotty. But mostly the rough is about 2 to 3 inches and lush. I enjoyed my time on the course.
