Played Rustic today with my visiting buddy, a day after Nick posted his review. He plays there much more often than I do and I generally agree with his overall review, but there were subjective differences. Nick was probably not playing the white tees, as we were, but I found them level and in pretty good shape. I was in the sand in the wash in front of the first green and found it softer and more playable than the green side bunker on hole two, in which my club pretty much bounced off the firm surface, sending my ball thirty yards past the hole. While close examination might reveal some occasional imperfections, I didn't see visible signs of aeration. I've also seen the greens faster, but slow is not a word I would use to describe them. They are still pretty quick by most standards. Getting out around 12:10, we had a foursome out ahead that kept a good pace, and no one really behind us as we got around in 4.25 hours. Saw the cart girl a couple of times. Hot, with a breeze but not windy, it was a good day to be out. I saw nothing that would really make me hesitate to recommend it.

Waked the Blues (6634/71.6/128) in 4h, 15m with Skygolf76 & Sean on their $36 mid day walking rate. Enjoyed the round and meeting Alex after following/reading his blog. POP was very good through 13 holes, then we caught slower groups and waited every shot from 14 on. The temp was in the low 90's but it seemed hotter? While the conditions were not bad, let me start by saying this may have been the worst overall condition I have ever seen Rustic in. The tees were lush & level but very chewed up, many unfixed divots. Both the fairways and the rough are showing signs of the drought, numerous areas were more golden brown than emerald green. They have good coverage but are much more thin than lush. The good is that this produces some long drives. The bad is that anything offline can run right through the rough into an ESA or OB. The traps around the greens were nicely maintained with soft sand. The waste bunkers are hard packed and very playable. The greens had been recently punched with very small holes. They were bumpy and medium slow, some of the slowest greens I have ever putted on @ Rustic. I usually have 3-4' coming back AD on missed putts here, and I rarely got a putt past the hole today. Customer Service was good as usual, they got us out about 45 minutes after we arrived w/o a tee time on a very busy Thursday around noon. Good snack shop on the turn and the drink gal came around a few times. Still good, but far from the great that this course often is.

Played this afternoon 7/20/2015. 25 bucks standard twilight rate, blue tees POP 3 hours 30 minutes walking the first 14 holes--met by a threesome on the back nine and rode in with them the rest of the way. The rain and thunderstorms helped Rustic's tees and fairways! They are lush and in great shape! Very little problem areas. The fringes are very soft and look like they had old maintenance punches that are healing. The greens are very healthy and slow for Rustic's standards but probably average for most courses quickness standards. The greens were holding irons like darts--good shape rolling true. Staff is friendly---the overnight rains really helped out. Was a very fun day today---I'm lucky this course is 5-10 minutes from me--recommended.

POP: Walked the course in 3 hours 5 minutes playing through a 5 some of ladies that waived us up on hole 8. One of my quickest rounds ever walking Rustic.

Greens: 7.5/10--For Rustic's standards they are slow and are healing nicely from being punched. I would give them another week maybe if they roll them and cut them to get back to being firm and fast which they normally are? Another way to look at it is if they keep them this slow and soft for the upcoming heat they might remain in better shape? They were soft today like darts and I actually saw some balls just dig into the greens and stop. I fixed my share of ballmarks but for the most part the greens were in good shape.

Fairways 7/10--Would not call them lush but more semi-lush with some green grass here and there and some brown spots here and there. Driving in from the road they don't look that great but when you are out on the course you notice that there is ample padding in many spots. With water restrictions I think the course is doing a good job.

Tees 7.5/10--They are semi-lush and in good shape---mostly level tees without to much damage.

Bunkers 7/10--Was in two greenside bunkers today that contained some nice soft and deep sand.

Layout 9/10---Love the layout at Rustic---the back nine is one of a kind secluded, long and challenging. I love my home course and would recommend it to anyone.

Wow, best conditions around. They seem to have water while everyone else is as dry as a bone. Greens are healing nicely from aeration and are surprisingly soft and slow for Rustic. Fairways are quite good, sometimes nearly perfect. Rough, tees and traps all very good as well. They have done some minor tweaks to the layout around a few of the green complexes which really enhance the playability nicely...

Course was fun as always. Greens about 80-85% healed from punching. A few putts jumped off line but several held their line. fairways ran firm and fast per usual. Fun challenging layout. Will be back over the weekend and expect quicker greens.

Course is in good shape. Greens are still recovering from punch so they were very slow. Should be great in another week or so. Pace was good for a Saturday. Still a great value.

Played RC Monday June 8. Pace of play xlnt probably because the greens had been punched end of May. End result was that the regularly speedy and true RC greens were a bit on the bumpy side. Things should be improving soon. Fairways very good, sand playable as well as tee boxes. I'd give it a bit more time to heal before the real RC again bares its teeth.
