Didn't see anyone else mention it as it looks like it was done recently, but about half of the greens show signs of needle tine punching. No sand or top dress was visible. Just FYI. Accordingly, while the speed was excellent, the greens had some bumps and were not perhaps as true as they might be otherwise.

Rest of the course is in fair condition (generously, perhaps). Overall, they need to turn on the spigot some more. Aside from the greens most aprons were good but the first four showed signs of significant burning with many brown areas. Tees I thought were good with decent grass coverage and mainly flat. If you play here a lot then you will know what I mean when I say 'typical' sand throughout. Fairways and rough however remain quite sub par. Rough is only healthy around the greens. Otherwise, both fairways and rough are, well, rough. Lots of dead growth and hard as rocks. I would welcome an improvement in these 2 areas.

Sunny 68 degree day. Windy as per usual. 15-20 with gusts up to 30. Started on the back nine. Grass range in great condition. Love the chipping area. In general , the winds comes down from the highest end of the golf course (13th green) and funnels down towards the front gate. However the winds seems to swirl and change directions on the front nine more than I remembered in the past. Greens firm, fast and true. Maybe a bit too fast given the windy conditions. Hard to hold greens down wind, even if landing short of the green. Black/blue/white tee box on hole 2 under construction. No problem, gives the opportunity to drive the green from the red tees. Fairways, hard and sparse. Rough, dormant and sparse. THe 2 bunkers that I hit into had consistent sand quality. Overall, had a good experience and will continue to play here on a regular basis.

Weather: 68 degrees 10mph breeze for most of the day

Greens: 9/10 Highlight of the course FIRM, fast putting around an 11 with little to no ball marks...beware of downhillers and putt on the putting green prior to your round.

Fringes: 9/10 Cut tight and firm with a ton of bounce...great shape!

Tees: 5/10 Semi brown doormant grass cut tight and in decent shape

Fairways 3/10...hate to rate them this low but they have a ton of roll and there is hardly any lush grass at all...they should be perking up by April or May hopefully...i did see some sprinklers on hole 16 so that's a plus

Sand: 5/10 Many portions of previous rock hard bunkers now have some soft sand to them. Bunkers were raked and in decent shape

Rough: 6/10...green and lush lining certain fairways like left of #18 while other sections are hardpan and inconsistent.


Great challenge from the black tees.

Staff friendly, some nice practice areas as well

Walked Rustic today @ 11 am with a buddy. Keep in mind, they are no longer doing the free birthday round. We found out the hard way today. We started on back nine because the front nine had frost delay. Back nine was very windy with winds above 25 mph. Greens in great shape and very fast @ 10.5/11. Fairways were thin, but playable and rough was spotty at times with dead grass mixed with patches of growth. Sand traps were inconsistent, but mostly lacking sand. I am pretty sure the wind has blown a lot of the sand out. Walking midday rate at $34 was a good value. Front 9 (our back nine) had about 10 mph winds.

played 2-4 with longball23 and pedro7170.tee boxes in good shape level with plenty of grass even on three pars. fairways where a mixture of green grass with some dormant areas but most of the lies where descent. they are very firm right now so you get a lot of roll. rough is any where from 1-3 inches with some bare spots mixed in. you can have some difficult lies in the rough with the ball sitting down on the dirt between clumps of grass. the fringes on this course are really big and cut to almost the same as the greens.
greens where firm fast and rolling real nice. overall for winter time i felt the course was in good shape.

Out this afternoon at Rustic 2/4/2013 with buddies and GK members RGM2525 and Pedro7170. We played the black tees on a perfect day for golf...5 mph breeze and low 70's temps. We teed off just before 1pm and our POP was 4 hours 30 minutes walking and waiting for the group ahead of us most of the day. Twilight now starts at 1pm here. Greens are very firm and in very good shape at present time. Putting close to a 10.5 on the stimp and only holding those shots with a ton of spin. If you miss the greens on the wrong side it is a task to get it close. The fairways were thin and dry and had a ton of roll. On the 1st hole I hit what I thought was a really nice drive and only had 175 yds in..ton of roll out here. The fringes were green and soft on some holes where other holes like #14 in the front of the green were firm. The tees were level and were semi-lush to thin but with a tee on par 3's not that big of deal. Was in one bunker today that was nicely raked and had some quality sand in it. Rough around the fairways were lush in some spots and dead grass in others. The layout from the black tees is long at over 7000yds and tests your stamina and distance especially on the back nine. Bring your A short game to this course especially if they place the pins where they did today. I love this course.

Played Rustic Friday, had 11:20 tee time. Have not played there in about 5 years. The weather was perfect, high 70's little wind, blue skies, could not have been better. The course was in very playable condition. The only drawback was the fairways. Many bare spots and clumps of grass, Hard to find a good lie. We decided among the four of us to Play "Winter Rules" . For me the most difficult part of this Golf Course is the Greens. If you don't hit your approach shot to the correct side of the Green with all the mounds and undulations, you might end up with a 30-50 foot putt. Was not happy with my 4 putt on the 18th. All in All a perfect day for Golf on one of my favorite Tracks.

Out this afternoon 1/28/2013 at 12:10pm with buddy and GK member Pedro7170 and another twosome. The last reviewer was spot on the greens are for sure the highlight of the course at this time. Putting in between a 9 and 10 stimp very little ballmarks looking great to the naked eye and putting semi-pure with minimal bounce. They are receptive. The tees and fairways are thin with a mixture of green thin grass(from recent rain) and a lot of hardpan doormant areas. If you hit the ball low and bomb it expect a lot of roll on drives. They have added new sand to some of the bunkers which is a nice touch. The fringes were consistent and in nice shape. The rough was lush and in nice shape anywhere from 2-3 inches. If you lucked out on a lie it beat being in the fairway at present time. We were taking our time today so POP was 4 hours 40 minutes not holding up any groups and not waiting on the group ahead. Very friendly staff and for 27 bucks walking a good deal. Once the fairways grow in for summer if the greens stay this good the course will be in very good shape.
