Played this morning in great golfing weather and the conditions were nice all around. Tee boxes were in good condition, fairways were nice and ran out plenty on drives. Greens were running smooth with few pitch marks. Only complaint, the greens didn't hold short iron/ full wedge shots. I usually back up the ball a little or stops within couple feet of pitch marks on the green but not today. I guess you just have to adjust to it and play your short iron/wedges expecting it to roll out 5 to 10 feet instead of stopping on a dime. Fun course and 4 1/2 hr POP. Excellent course for walkers.

Tee Time: Monday 8/12/2013 at 2:00pm with buddies Pedro and Mack walking for 27 bucks Tees: Blue Weather: 85 degrees, 10-12 mph swirling for most of the day Greens: 7/10...Looks like they put some topdressing or did some kind of minor maintenance with verticut maybe a little while ago. Some putts bounced and the greens were generally slower than usual today. They are by no means in bad shape just not the normal smooth perfect roll you can get out here. They held shots nicely. Fairways: 7/10... They were in good condition but looked and played a little dry, I know water is scarce in this area. Good news is you will get a lot more roll currently. Tees: 7.5/10...Some divot damage on the par 3's, otherwise flat and nice looking tees with enough coverage Rough 8/10 I rate the rough lining several fairways and green an 8 in that it is lush, green and is very tricky(sometimes 3-4 inches). My friend had a deep tough lie behind #2 green and my other buddy had problems just left of #18 fairway finding his ball. Its juicy and is a challenge and adds some character to the course. Fringes 8/10 Good and beautiful shape Bunkers 7/10 Hard packed firm sand, if you can play out of these bunkers you got game. Layout: 9/10 When the wind picks up this place will challenge you. Rustic is a must play if you have not played it.

First round in 5 months since my surgery. What a great course to play it at!

Fairways are great, greens are great, tee boxes are ok. Remember, the greens run much faster towards the entrance of the course!

Overall I had a great golf experience and I can't stress enough how great this golf course it. Front nine, I believe, is much easier than the back. Get out and play!

Played Rustic with BarkyDog1 walking the blue tees in just under 4 hours with a late twilight time. Nice day for golf with a 10 mph wind on the front and no wind on the back nine. Fairways were just mowed and looked green and lush. I really commend the maintenance crew with the heat this course must have had in the last month or so. I would rate the fairways an 8/10 with hardly any divot damage, lush fairways with perfect lies. The tees were beautiful and lush and mostly all level maybe besides #17 which they need to level on the blue stones, I would rate the tees an 8.5/10. They are in great shape The fringes are in great shape and are cut tight. The rough was in great shape and was lush in many spots maybe up to 3 inches. The greens were the healthiest I have seen in a while. They are actually very soft and receptive for Rustic's usual standard. They had very little ballmarks. For my personal taste I thought they putted slow around a 9 on the stimp. I know they probably need to keep them longer right now due to the heat. I would still rate them close to an 8 out of 10. Bunkers looked to be all raked and compact. POP and staff were A+. I really look forward to my end of summer and fall rounds here. If you have not been to Rustic in a while I think its in real good shape and is always a blast to play...have fun

Played this morning with 3 other buddies early. I thought the course was in great condition.
Tee boxes were great. I thought the fairways were lush. The greens looked great. We just thought the greens looked faster than what they were. All day none of us got the ball to the hole, but that was on us. Always have loved this course.

I got a call from Rodney at Rustic today. He wanted to discuss my review. He did take the time to explain their philosophy of course management and maintenance. In the end, we agreed to disagree on some issues. He had a fair point that the maintenance was listed on Greenskeeper which I did not check before going out. I am writing this because of how impressed I was that he picked up the phone to discuss the situation. It's nice to know that management really does care about the experience at the course. As I stated before, this is one of my favorite courses and I am sure given their commitment, the course will soon be back to the usual excellent conditions and I do look forward to going back.

First let me say this is one of my favorite golf courses. I have been a member of the mens club the last two years but conditions have deteriorated. The course is in horrible shape and it was a crime to have to pay full price to play here. The greens are beyond slow. Not just aerated with large holes but lots of sand. The aprons were punched with large holes and have hardly healed. Putting and chipping are impossible.

Fairways are very thin as is rough where there is any as there are mostly bare spots. Everything is a tight lie. Sand traps were hard and tee boxes uneven and beat up. Never seen it this bad. On top of that, it was over 5 hours to play. Two guys I played with have also played here for years and both said they are not coming back.

No mention of any of this when we called for a reservation and when I went to the shop after, they agreed the course was in bad shape but did not offer any kind of refund or comp. It was basically, sorry and someone should have told you when you called.

Would stay away for at least a month and until you see several great reviews here.

Had the pleasure of playing here today with two dear friends. One is 98 and his brother is 92 and yes they are fit and play great golf. We should all be so lucky. And for those of you who wonder what they shot, 98 shot 95 and 92 shot 92. These two gentlemen are an inspiration to me in how to totally enjoy life. Course is in great shape from tee to green. I have absolutely no complaints and nothing but praise for the entire staff of Rustic Canyon. Those of you who live near the course I envy you having such a wonderful facility available to you. I am already looking forward to my next round at Rustic Canyon.

Played a twilight round with longball23 today at 2:00. 28 bucks is an unbelievable deal for this place. As previous reviews stated, tee boxes and fairways are in good shape with the fairways generating a lot of roll. Rough was surprisingly lush around the greens.
Greens were rolling true, but just a bit slower than I was expecting. Always enjoy coming out and playing here and wish it were about 50 miles closer!
