Greens are fantastic, the best greens I've putted on this season and the fairways are in very nice shape as well. I played Rustic Cyn last week and I have to say that Soule Park is in much better condition tee to green.

Checking in the golf shop was great. Very friendly. Good way to start off the day.

Practice range had a lot to be desired, with damp to wet grass on the tee. Balls weren't great either with worn balls and some being pretty dirty/muddy still. But it did the trick before the round.

This is the first time I've played Soule in years and realized after starting they reverted to the old routing, and tweaked certain holes (specifically #8 tee, added bunkers added on several fairways, and flipped #17 and #18). I like the original routing so I think these changes were good.

Overall tees and fairways were good, the latter being thin in some areas but overall pretty good. The tees were solid, with only a couple either sanded (e.g. #6) or just a little thin. Watch the power lines from the back tees on #5. Start your ball too high and risk a high wire act right out of bounds.

The greens were very soft and showed some signs of the recent aerification. While pretty slow (maybe 8.5), they were smooth and rolled true. The practice green was faster than most of the greens on the course, but at least they were consistent. And the one operational putting green being shared with the 9th green was an interesting experience. The greens at Soule are way more undulating than I remember. Precise distance and direction were key to staying in the right quadrant, because even w the slowness of the greens you didn't want to be in the wrong area.

Layout is player friendly, with lots of room on most holes. Toughest stretch easily comes in holes 5-8. Brutal back-to-back holes on 5 and 6, but the par-5's offset the tough ones with good chances for birdies. A similar stretch of tough holes comes on the back, holes 12-15 provide a tough test with the green on the short #13 keeping you honest. Soule is just a good course to hit it, find it, and hit it again.

Pace of play was a little tough. 4.5 hours for an afternoon starting time, with waiting on most holes. But it was a beautiful Ojai day with a slight breeze, so no complaints.

Food & beverage staff were very friendly too, both in the snack bar and in the restaurant so overall the staff provided a good experience. Didn't see a beverage cart.

played on june 7th early morning. Second one out in the morning, saw a single walking 5-6 holes in front of me. It was my first time playing this course. Been wanting to play this course for awhile but it is long drive from los angeles. Course conditions are currently in good shape. Greens are currently healed from aeration,(except the 8th green) Looks like they just punch the 8th(little holes, no sand).Couple of fairways were also aerated, but couldnt tell if the were unless you look really closely. Pretty wide open layout with not many OB in sight. Finished 16 holes in 2 hours. The last 2 holes took 45 mins due to a tournament or club teeing off on the 17th playing better ball to start the round. Still it was a enjoyable round and enjoyed the serene setting that soule park brings.

played 1-17 with longball23 and his buddy steve. for winter golf the course is in pretty good shape. tees where pretty lush and mostly level with very little divot damage. fairways where dormant and a little thin but not as bad as many of the other ventura county courses. sand traps where firm with plenty of sand. aprons around the greens where a little soft so you had to carry the ball onto the green or it wouldn't run up. greens where pretty soft and holding shots but still on the fast side and rolling good. for $17 at twilight well worth the price.

Out for a twilight round at 12 noon this afternoon 1/17/12 with a buddy and RGM2525. The greens are beautiful, putting fast and holding iron approaches well. For sure with some of these undulating big green complexes you do not want to short side yourself here depending where they put the pin. Sand was hard packed and too firm for my taste but raked nicely. Tees were lush on most of the holes and in good shape. The fairways and chipping areas are in poor shape with dormant brown grass, mixture of muddy spots and some hardpan areas. Pace of play was around 4 hours 30 minutes today walking the back tees. Great challenges here on #6, #8 and #14, #15 and #16.

Greens were downright QUICK if you were above the hole. I'll tell you how fast the greens were. A playing partner hit an iron that landed on the BACK fringe on hole #2 and backed the ball all the way across the green, (probably 75'), off the green and 30+ feet down in the fairway. Then on #3, the same guy landed the ball in the middle of the green and if rolled back 45' off the green, the ball ended up 30 yards down the fairway...

The pins today were some of the most extreme I have ever seen on this course, on holes 1,3,7,16 & 18 they were on hills/crests where if you missed a putt that barely got there from above the hole you had 5-8 ft. coming back. The worst was #18, if you missed a 6' putt from below the hole it would roll back to your feet, and getting anything from above the hole within 6' below was a miracle.

Fairways were nice but a little thin in places, normal for the winter in this area. Sand traps were raked and well maintained. Tees were very lush, rough mowed down and was hardly a factor.

Out at Soule Park this morning 12/22 with Nickesquire1 10:50am tee time to avoid the Simi/Mooraprk which were gusting up to 45mph...no wind today at Soule until the last two holes. Fairways were brown and dormant like most Ventura County courses at this time. Tee boxes were level and semi-lush and in decent shape. The one sand bunker that I was in had great sand. The greens (OMG) best greens I have seen at Soule in quite some time...probably between and 11-12 on the stimp and rolling smooth as glass. You did not want to be on the wrong side of the pins today which were set up pretty tough. Pace of play was close to 5 hours as there were a ton of people and a tournament this morning. Staff very friendly. From the back tees you have several challenging par 4's and a couple of tough par 3's. I can putt these greens everyday of the week just loved them....close to a 9.5 rating for the greens in my book.

Out at Soule Park this afternoon 12 noon tee time with Nickesquire1 and a buddy. . The greens are in very good shape right now and are rolling true. They are quick above the hole but are holding approach shots very nice. The tees on many par 3's were nice and lush and were level for the most part, was in 1 sand bunker and it was wet and raked nicely. I was disappointed some with the fairways. They were not that lush and provided only decent coverage. The aprons/fringes were cut tight and in very good shape. We walked the back tees in 4 hours and 30 minutes. Staff inside the pro-shop very nice. We walked for only 17 bucks which is a great deal. Super views today with the high clouds and mixed sunshine. Course was semi-wet today with the rains last night and played long as it stayed in the high 50's for most of the day....but no standing water so it did drain pretty decently this morning.

Greens were nice to really nice and putted well, especially considering the downpour from yesterday. Tees/fairways were both decent, both could use some work but were very playable. Rough was generally lush and thick. The sand was wet but appeared to be well maintained before the rain and it was nice, thick sand. Nice twilight rate of $17 to walk on weekday afternoons.
