Played Sunday 5/30. Pace was fantastic about 4 1/2 hrs. They recently swapped the 9's. You now start at the old 10 and what was hole 3 is now 10. 1 and 2 are now 17 and 18. This was only my second time playing the course. With that in mind I did not like the change, the old back nine was better suited for a back nine, more interesting and better finishing holes. The new 17th and 18th holes are two of the weaker holes on the course, played in the low area of the course next to Ojai Rd. Not to mention that the changed screwed with my skycaddie. Greens were recently punched and have not fully healed yet, other than that the course is in great shape. Fun layout and will play again.

Played Soule Park for the first time today. Course was incredibly beautiful and in amazing shape. The greens were easy to read but very fast, which I love. Overall, very challenging and very well maintained and for the price you can't beat it. I will be back soon because I may be wrong but it seems like it could get very hot in Ojai during the summer.

This course exceeded all my expectations as a group organizer. Our outing ran perfect. The course was in excellent shape as you have been reading, the staff very professional and courteous while providing exceptional service. It setup up perfect for an outing with a friendly challenging scenic unique course design, excellent range (grass), practice putting green and chipping area all visible from the staging area and a perfect mid-sized bar/grill over looking the course with terrific servers on hand. Our pace of play was the fastest we ever had with all groups finishing easily under 5 hours…our lead group got around in just over 4 hours. Soule Park Golf Course will certainly be a return destination for Greenskeeper.org Events. Thank You!

this is really a gorgeous course. a really nice track with an appropriately challenging set-up. top to bottom, this course could not have been nicer. firm greens that actually hold a ball pretty well, and bunkers that make you think twice about going in. if i wasn't just exhausted when i played, i would have scored a LOT better...but, i like getting worked over by a course like this. it's humbling and fun!
a word of advice, though...beware the buzzing bees! you hear them, but never really see them...

The views, the service and the course were all fantastic. Plan your shots carefully and stay in the fairway. I will play here again.

Thanks to GK and Johnny who set this one up. Our group had a great time and it was an honor to play with such "sticks". Soule Park's greens were some of the more firmer greens that I have played out there. Several pins were in very challenging positions. The weather was great today. The fairways were in good shape and players had good lies. The bunkers had some hard pack sand in the middle of the bunkers and more"beachy" soft sand near the lips of the bunkers which I found twice today of the tee(lol). The rough was hit and miss around the fairways. The tee boxes were lush and level. The greens rolled true and held iron shots decently with some spin. One of our playing partners made a very good comment that if you have never played here you do not know where some of the green complexes start and end. It is a course that if played multiple times you get to figure it out. The more I play #17 the more appreciation I have for it being the toughest golf hole on the course. I was told that they are going to switch the 9's around which I guess is OK but I enjoy the back nine here and would rather have that 9 holes to finish. The staff is so nice here, it is so peaceful and that was the first time that I was in the bar area. Good food and drinks and what a view of the mountains. If the Lakers had won that night it would have been a near perfect day... I would recommend playing Soule Park RIGHT NOW..its in good shape.

My first time playing in a GK event on 4/24. Congrats to Johnny on his 74! - An amazing score on this challenging, but fair course. Perfect conditions for a great day. Course was is pretty good shape. I've played here quite a few times since the re-design, and love it. It's definitely worth the drive to come up here a few times a year. BTW, they told me in the pro shop that they are switching nines again in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if I like that, but will have to see how it plays.

Thanks, again, to JohnnySandbag ...er...GK for another great outing. "Mr. 74" did his usual solid job of planning and execution for a perfect afternoon of golf. Service, course conditions and weather were all excellent. Soule Park provided a fine test of golf against a backdrop of green hills and blue skies. I would play this course often if it was closer. It is one of the most fun courses I've ever played, and I'm pretty old.

Played on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the GK outing. Once again JohnnyGK and staff provided another great venue to test your skill and patience! Very much appreciated.

The course staff were very friendly and accomodating to our group. This course meanders through the foothills of this small mountain town and the experience was one of serenity. I think I remember an airplane and a truck or tractor but that is all except for the ribbing coming from some of the greens!

The fairways were firm which provided aid with rollout on drives. The greens were also firm/fast and had some tricky breaks that required close study for successful putting. The greens would not hold a pitch shot so chipping or bump and run became the preferred approach. Tee boxes were level and in good condition. Sand traps were sparse on actual sand seeming to be loamy soil and difficult to escape from once in one! Overall the course is challenging with mature trees and very dense brush to capture errant tee shots!

This course is recommended for its challenge, serenity, and excellent course staff to take care of your needs.
