Played in the GK event this afternoon. What a great experience. Course was in very good shape. Greens were fast and rolled well. Some humps in the greens and tight pin placements added to the challenge. Fairways were nice and the rough was inconsistent. I think they do a great job of maintaining the parts of the course where you are supposed to play from. Hit it off the course and good luck finding it or if you do find it it will be tough to get a club on it.

I wish I had the bartenders name. She was great. Very personable and she was there when I ordered my breakfast sandwich which was very good and she was there when we ordered the last beer.

Another great GK event. Well worth the trip.

Out at Soule for twilight this afternoon 4/19. Course is in good shape...fairways lush for the most part and almost good lies everywhere in the fairways. Greens were more firm today than several weeks ago when I played them. They are putting faster and not holding iron shots like darts anymore...they are in good shape. Bunkers are firm but are playable. Rough bordering some holes can be knee high. Rough just off the fairways is playable and patchy in some areas and thinner in others. Tee boxes are in good shape with nice lush grass on them. Pace of play was great today. We finished walking in just under 4 hours. Grab a pin sheet as all of Soule's flags are blue. Each hole has six different pin locations. On your approach shots here you want to play them in front of the green complexes or with spin on the front of the greens. There are several fairway bunkers that you want to avoid such as the left bunkers on #17. Course is very fun, peaceful and worth the green fee in my mind.

Played 4/8/10. Overall good course. Lots of reachable Par 5's. Greens were slow and hard to read, and there were only 2 one putts in our group. Fairways were mostly lush and green. Rough wasn't very thick, and the bunkers are hard packed. Good customer service except that there wasn't any cart girls out. Great value and has GPS carts.

Played Soule Park today in a pretty strong wind....course is lush and in good shape. Greens were rolling slow in places and putts needed to be struck firm to make em. Stay on the fairways or just bordering them or risk a lost ball. Bunkers were hard packed today from the recent rain and were in OK shape. Tees were in good shape and had lush grass on them. The rough is up in spots just bordering the fairways and is deeper in some spots but you can still manage to get out of it. Course was wide open today which was great. Such a peaceful place to walk and work on your game.

Out at Soule Park today 3/22 from the tips. The first thing that stuck out to me and impressed me big time was the condition of the fairways. I played here last time in Dec 2009 and the fairways are in great shape(green, lush) at this time. Never had a bad lie out there today. Another thing that stood out was how much the rains this last month helped the grass, rough and thick areas off of the fairways grow..Man bring your fairway game here cause the thick stuff outside of the rough and bordering the fairways is nasty high and almost certainly a lost ball. I thought the rough and the fairways were in great shape. Most of the tee boxes were in good shape and were lush. Hole #13 tee is being overseeded at this time. The greens were running around and 8 on the stimp and putts must be stroked firmly to make them...especially putts uphill. The greens rolled fairly smooth and held iron shots. The sand was in good shape...I would call it firm on the top with some softer stuff underneath. Speaking of the greens there are several that have huge undulations and you want to be missing your iron shots on the right side of the green if you do miss. The pace of play was great today as was the weather. Soule Park and the Ojai area in general is so peaceful. Several holes out here will test your character including #3 #7, #8, #15 and #17 as well as the approach shot to #1. Always have friendly staff in the pro-shop. Soule Park for the money is a must play at this time...these are some of the best fairways that I have seen in a long time at Soule.

First time playing Soule Park today since the redesign and I was very impressed. The course is gorgeous with mountain backdrops on every hole and in great shape. It’s tucked into the side of the Ojai mountains in a very peaceful natural setting. Loved it.

As for the layout, very tough in my mind. I shot an 85 today and hit the ball well enough to shoot high 70’s. Very fair course off the tee. If you hit the fairways, you are rewarded greatly, if you miss, you are almost certainly in trouble (behind a tree, OB, lateral hazard, nasty fairway bunker, in 2 foot rough in some spots OR with a very bad angle to hit the green). Regarding the greens, diabolical, fun and firm. Use the softest ball you can find and be sure to do your best to hit the correct tier of the green. Thankfully the greens are smooth and not too fast. About an 8 on the stimp. Any faster and all those multi-tiers would demolish you. Also, look out for the bunkers…nasty jagged lips, steep faces and very large in strategic locations. They come into play often on approach shots and tee shots. Lastly, beware of the hidden trouble that waits behind many greens (Hole 1,6,10 - especially come to mind). When in doubt about club selection, take the lesser club because many times the ball will release onto the green anyway.

I played the back tees today and was shocked to see the rating only 72.3/126. You have got to have command of ALL aspects of your game to score well. The ratings should be a bit higher and the slope certainly should be in the low 130's – IMO. Furthermore, they have very nice/convenient practice areas (range, chipping, sand, putting) all close to the first tee. Soule Park is a hidden gem…worth the drive up to Ojai to play any time…highly recommended.

Played Soule this morning 12/23 with a buddy. Fairways had some hardpan and muddy spots and were thin. Greens rolling fairly true and medium speed. Tees for the most part level. Sand varied from bunker to bunker...no cart girl or marshall. Finished in 4 hours and 40 minutes. Quite a few holiday golfers out there today. They have a new rate at 11am for $21 to walk during the week. Several challenging holes at Soule that always bring me back. Love the back to back par 5's on the back nine.

Played 12-2 for the first time since the renovation. Great changes! Course will be familiar to all that played the old course but it's all new. Greens are fantastic. Santa Ana winds were howling in the valley but Ojai was breathless. Well worth the drive if the winds are blowing hard.

Played Soule Park today at twilight(8/14) from the tips. Course is dry and the fairways need some more H2o. The tee boxes were decent as were the greens. Greens were super soft and held irons, chips and even longer irons well. They putted slow but were not bumpy. The sand was the best part of the course. The pace of play was 4 hours 40 minutes....quite a few people out on the course today. #13 is now a par 5 and can be reached in two with two long shots. The tee box on #6 is back in its original position and makes it a better par 4. The rates(17 bucks) for twilight during the week, the peace and quiet and the challenge of several holes ( #1, #3, #7, #8, #15, #16 and #17) is enough for me to venture out to Soule every once in a while.
