Fantastic course! Wonderful redesign by Hanse! Locals are very lucky to have this course so close to home. A better test than it's more famous neighbor. There is talk about redoing some parts again to accomodate weaker players. This would be a mistake! The course is rock solid just the way it is. There is a safe play on every hole and I think the detractors need to spend time practicing rather than spending the city's money to accomodate their game's faults. Don't miss this gem!

Course in exceptional condition right now. Why is mgmt letting a once pristene clubhouse facility get so run down? Understanding the economics, no buisness, no reinvestment, but when your competition down the street (Ojai Valley Inn) is priced at three or four times your rates for a somewhat better course, isn't there some margin there? Hopefully things will turn around.

All in all ne layout improved but better golf courses out there.

Played here on Saturday afternoon, May 19th. Called in the morning and was greeted by a pleasant-sounding voice. The afternoon rate was $24 and an additional $8 for a cart with GPS--not bad. Teed off on time at 2:36 and although we could see groups from tee to green all the way through, it moved along nicely. The course was re-designed and re-opened last year. Greens are all bermudagrass. There was some aerification and sanding on the tee boxes, but only in the most worn areas and the cores were removed to another location. Well done! I see that they are scheduled to aerify in early June. Also, they have just about the prettiest cart girl around. I'd go back for that alone.

Played Sat 3/31. Fairways are improving(more green grass and lush). Greens were in good shape but were on the slow side. Some tees need work. Good pace for a Sat, finished in 4 hr 10 min walking.

Played Soule on Sat 3/3 in afternoon. Our threesome was impressed with the quality of the greens, they were hard to hold some shots but rolled true and quick, tough pin placements on alot of ridges. Great golf course, challenge from the back tees #14,#15 and approach shot to #17. Fairways slight improvement but still dry and thin in most spots.

Played Sunday 2/19 and went out at 7:30. Fairways are thin, but the greens are in good shape. Not sure this is worth the drive at $60 (with cart), maybe in a few months.

Played today (1/13) and fairways had no green grass on them, they are dying the grass brown out here. Greens were in good shape and were on the slower side, tee boxes were OK. They have raised their rates just a little bit as must courses in VC have lately. Our threesome commented after the round that we would probably not be back for a while as we do like green grass and some grass in fairways after you stripe a drive right down the middle.
