Played on thursday and finished in about 3 1/2 hours. Went out as a single and stayed that way as the 2some in front of me never invited me to join them, but still a quick round. The tees are being worked on and had top dressing on all of them but they still need to level some of them out. Faiways in pretty good shape and greens look like they tried to avoid full maintence on some of them and just punched a couple of greens and a couple of areas of those, so, did not really effect them. They were firm but did not put that fast. The bunkers need work, I was in 3 greenside and 1 fairway and all were very different, feels like they are getting ready to work on those as well because 2 were void of sand and 1 had too much. All in all a fun track and would play again but it is in below average condition right now. No cart girl and the clubhouse not the greatest, so bring your own beverages.

Played 3-27 on a click 4 tee times deal. They are working on the tee boxes on the front side, sand and fertilizer back side is ok. Fairways lies are ok but rough and fairway are the same length hard to tell if your in the rough or fairway when your near the edge. Greens are running medium speed but still showing holes from when they last aerated hard to keep ball on line when you hit one. Pro shop very friendly.

Played Sterling Hills twice this week. Overall, excellent test of golf. Upkeep of greens and bunkers outstanding. Some fairways are a little thin, due to time of year. Enjoy the different shots required depending on pin placement. Carts with GPS provide good information regarding distance to hazards. Will continue to play this course often.

We've played Sterling Hills since it first opened in late 1999. It has always been a treat until this past Saturday. Playing in a small 28 man company tournament, course marshal ruined a great day. I totally understand the need for marshals in order to encourage players to keep a decent pace; however, this guy was way too aggressive.

GPS system on carts indicate to the player when they have crossed into a restricted area on the course. However the GPS system was warning our group of being in a restricted area while we were driving on a concrete cart path between holes, clearly a malfunctioning system.

Yet the marshall was all over our group accusing everyone of being the most inconsiderate bunch of snakes that have ever played a round of golf. His hovering around our tournament, complaining that we were 30-40 minutes behind schedule absolutely ruined a beautiful day (the GPS system on our cart indicated we were 8 minutes behind at the 8th hole and we finished our round in 4 hours 40 minutes).

Several players have written to the Tournament Director at Sterling, with no response so far.

I don't like to write negative comments about our local courses (Ventura County) mainly because we have such great venues to enjoy in our area, but this one had to be written.

I personally could not recommend Sterling Hills as a choice for your next tournament.

Played on 10/16. Got a good deal on Golf Now for $57 per player. The staff is always nice and very organized. I like playing this course. They maintain the course well and it has a lot of color to it.

When we got to the first hole and talked to the marshal, he said "it's pretty busy today. There is an outing in front of your group" so we thought that we would be having a long day. But it turned out to be 4-4.5 hour round.

Course condition is good. There are places that are a little thin on the fairway, and usually those spots are pretty hard. Rough was nice and lush. And the greens. Always fast here, and it was fast and rolled true. Most of the bunkers had nice soft sand, but the green side bunkers on the 18th hole was hard like how it's been for months.

I wish I live closer, so I could join and use the $89 member fee that will get you $10 off per round. I would come for the twilight rate (I think it was $15) and get as much holes as I can! That is a deal!

I will come back to this course again.

Not sure what is up with the course maintenance, but it needs to be better. This is one of the best layouts around and if they can get the conditions to equal the layout it will be great, but for now the course is not playing how it should.
