Played in the GK Play on 5/25/12 @ 9:15. You can see parts on the course as you drive in and it looked great. There's a huge beautiful clubhouse. I was impressed from the start with the service. My bag was taken at the bag drop area and I was told clubs would be on a cart below behind the clubhouse. I checked in and found rgm2525 waiting on his breakfast. We had a really good breakfast joined later by Johnny. We ended up at the driving range where I met other GKers. The driving range was nice with grass only. It was a very windy day ... mostly cross winds. As far as the course goes I enjoyed it but IMO a lot of the holes were similiar. That is not to say I wouldn't play it again. I would love to play it again especially on a calmer day and at the awesome rate of $55. There are #2 other courses I would like to play as well. The tee boxes were well mantained, nice and level. The fairways were really nice with lots of yardage markers on sprinklers heads. There were plenty of stones used as makers too all the way to 50 yds. The rough was consistent 1 to 1.5 inches. There was a price to pay if you missed the fairway and rough and ended up in the surrounding vegetation/rocks. The pretty flowers ate up a few of my balls. I thought the greens were in good shape and rolled true. It was best if you ran the ball up using the fringe and area around the greens. Putting from off the greens was another option if greens were missed. We saw the cart girl several times. After the round our bags were taken back to bag drop area after cleaning. This was a nice touch as cart return area was a few flights of stairs below parking lot. I really enjoyed my round with my group. I had previously met rg2525 but it was nice to play with him. I watched him hit some amazing shots. It was nice meeting and playing with Rob1563 and John_T. Looking forward to seeing you guys again. After our round we had met at the clubhouse and visited. I enjoyed visiting with the other 4some GadgetGirl, addictedtugolf, JohnnyGK and Skygolf76. It was a really good day and I can't wait to do it again. Thanks Paiute and GK.

Played 5/24/12 with the GK group. What a pleasure it was to play with Alex from Italy, Johnnie, and of course my husband Gary.

This course is a beautiful dessert course with Mountains in the background. The wildflowers were in bloom with some that had died off already.

The weather was a mild low 80's which is low for this time of year. Unfortunately, it was WINDY! It reminded me of Waikaloa Golf Course on the Big Island of Hawaii. In the afternoons the trade winds pick up to 30-40 miles per hour. I nicknamed it WindKaloa!. The winds at Paiute were 20-30 in the morning and then picked up to over 40 miles per hour. I assume this was due to the weather system coming through the area. I don't know if this is normal or not.

I played well on the front nine even with the wind. Then 11 more strokes on the back. Was it the increased wind or just me? Hmm... My playing partners reported playing better on the back. Go figure.

Pete Dye Design: I did not know that this course was a Pete Dye course until we were done. I gave this course a 4 challenge rating because with the wind it is definitely challenging. But, I have played much more challenging Pete Dye courses. After reflecting back there were some holes that are definitely Pete Dye. The island green of course and then there's a couple of holes with waste bunkers along the side of the fairways and even one goes all the way across the fairway near the front/approach area of the green. You can't see it until you get there. Also, on several holes you can't quite see where you need to go which is definitely Pete Dye. This course is one that you have to play a couple times to figure out how to play certain holes.

Fairways and rough: All very nice. No complaints.

Sand: There's plenty of sand on this course. Both waste and bunkers. I was in only a couple bunkers. The sand was compact/hard.

Greens: Rolled perfectly even though you could see that maybe 3-4 weeks ago they were aerated. You could just see the punches, but the roll was smooth. No three putts for me! So they rolled very smooth. I only had 30 putts even with the wind blowing me, my putter, and the ball around.

Tee boxes: Great. I could see that holes were punched, but plenty of grass and level.

Overall: Love it! Will play again and I want to play the other 2 Paiute courses.

Played Paiute Wolf on May 25th GK Play event.
A great Pete Dye designed course, extremely long from the back tees (7604 yds!!), located inside the Paiute Indian Reservation, just North of Vegas, surrounded by the breathtaking Southern Nevada desert and the Springs Mountains.
Despite yesterday's extremely windy conditions, course is in great shape.
This Dye's creation features many interesting holes, among them the beautiful island green Par 3 15th, a revisitation of its famous Par 3 17th "Alcatraz" at Tpc Stadium in La Quinta.

This is a course you need to know, due to the many blind shots, dog-legs, hided bunkers and mounds you'll encounter.
I suggest every first time Wolf Course player to get a yardage book from the Pro Shop...you'll really need it.

Played on Friday in the GK Plays event. Very windy, but a beautiful day for golf. Being a very high handicap, I have always shied away from the Wolf due to it's "difficulty." I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to play it. Tee selection is definitely important, and the Wolf has 5 to choose from. From the whites, I did not think there was a hole that was overly difficult to play. Course set up is great. No 2 holes are the same. Short par 4s played with a helping wind, while the par 5s where into it. Lots of cross winds.

Paiute starts with a short drive out of the Vegas Valley. The courses just stand out against the desert and mountains. Customer service was the way I like it, great without being overbearing. Dropped the bags at the bag drop and was given directions on where to go. After paying, found our cart, and was given directions to the practice area. Drink cart was around at least twice per nine, and there's a snack bar at the turn. Best thing I liked, after the round, they take your clubs up and give you a baggage claim ticket for when your ready to pick them up.

The course was absolutely awesome. Fairways looked beautiful (I was only in 2 of them, but they were great to look at). They are wide, and even if you spray it, there's a great chance you'll hit grass. Rough was around 2 inches, just enough to take an extra club, but not damaging. It was longer around the greens. Sand bunkers were a little bit better than your typical desert course, no pebbles, but "heavy" and wet underneath. Greens were fast and firm. Lots of roll on run up shots, no ball mark damage, and ultra smooth. I was actually scared when I was told they can get them faster.

My only gripe, and it's a little one, is no GPS on the carts. I didn't see a yardage book in the pro shop, but I didn't ask about one either. I wish I did. A GPS device showing the layout would help.

Overall, great course. Can't wait to go back.

"The WINDY WOLF OPEN" 5/25/12:

This was a GK play event,the first ONE for the Las Vegas area. A total of (8) players battled the very strong winds! Almost was a witness to a hole in one by Mr. Johnny on the ISLAND Green #15 hole, it was that close as I viewed it through the lens of my Callaway Laser with the winds blowing, swirling and pushed the golf ball further along the green from the cup.

First time playing the "WOLF" and it won't be my last time even though it's a Pete Dye creation, it is very playable for all handicaps, just don't tell PETE DYE!

Customer service is outstanding from the time you use the bag drop, efficiently are loaded, directed where to go since there are THREE 18 hole courses at this property. Pro shop staff all very courteous & helpful.
If you need your clubs cleaned when your finished, handlers available as well.

DESPITE the very strong winds, probably the strongest I've experienced in a long time, the fairways were generous & wide, we needed to play the wind,seemed like it would be a crosswind most of the time, just a few holes were downwind, the long holes were even longer into the wind.

Fairways: were excellent, I did not find any bad lies, most times the ball would be sitting up perfectly. As previously mentioned, fairways were generous in my opinion.

Rough: Maybe two inches at the highest level. Of the (5) fairways that I missed, still recoverable but I had ONE bad lie that was sitting very deep next to a drain,had to play it as it lied. Overall, not penal IF you missed the fairways & landed in the rough. Now, beyond the rough (desert) is a different story...

GREENS: ALMOST immaculate, I gave them a "9" rating. I never saw any ball marks, greens appeared firm but actually held approach shots. Pace was medium, maybe a few were faster but hard to tell with the windy conditions.
Greens putted very true & rolled very smoothly. I didn't have ANY 3 putts in all of the windy conditions.

Tee boxes: NO COMPLAINTS, boxes are well marked with yardages. In fact, on the PAR 3's, the yardage stone already has engraved the Front, Middle, Back yardages for each tee box! simply walk off to where the markers are for the day. THIS ALONE was extremely helpful on the ISLAND GREEN #15 PAR 3, wind NOT INCLUDED!

Bunkers: I was in just two bunkers but one was costly on hole #9! One of my players in the group struggled on hole #6, playing out of the waste bunker on a the PAR 5. Practice bunker was a little different than what I experienced out on the course, just my opinion....

Practice Facility: ALL grass range, plenty of targets to choose from despite the wind. Large practice putting green, very nice bunker/chipping green with multiple hole locations.

Layout: Since it was our first time, maybe next time we'll get a yardage book, NO GPS on the carts, bring your own measuring devices. There are holes that are birdie able, some drive able PAR 4's if you have the guts to go for it.
All tee markers have a "WOLF" designed statue on the tee boxes, a nice touch!
PAR 3's are tough, ESPECIALLY hole #8, whatever you do, play the left side of the green, RIGHT is death!

This was a FUN day! After the round, we went back to the clubhouse, grabbed a late lunch, enjoyed meeting the other GK'ers and Alex who traveled from as far away as Italy!

I played Wolf 3/31 and the course was quiet, its an amazing course and was perfect. It plays a little tricky with the high gusts so if you play and dont hit it solid your tee box choice is important!!

The Course was enjoyable as the holes played a little strategy with club selection and the fairway bunkers seemed to catch me.

The par 3 island green at 15 was awesome, i made par so it felt good !

My wife and I took our annual pilgrimage to LV for our anniversary . . and Paiute Wolf is always on the list of courses to play. We played 12/3/2011 in 20+mph winds. Made the course much more challenging, but certainly helped the pace of play dramatically. Normally Wolf is very crowded and the pace can be on the slow side . . with the winds, and temps in the low 50's, there was hardly anyone on the course, so we made it around in a little more than 3 hours. The greens were very fast. The fastest they have ever been in all my visits to Wolf. As always, the fairways were in great shape, and the staff was fantastic. The starter warned us about the green speeds, and we had a marshall come around and let us know he had talked to the 4-some a couple of holes in front of us (we were a 2-some) and they would let us play through when we caught up to them. As it was, there was no need because we caught them at the turn, and passed them while they got refreshments, but it was nice to know that the marshall was planning ahead and thinking of our pace in advance. This course will continue to be on our list of courses we play every year during out trip to Las Vegas!

Played on 6/21, got a tee time online for $82 (non-Nevada resident). Upon arrival was offered the chance to tee off earlier. Nice practice area, with a large putting green and a separate chipping green. Driving range use was part of the green fee.
The golf course is outstanding, one of the best in Nevada. I have played the two other courses at the Paiute reservation, and while the others are very good, this one is a cut above. Superb variety of holes: the par fours include uphill, downhill, long and short, right and left doglegs, over hazard areas, wide and narrow fairways; the par fives have similar variety; the par threes include a Pete Dye signature island green. There are five sets of tees so that any golfer's game can be accommodated. Stray too far from the fairway and you will end up with a tough lie in the desert -- unless you choose to take a lateral hazard penalty per the local rules. I played early morning to beat the heat, and flew around in just under three hours -- playing as a single. Like the other Paiute courses, this one is carved out of the desert with no housing adjacent to the course -- a rarity for Nevada daily fee facilities. The entire experience was first-class, top to bottom.

The customer service was good but the one guy seemed like he was not all there? Then he snapped into his treat the customer right attitude. However, the starter, marshalls and othe staff members were excellent - it is the type of service that you get at a 5 star hotel or resturant. Excellent.

The one issue that i did have for the day was - the carts have GPS that has the green veiw and a flag - well all of the FLAGs were off - It was like it needed to be reset.

The greens were nice and smooth, rolled very true and pretty fast. They would only hold shots if you hit them in the air. If you hit low running shots then the greens would not hold them and they would run forever. Hence my second shot on the par three (island water) hole. My first shot was on the green, so me and my bud took a second shot to go after a pin the tucked in the front on the right 10 feet from the water -
He hit his shot left and it caught the ridge and rolled right next to the hole. - I went after the flag and it hit, skipped, hit the rough and into the water behind the hole. What fun.

The fairways are emmaculant - very manicured. As well as the tee boxes.
It reminds me of going to Palm Springs - desert golf - but this place was just much better.

If you ever get the chance to go - it is well worth the drive.
