Enjoyed a great day of golf at Las Vegas Paiute – Wolf Course. This course is so fine!


The Wolf is a fun / challenging Desert Player’s Course that is a Pete Dye top tier design. On this day it was a fair test of golf through 14 holes, and then came in the 35+ mph winds after 2 PM which made holes 15 - 18 as challenging as a Physics Final.


The Wolf is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized undulating fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with strategic water hazards on a few holes, and with very fast greens.


The course is primarily flat but features lots of undulations, along with some attractive views of localized mountains. The course plays like a Real Deal Championship Style layout. The course seemed to play it's yardage and the last 5 holes in the wind were a real test. The course was in excellent condition overall. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.7 out of 5. I note the following:


Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Condition was very nice.


Fairways: Green at times tight. Condition was very nice.


Greens: Fast in speed and medium to firm. No damage observed. Speed about a 12. Condition was very nice.


Sand: Well maintained and firm. Condition was very nice.


Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Condition was very nice.


Waste Areas: - Waste areas on various holes did not offer the opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Condition was very nice.


Driving Range: The range is excellent. You are hitting off grass into a beautiful mountain backdrop with markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 300ish. Range balls were your typical white rangers and in good condition. Also noted very nice chipping areas. Amazing driving range! Condition was very nice.


Practice Putting Greens: Practice putting greens are ample and very well maintained. They seemed consistent with the speed of the course greens on this day. Condition was very nice.


POP: 4.00 hours – some wait was encountered due to the group in front, as they were having a tough time dealing with the difficulty of the course. Otherwise, no issues.


The LVP facility included a nice restaurant, and a nicely stocked pro shop. Service received was excellent except for the cart return guy, he was a DB.


Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. This is a top-level golf experience at an incredible facility. On of the best is LV!

Little bit of a late post...

Played Paiute Wolf 2 days in a row over the weekend. First time here and in one word Amazing!!! Course was pristine from tee to green. Not one negative thing to say here. Saturday was some of the best conditions you can have weather wise here. No wind and a nice 95 degrees, no problem. Sunday was a different story. That pesky wind crept up and wrecked havoc on us. It was a 2 club wind all day...greens were fantastic and rolled true. I've played a lot of golf and these were some of the best greens I've ever played on.
Will definitely be back to experience the other 2 courses sooner rather than later...

Played in a small charity event on Sat out on the Wolf Course. We went out at 11:30 and I was sad to be in the slow group. I felt bad and tried to get the other cart to hurry up but they were looking for lost balls and made 3-4 practice swings each just painfully slow. My partner and I would play to the green by the time these two would take their drops. That aside the course is in good shape. I must admit I have seen it better in shape but it's not in bad shape just a little less perfect than previous rounds. They closed the wolf range at 10:30 for no reason so the snow/sun range was packed. The carts are nice with a small GPS screen and a new design for cups and storage that I like.

Tee boxes were a little chewed up but still had a decent place to tee up and once moved around had very lush grass. Fairways were lush and mostly green with a nice roll out. Rough was good and thick with a few brown splotches around the outside edges but good to play from. Green Side Sand was good but two of the fairway bunkers I found were firm and need some TLC. Greens were like concrete firm and fast as hell. Countless times I had approach shots bounce 3-5 feet in the air and roll off the back of the greens into collection areas which also had divots from many others who had been in the same situation. I know it's winter but it is 50-60 degrees there is no reason they can't soften these greens up. My suggestion is to play every shot to land 1 foot short of the green so the fairway can soften the bounce. From what is a really nice course it's just sad for the greens to ruin your day. On a side note Hole 15 island green was softer which allowed for small divots to be taken.

Check-in, cart, and halfway house staff were very friendly and the starter seemed grumpy at first but did lighten up when it was our turn. I still highly recommend playing here I just hope they soften the greens.

Played on Sunday, 1/9 (sorry for the late post!) with a noonish tee time. Paid $65 local rate and it's an absolute steal.

Paiute lived up to it's reputation of great service and phenomenal conditions. Dropped the bag at the front and it's ready on a cart when you walk down from the pro shop after paying. Wolf has its own all grass driving range (included) and a large putting green, plus a bunker/chipping area.

Course is in incredible shape in spite of the week of sub freezing temps overnight. Level tee boxes with barely any divots. Fairways were just spectacular, lush, and with some run. Bunkers had some thick, almost heavy sand which was nice to hit from. Greens were incredible. A bit firm with almost no chance of leaving a ball mark, and on the fast side. A bit of local knowledge that they break harder going away from the freeway helps.

Overall, Paiute never disappoints. Incredible views, the feeling of being secluded on every hole, and great conditions always makes this a must play. It helped the typical Paiute wind was just a breeze all day.

In Vegas for a few days of golf and wanted to (A) play a GK sponsor course and (B) play a new course. Being that I more than likely wont make the July outing, I opted for Paiute – Wolf course. In short, what an excellent facility and course. Check in is great with the crew grabbing your clubs from the car and loading them on a cart for you. Entire staff is super friendly. We had breakfast in the restaurant which overlooks the 18th hole of the snow course. From there it was off to the all grass range (range balls included).
Course is basically flat with a few rolling terrain holes so make it interesting. A handful of the holes had water in play including two of the par 3’s, one of which is an island green.

Green’s were in super condition, rolling smooth at a fast pace. Most greens had minor undulations that had standard slope from front to back. Skirt areas around the green were tricky. Usually excellent lies directly in front but off to the side was thick rough.

Fairways were just short of a 10. Very lush and green, offering a perfect launching pad. Rough was 2-4 inches thick. Enough to get your attention and make you work for it. Outside of the primary rough is desert area and lost ball.

Tee boxes were excellent as well, being level and lush. Sand traps were above average. They had about 1-2” of soft sand on top of hardpacked dirt.

Definitely a must play track. I would have probably squeezed onto one of the other Paiute courses but needed to get back into town to try and get a club fixed for tomorrow.

Played 1-23-21 late morning with John and Brain on a cold day with a little wind but not to bad. Tee boxes were nice and level with good coverage and minimal divot damage. Fairways were in great shape. lush with good coverage, good roll out and nice lies. Rough was a couple inches longer than fairways but very manageable. Was in two fairways bunkers that had nice semi-firm sand and easy to hit from. Greens were in great shape, semi-firm, fast and pure, real nice to putt on. Fun desert course with fairly wide fairways and large greens with some real nice water holes . Highly recommend.

Highlight of the weekend was the GK Plays on 1/23. I always have a great time with the GK crew and being in my hometown was awesome. Teed it up with John_T, Pisarski01, and Circaflex for a fantastic round.

Every time I've played a course at Paiute (3 full courses), it's in great shape, and Wolf did not disappoint. Fairways were lush and green, with complete coverage, no bare areas to be found. Rough was up a little, just enough to penalize for being off the fairway. Bunkers were filled with thick, beach like sand, not your typical desert bunker. Greens are incredible. Smooth and fast, which they have been every time I've played here in the last year or so.

Wolf is the more difficult of the three, but it doesn't really beat you up. Its a great Pete Dye design, but doesn't have any of the railroad ties bunkers like Sun and Snow. It does have the 15th hole, a Pete Dye Island green, and like typical Vegas, it's a bigger green but farther shot to hit it, and throw in the typical wind, it turns into an adventure.

Paiute is highly recommended for a Vegas trip. A nice mix of courses (Snow is my favorite) for all levels. 2 large practice areas, both with: all grass driving range, large putting area with multiple tiers, and a bunker/chipping area.

Played out here on the GK Event. Winter conditions were wonderful. Loved everything about the course. About the only thing they don't do is rush a cart to your car if they see you unloading at your car instead of the bag drop. Each course has it's own driving range, chip area and putting green so it pays to get out before your tee time. They were even ahead of schedule at mid day on a Saturday. POP was good, with minimal waiting every few holes. Tee boxes were in great condition with a flat place to tee off every time. Loved the fairways. Great grass to hit off every time I ended up there. The fairway bunkers were fair, not that deep but more than an inch to make it penal. Sand traps around the greens were deeper and pleasant to hit out of if you're confident in your sand game. Greens were true to the eye, flat and fast. One nugget about the pride they have in these courses, as I was on the cart path coming around a curve there were flat rocks in place of grass, that may not grow well there or just gets run over too much to grow well. There was a maintenance worker pulling the rocks out and pulling the grass or weeds out. So the conditions are great because they care about the way it looks and plays. Loved the layout, definitely a little bit more of a challenge than the resort courses, need to hit it straight off the tee or you will be in the rough, no real bail out areas for slices and hooks. A real joy to play when you're hitting straightish. Loved playing here and would look to play here every time I go to Vegas for golf.

What a great GK Plays outing despite it only being 10 of us. Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort was in fantastic shape, it was cool but not much wind, service was excellent all day long, man I love this place. We’ll be heading back there this Summer for another GK Plays. I’ll be posting an outing recap later tonight.

It’s been years since I played the Wolf Course. Last time out at the Paiute was a GK Plays outing on the Snow Mountain Course in 2016. I still like Snow Mountain best but the Wolf Course is a close second. My favorite hole of all three Paiute course is on the Wolf Course and that is none other than number 15 island hole. What a dramatic golf shot to play. A must for any golfer to experience. Check out the photos I posted.

Greens were so smooth, fast and mostly firm. A perfect 10 in my book. What a pleasure to roll the ball on and so fun to try to figure out. Fairways in great shape. Full coverage, firm and tight. Rough was similar turf to the fairways but little longer. Pretty easy to play from as the ball always sat up. Bunkers in great shape, quality sand, some footprints due to no rakes because of COVID-19 safety protocol.

From an organizer standpoint Paiute is an exceptional golf course to have an outing at. The clubhouse is magnificent to host an after play event, the staff is very friendly, experienced and professional. The golf courses are all spectacular and have multi tee boxes for all skill levels. Outstanding practice facilities and well organized setting. Highly Recommended.
