Played Lexington, Monday July 20 with a 7:14 tee time. Check in was a breeze with great staff at bag drop and in pro shop/check in. I was able to use the GK voucher from Riverwalk, and it was the quickest/easiest check in I've ever dealt with. The starter wasn't there near our tee time, so we decided to putt a little bit. When he finally showed up, he took our receipt and told us to wait for the other 2some joining us, in a snide tone. they finally showed up, a little past our 714 tee time and off we went.

The conditions on the course were pretty good. The first 5 holes were very nice, with lush and level tee boxes. The fairways provided excellent lies all day long (very lush) and the rough was pretty deep, sticky and therefore penal! Fortunately they had cut the rough, so I wonder how stickier it would have played a day earlier!

Anyways, after the first 5 hole, the tee box conditions started to fade, with numerous boxes providing unleveled stances and a hunt for a leveled ones. Also, I am not sure if it is just the environment, but the sand in the bunkers were more like hardly packed pebbles and rocks. It hadn't rained the night before, but man, the sand was hard packed and full of little rocks. I found this consistently throughout the course :(

On hole 9, we were told by the starter/marshall that we were not on the proper pace of play and to speed it up. we were actually finishing 9 at the 2 hour mark, and I think he forgot that we had to wait for the additional 2some joining us. Also, it was mine and my friends first time at the course, so we put thought into playing the course, you know, like pretending to know what we were doing.

then we got to hole 10... (laughing as I type this)

Anyways, the greens had a good amount of ball marks, mostly repaired -- provided good scoring conditions with good pace and true rolls; not extremely difficult greens, but on the wrong side and you could easily 3 putt.

I am glad I played this course; not something I would drive to Henderson for just to play the course, but fortunately I was out in Vegas for a job, so it worked out. also a plus that temps never got past 84 until much later in the day. thank you overcast skies! other than the sand and the anal starter, my friend and I enjoyed the course very much.

lots of tough par 5's. some forced lay up holes, and some great scenery of the course landscape and the Vegas strip.

I've waited a few days to write this as I have widely opposing opinions regarding different aspects of the course and wanted to make sure I had it all figured out before commenting.

I'll begin with the positives.
GREAT hospitality from EVERY person associated with the course. On a par with Indian Wells, they basically managed everything from taking my bag to the cart to moving it from the cart to the waiting area for pick-up and everything in between.

Fairways and bunkers were in very good condition, rough was dormant and the color difference was both picturesque and helpful. Greens putted fast and true. Overall I like the course layout (except #10, see below) but local knowledge would be REALLY helpful on several holes.

Restaurant is quite nice and the food was good AND reasonably priced for the area. Don't always get that combination, was a nice way to end the day.

Now the not so positives.
Played the whites, out of 18 tees only 4 were level (and 2 of those were par 3's). Also, on one hole (I think it was 14) there were untrimmed bushes blocking the front of the tee leaving only a couple narrow slots through which to hit a driver (if I were teeing off with an 8 iron it wouldn't matter!). Several tee markers were set back so far you could barely take a stance and getting behind the ball to check your alignment was impossible.

Starter said if I fixed my ball mark and one more on each green he'd be happy. Only one problem - the greens were so firm I barely left a mark all day! Now, I don't have a problem with firm greens (just play for the run-out), however, the course design and especially the set-up doesn't work with greens that firm. Most of the greens are slightly elevated above fairway level, but all the run-up areas were either longer grass, soft and damp, or both. That meant there was NO way to get a shot close to a front pin, so 6 holes consisted of playing past the pin and praying your downhill first putt stayed within 5 feet of the hole (or on the green).

#10 is a bad joke. Even 2 of the employees commented on it, neither favorably. When you have to walk to the front edge of the tee box to see where you're going and hit 7 or 8 iron off the tee on a par 4 there's something wrong - add in the hard greens and the only thing missing is a windmill and a clowns mouth (I hit a full SW approach, landed middle/front, bounced and rolled 20+ feet off the back edge and into a tough lie).

Finally, I asked about a yardage book and was told "we stopped using them with the GPS on the carts". 3 holes in and I realized this was the lamest GPS I'd seen in a long time, and not always very accurate either. #15 showed distance to the end of the bunker in the fairway of 183. Elevated tee with a tailwind, I hit my 185-190 carry club and struck it well - only to watch it bounce at the FRONT of, then INTO the bunker. Under those conditions, there's no way that club lands there - just to make sure I hit a second shot with a different club (that should have run out almost to the end of the fairway - JUST cleared the bunker. They either need to upgrade the GPS system or go back to yardage books, or both.

Overall, I enjoyed the day (hey, free golf is NEVER a bad day! lol), and would like to try the Concord course as well, hopefully when the greens are a little more receptive. I would come back at the available rates, but if the course set-up/condition and GPS issues were to remain, I'd probably look for someplace else at a similar rate.

Played the shotgun thanksgiving day event. Decent course with a good mix of holes. Pace of play moved along nicely. Real nice group of people, pretty much all locals. Friendly, helpful and inviting. The course conditions were decent for late November, except greens which were sanded and green speed varied greatly between holes. Some tee boxes not real level. Sand is awful. Heavy sand and thin with tons of rocks of all sizes. To the point that I just wanted to take the ball of of the sand because I didn't want to mess up my clubs. I did hear from our playing partners that they were under new management and looking to make improvements to the sand.

Played on Veterans' Day, with a 8:08a tee time, using a free 2some won at the GK summer Palm Springs event, with John_T. We played the silver tees, which seemed a bit shorter than the listed 6000 yards. Parking lot and range was surprisingly empty for a holiday, and they had alternate 15 inch holes set up on the Concord course.

Customer service was great, but kept to a minimum. Didn't see cart staff until we had already found and loaded our cart. Cart was stock with free water, and they provided a bag of range balls to warm up. Drink cart was around at least 5 times during the round. Starter got us out about 10 minutes early, behind a 3some with no one in front, and we finished in what seemed to be a slow 4 hours.

Conditions were pretty good. Tee boxes were the only negative, with many set either on sidehill lies, or were domed in the middle. Fairways were great, no thin areas and the reseed has fully grown in. Rough was about 1-2 inches, and varied from thick to thin in spots. I saw quite a few bunkers filled with water, including a fairway bunker on 10 that was completely full. Greens were very nice, medium/fast, smooth, with little amount of ball mark damage.

Overall, very happy with the course, minus the tees and bunkers. I normally don't play here, due to living clear across the valley, and the local price is a little higher (quoted at $65 when I made my tee time) compared to many courses I passed to get there.

Final leg of the mini-golf vacation. Used vouchers won at a GK Event. This course had a reputation of being pretty challenging, well it didn't disappoint. I played the gold tees at about 6500 yards or so. The front 9 was a walk in the park and I didn't see what all the worry was about. OH BOY!!!! the back 9 has some serious teeth to it. Hung on for a 91, but the back 9 was not comfortable at all...very tricky and long with an abundant amount of danger lurking all around. This course has some great views and each hole is quite interesting. Awesome experience. I REALLY suggest you play this track and enjoy some wonderful desert golf.

Played Lexington on Thursday July 31, 2014. We were a foursome, and tee'd off during the mid morning. The temps were going to be very hot so getting out early would have been better. The pace of play was not so great at 4.5 hours, this included skipping a hole. We were behind a foursome that appeared to have 3 beginners. So we skipped them to avoid a 5 hour plus round. I had played the Concord course a year or so ago, and greatly enjoyed it. Therefore we thought we should give Lexington a try.

The tee boxes were in excellent shape. They are dead level, and I did not notice hardly any crowning. Their was a bit of damage on the par 3's just like every other course.

The fairways were generally in very good condition, especially for being in the middle of Summer now, with very high temps. I did notice a fair amount of burned out patches, and some of them were in play during our round. The rough is virtually non-existent, thus your ball will run through a fairway, and into the desert areas if you are not accurate off the tee.

I found the bunkers on the course to be very frustrating. They did not appear to be waste areas, but they contained tons of rocks/gravel. In addition I found the level of sand to be quite thin, making traditional bunker shots nearly impossible.

The greens were in fairly good shape, I did notice a bunch of un-repaired ball marks on each hole. I suspect there was a lot of morning play, and people were not doing their part to repair after their approach shots. Some of the greens had inconsistent speed, and several were also quite bumpy.

Overall the course is very enjoyable, and has a fun layout. Obviously this course is nearly identical to the Concord course. If you have played one, you have played both. I really enjoy the elevated tee boxes, and the surrounding views.

Only had one customer service gripe, we saw the course marshall on about hole 7, we inquired into our pace to make sure we were keeping up, as we had not seen another group for a while. We also politely inquired into whether or not he could radio the beverage cart, as we were looking for adult refreshments. The marshall seemed to be very put off by our request, and seemed to take it as a personal affront as if our request was beneath him. Having played my fair share of resort courses, I have found that this is a simple request, and marshals or any other customer service member is usually happy to help out, on this particular day though that did not seem to be the case. Maybe he was having a bad day because of the 105 degree heat. Hopefully this was an isolated incident, as the rest of our interactions throughout the day were excellent.

Played the Lexington course on 11/29 with fellow GK'er Mr.Bugs. We had some free rounds that we won at the Monarch Beach GK event that we had to use up. Soooo glad we didn't let those expire! The course was in great shape. The fairways were green, lush, and very nice. The greens were great. They rolled true and about a 9 on the stimp. I quickly discovered that they were very firm, and if the pins were in the back, I always used the center number and the ball would release to the back. There were a fair amount of unrepaired ball marks, and I found myself cleaning up my lines quite often. The greens have some major undulations (like the 18th) and being on the wrong level can easily lead to a 4-putt. The tee boxes were pretty good. A couple needed leveled, but not too bad. My only complaint about this course are holes 10 and 11. On 10, from the Gold tees you have no idea where to even aim your tee shot. I really wish we had driven on ahead to see where the fairway actually was. On 11, the Gold tee box was fronted with shrubs. Mind you, this is a 580 yd. par five with at least a 150 yd carry over trouble. I had to back up 2 club lengths and pray the driver got the ball up fast enough. I've never seen that on a course, and honestly, I hope I don't ever see it again.

Overall, the Lexington Course is pretty challenging, and a lot of fun. The staff was great. The food in the restaurant was very good, and the views of the strip are awesome. It was a great day of golf, and for that I have to thank Johnny GK. Thanks Johnny!! Can't wait to play in another event!

Played 11/18 with other GK'rs thanks to GK and some free 2somes. The course was is great shape tee to green. Fairways were great to play from green and lush. The rough was really thick and hard to get a club on the ball when sitting down. Greens were perfect with a true roll and very consistent. The layout is very non forgiving with many blind shots and uneven lies but overall presents some great challenges and very enjoyable.

Rough is real thick and tough to hit from. Sand traps in poor shape semi hard with a lot of small rocks. Greens are medium speed and rolling fairly well. Fun course to play with a lot of elevation changes and great views of the strip.
