What a great day at Revere with GK Plays. Thanks again to JohnnyGK for setting this up and to those GKers who donated their prize certificates to let a few of us moochers join along for free. We had a blast here on a picture perfect day overlooking the entire city skyline from this roller coaster of a course. The other reviews cover the conditions pretty well. I thought things were good overall. Some spots where the overseed didn't quite take as nicely, but mostly lush and the rough was fairly deep and nasty in most places. Some thin patches on a handful of greens. They got a little bumpy toward the end of the day, but the speed was nice. I was in a few bunkers. The first couple were not good (lots of pebbles and very thin top layer of sand) and the third one was pretty good. Ironically, I hit good shots out of the bad bunkers and a terrible shot out of the good one!!! This is a really fun course that will kick your butt if you are at all off your game. I love that almost every tee box is elevated for great views, long drives and perspective on the hole ahead, but in turn that means most greens are elevated, too. You go down and back up a lot through this canyon course, so distances can be hard to judge. The most challenging aspect in my opinion is that if you miss a green, you will rarely be left with an easy recovery shot. Thick rough, steep mounds, menacing bunkers, etc. Look forward to coming back again someday for a rematch.

Tees: Gold

Fairways 8/10 Nice lush green grass fairways. Very little problems here ball sitting up nicely . Fairways have some slope to them here and are all carved into a mountain between homes. You get some stances that are sidehill and downhill even with well placed tee shots.

Tees: 7.5/10 Mostly all level, some divot damage on the par 3's. Mostly lush tees good shape.

Bunkers: Can't rate was not in any for the day, looked semi-firm.

Greens 7/10 Greens were OK. I would rate them a 7 rolling medium paced speed. The putting green was slower than the course so know that going in.

Rough 8/10 Lush and a club grabber depending on where you land. Some places it was 2-3 inches and ball would nestle down. Other places could produce a flier lie.

Layout: Very interesting course...I played it once about 7 years ago. Lets just say lucky I was having a very good ball striking day off the tee---if you are not in play here with your driver your dead meat. They had a couple quirky holes like #10 where I hit about a 320 yd draw down the hill landing in a ditch 20 yds in front of the green that was hidden. They also have a couple holes where there are hazards right in the middle of the fairway in say a 260-280yd landing zone. If you like to bomb the ball this is a place where maybe a 3 wood or long iron is the play on say 4 holes out here. Really enjoyed the 605 yd par 5 hole on the back nine that I almost reached in two. I enjoyed the variety that this course brought for a change of pace but probably would not choose it as a first choice on my list of Vegas courses as the layout is fun but could be called funky. As my playing partner who is a scratch golfer also commented we had a lot of say 125 yd approach shots in the middle of the fairway where you might not be able to see the pin. For sure a golf course if you were a member you could enjoy with course knowledge. I really enjoyed bombing tee shots off all of the elevated tees on this course--seems like they were all elevated. My favorite hole was #2. Good times.

Played last Friday with the GK Plays at noon. I think the course looked lush from tee to green. The fairways and rough were over seeded for the winter and were in great condition. Rough was cut to about an inch and a half; sometimes my ball would sit up on it and sometimes it nestled down in it. The biggest problem is that if you are in the rough, it tends to be a side hill lie, compounding your misery and testing your shot-making abilities. The greens were not as fast as I'd like, but they were quick enough, fairly smooth, and held most shots. The biggest downer here is the bunkers; most of which had a thin layer of hard-packed sand. Several of the tees (we played the whites/silver) were not level and some had a lot of divot damage. I like the course, but I have yet to score well here. It is a beautiful and challenging course with great customer service.

Played 11-8-13. This course is not for the feint of heart. Tight fairways and medium size greens don't leave much room for error. the rough was thick and punishing. The layout has been determined by the terrain. They follow the ravines around the development. I like courses that don't just have you hitting driver on every hole except the par 3's. I used driver. 3 wood, 3 hybrid and 5 hybrid off the tee. The bunkers were hard packed and some quite full of pebbles. Many of the tee boxes ( at least the silver) were not level and some were torn up pretty bad. Greens were moderately fast and rolled true. Fairways were lush and in great condition.

Played with the GK group. Great time, great bunch of guys.
First trip around the Lexington layout. Nicely designed holes. Generously wide fairways and nonpenal rough. We played the Silver tees which is good distance for mid teen handicaps. Not many blind shots, but it would be good to play the course a few times to get a feel for carry distances. Lots of elevated tee shots.
Service was very good. Bag guys, cart girls and pro shop staff were helpful and professional.
Even had PBR on beer special -- $2 a can.
Carts have GPS which was mostly accurate, and the $5 yardage book was a good investment.
Greens are large and smooth which made putting pleasant. But bear in mind you are in the foothills of LV and the slope down the valley affects the speed and break of the putts.
Greens were softer than I would have expected for Bermuda, fairways are Bermuda but winter rough is rye grass, but cut short enough not to be unfair.
Two lesser highlights are the hard bunkers and many tees are not level.
No two holes look alike and there is a lot of variety to the hole shapes.
Nice course to play.

1. As some have said, the staff was so awesome and accommodating that I would almost come back solely on that.
2. The practice green was like carpet, shaggy carpet. I find it frustrating when the practice green does not match the greens on the course. In this case I was praying they were not the same.
3. Course was wide open. I didnt see a single person and for the first time in a long time, I was able to "practice" different shots off the tee, approach (safe vs. tin cup) and into the green.
4. Greens were nice. rolled well, as is standard in the desert, they were very firm but thats to be expected.
5. fairways were above average.
6. bunkers were below average but not too terrible. Sand is a bit heavy.
7. rough, really wasn't there. or it was cut really short

The summary, if you are going to play Lexington and you want to score low, your best bet is to play it twice. There are some gimmick holes (completely blind shots) and its hard to know what the roll is going to be. That said, I had fun. Lost a sleeve of balls. 2 of my lost balls were on shots that I thought were going to be gems and they were never found. My only concern was I probably have this outlook because I didn't pay the $129 rack rate. I played for free. If I was paying $129. I would not be returning because in San Diego $129 gets you some pretty darn nice courses...Twice.

Finally got to use our Revere Golf Certificate we won at the Mt Woodson GK Event last year. Drove to Henderson Sun. 1/20 - staying at the South Point Casino (link for hotels on the Revere Golf website). Called the course a few days earlier and was able to book an 8:44 tee time on the (Lexington) course for Monday, 1/21/13. Arrived early (temp was 39, resulting in a frost delay). They didn't have any balls for the driving range set up either (which is a drive away, through a tunnel), so we had to wait a little. Pro Shop Staff were Great. Practice greens were browned out terribly, chipping/pitching practice area w/bunker were in poor condition. Echoing what others have said about bunkers...in a word "HORRIBLE". No sand/hard/and A LOT of rocks. Mud Hens have made a real 'mess' of any hole near the water. :( Concord course looked to be in better shape than the Lexington, and seemed to be the course of choice as there were not many playing the Lexington - which is seemingly a more difficult course to play for men (especially when playing from the tips) as there are several blind holes. Tee boxes were in good shape, fairway was average for typical winter conditions, greens on this course are obviously smaller than those on the Concord, and were frozen and hard to play up until about the back nine when the greens 'started' to thaw out, allowing balls to check. We couldn't even fix any divots (when there were ones) due to hardness of the greens. But it is winter, and this is a True Desert Course! This course is canyon-like, and rolls to the center or left to right/right to left. Forward tees are VERY Lady friendly. You can download the hole by hole overview booklet online for a small fee. Carts do have a small GPS unit, but hindsight, I would've downloaded or simply printed each page of the booklet to take along with next time. Having played this course once now, we would certainly be better prepared and play differently next time. Greens had many subtle undulations, rolled medium/not fast, and ran fairly true for the most part. Rough was very playable. Wind really wasn't a major factor for us today, but is obvious it could wreak havoc funneling through the canyons. Cart girl made regular rounds. Pace of place was nice and liesurely, twosome we played with were great, (our cart sounded like it was ready to be put out of its misery though). Placement of ball washers was sporadic. Recommend keeping a wet rag to address cleaning needs of clubs/balls throughout the day. Rest area facilities you need to use the Golf Cart key to access. Divot mix replenishment available at each rest area. Overall though this course (with exception of the bunkers, which you hope not to get in anyway), was Very Enjoyable. We would play it again (not at the full rack rate), if the opportunity ever presented itself again. Vistas of the Vegas Strip were beautiful. Clubhouse and food offerings Very Nice. Staff were Wonderful!! Glad we got to use this prior to expiration 31Jan13 :) Great Road Trip!!!

Played Monday, 1/21. Start to finish, a great experience. Golf shop remembered us from yesterday. Customer service from bag drop to cart drop off was excellent. Drink cart was around 2 to 3 times per nine.

The WIDE fairways were in good condition. A few bare spots on the first 3 fairways, but improved over the course of the round. Rough was overseeded in the fall, and was around 1-3 inches, with very little bare spots. Greens were OK. They have a brown look to them from a distance, but look like a dark green up close. Quite a few unrepaired ball marks, and coots had bombed the 17th green. The greens ran a little slower than the practice green, around a medium pace.

Tee boxes were good, the Par 3s had a lot of divot damage, and pretty level. The major (and only) downside to the course was the sand in the bunkers. Lots of pebbles and small rocks in both the fairway and greenside bunkers. Sand was packed in, and almost the same as hitting out of the desert.

Overall, a great course, outside of the bunkers. Very enjoyable, wide fairways, and elevated tee boxes that led to some great feeling drives. Terrific views of the Strip and surrounding mountains. Well worth the $50 to $100 green fees.

Played 12/10/12 9AM Monday before flying home. It was a chilly morning so course wasn't crowded. There were lots of 2 somes. Ran late so didn't go to the range and only rolled 2 putts and we went out. I've played here few times so I knew what to expect. This course plays down hill for the majority of the 18 holes. Only couple holes are played up hill since most of the times, you ride your cart up the hill and then hit your tee shots down hill, which is very thrilling experience. For Winter condition, course was in excellent shape. There were some brown patches and bare spots but none came into play for us. Greens were in good shape and ball rolled well in medium fast pace. If I had to put a number on it, it probably ran 9.5 on stimp. Rough unfortunately was in pristine condition so it was difficult to hit long clubs out of the rough. Only main issue I perceived was the bunkers as others have noted previously. There are huge rocks in the bunker that can damage your clubs. I highly recommend thoroughly inspecting the area near your ball and pick up whatever rocks and pebbles in your way as I found a small rock ding on my brand new vokey wedge after a bunker shot. If anyone from Troon golf is reading this, I hope they replace the sand and take all the rocks out of there.

Highlight of the round came when we got to 4th hole. There was a coyote hanging out by the green, which was very cool even though we were little hesitant it might be hungry....LOL. P.S. it took a huge poop on one of the other greens.
