Played in the GK Cup final in one of the secondary groups with Mattias, Rob and Perry. Had a blast as always when playing with other GK'ers. Thank you to Johnny for scoring us a great deal at a premium course and Black Gold for having us. Great views, challenging and fun layout in a peaceful setting. Lots of forced carries off the tee with narrow fairways and elevated greens. Conditions were as others have stated on this day with some thin fairway lies and somewhat slow maybe a little bumpy at times greens. Overall I felt the greens were consistent and easy to putt on and conditions better then expected for this time of year.

Played Sunday 8/6 at 11AM. Course is in fair to good condition with somewhat smooth greens. Fair amount of ball marks but surfaces were good. Fairways are lush but splotchy in areas but overall not bad to play from. Pace of play was fantastic with no one in front or behind all day. Comparing to Vista Valencia, a similar executive course in the area. El Cariso is way better option at this time as its in better shape and a much better experience due to vastly superior pace of play, value, condition as well as a much more pleasant staff.

Played 5/7 with LA Golf Group utilizing the GK Coupon. Really liked the layout, no two holes the same with difficult sight lines off the tee. Overall its a pretty flat course but lots of subtle slopes come into play especially off the fairway but kinda hard to find it when cant see the fairway from the tee. The course provided yardage books to aide in the struggle and much appreciated. Agree with Sizpez's prior review with regard to condition. Yea, its a little rough in places but understandable considering the big picture. Overall very playable, a great test of golf and an enjoyable experience. Looks to only be getting better as you can see the work being done. The greens were fantastic. Hope they keep improving and I look forward to playing it again. I would definitely recommend especially utilizing the GK coupon. Unfortunately, one aspect that added to our enjoyment of the course was the lack of golfers and feeling that we had the place to ourselves. Maybe it was the weather as there was threat of rain but clearly more players are needed. Great practice facilities and the staff was pleasant and proud of the work being done.

Played yesterday with other GK'ers and LA Golf Group. Not much to add to what was already said regarding conditions. The course looked lusher then it played with full coverage but thin/hard winter fairways. We always play as group in January but this year I will be out there in the summer as it softens up as I'm pretty sure based on how it played/looked yesterday it will outstanding in a couple months. Everything about this place caters to the avid golfer and should be a model to which other courses should try to emulate. Great layout, fantastic condition, outstanding practice facilities and unpretentious feeling. I wish I lived closer. Regarding pace, upon driving up to the course the parking lot was packed as well as the practice range it looked like we were in for a long day. However, with the spacing it was under 4 1/2 hours. We waited some but overall the pace was great considering how crowded they were.

Played 10/27, Bucket List Golf. Walked with a Caddie and could not stop smiling the whole day. I have played courses in better condition but have never enjoyed a round of golf more then walking Pebble on a perfect day with no wind, temps in the high 70's and not a cloud in the sky. Cant say enough about the experience of walking on these historic grounds. Strolling the fairways sipping 18 year old scotch with my brother in law and listing to our Caddie Tim telling stories while pulling clubs giving us lines and advise was something i will never forget. I now understand why this place is so special to so many, there is so much history at every turn and just hitting golf shots at Pebble is pure pleasure. From pulling my wedge long and right on 7 and playing off the 8th tee box short sided having to land the perfect flop shot on the fringe only to have your ball race downhill past the hole, hitting a perfect drive on 8 to the edge of the cliff and trying to cover the ravine to the green, then coming up short of the green on 14 and trying to get over the false front and the bunker to a tucked pin behind the bunker. The course is in outstanding shape tee to green. As far as condition, you could critique it and say the fairways were slightly thin and greens were slightly bumpy but overall the course played just fine and you would be missing the point.

Played Thursday 9/17 in the afternoon. Just wanted to provide a course condition update. Vista has been spot watering their fairways due to drought conditions and the results are fantastic. Fairways have full coverage with only minimal divot imperfections. Best i have seen these fairways in a long time and they are a pleasure to play from. Areas outside the first cut of rough is dry and mostly hard packed. Greens are a little spongy and soft with a fair amount of un repaired ball marks and the only critique that could be found. Hopefully some work on the greens is planned for the near future. Glad to see the work being put into this course as it remains IMHO the best executive course in the LA area.

Played 27 holes Sun 8/23 9AM w/GK coupon. Fantastic deal, Thank you, GK. My first time playing here. After reading all the rave reviews, it was time to see what all the hype was about. La Purisima did not disappoint and now i know why some like it so much. Great layout in a picturesque setting, you really feel like your out there with only the sounds of the local wildlife. Very mountainous course with a stunning backdrop of rolling hills and blue sky's. No two holes the same with challenging aspects everywhere. Lots of blind shots making course knowledge a premium here. Several times reaching the fairway and realizing that there was room after standing on tee box not knowing where to hit it. Played the front 9 twice and it left me wanting more and really appreciating the required lines off the tees. Fun layout that is hard and fair once you know hoe to play it. The conditions of this course was outstanding with lush full coverage throughout. The green were really nice to putt on visually pleasing. Bunker were nice to play from with plenty of sand and for the most part raked and ready to catch errant shots. Overall top notch experience and i cant wait to get back to La Purisima for another go at it.

Played Sat 8/22 twilight with 7 other GK & LAGG friends. The course is in good shape now, i played it a few years ago and it was better then but overall considering the drought nothing stands out that would prevent me from playing again. The draw here is the ocean vistas and challenging greens and that all remains at high level. The holes that play near the ocean are nothing short of spectacular. The greens are fast and true, visually they show signs of being crusty and imperfections but they putt great and true to Sandpiper standards. The course has mostly full coverage but is dry in some areas with a few fairway lies that play as hardpan. Overall great experience, we paid twilight rates @ $110 to ride and finished in daylight and I would play again no questions asked. If water wasn't an issue in the area, I'd expect a little better coverage and a lusher feel for the price but im sure they area struggling to keep it as good as it is and its very playable and highly recommended right now.

Played 7/10 twilight. Been playing here a lot lately for some reason, figured it was time to update my review. They have been going through a process of spot watering due to drought. Fairways are looking and playing pretty well, lush with good coverage. Greens are soft and a little bumpy with a fair amount of ball marks and afternoon spike marks. Overall they are totally playable but appear to need a rolling. Bunkers are hit and miss with some still unraked with numerous footprints. Pace was great at about 3 hrs. Vista is a fun layout and you will use all the clubs in your bag with a variety of holes. You get what you pay for here and at the price of a bucket of balls in the afternoon, i will keep coming back. They also appear to be working on the course and its gets a little better each time I play lately.

Played twilight on 4/17. Play here frequently due to proximity and low cost. Generally the course usually plays decent and usually walk away feeling satisfied considering the cost with their email specials. On this day we payed $19 for the golf, cart, range balls, lunch and 2 beers. At that price the golf feels free. Unfortunately the course feels deteriorated to the point that the deal is questionable. The fairways are filled with divots, bad lies all day long. The greens were recently punch but are already littered with un repaired divots and the bunkers are mostly un raked with foot marks and large craters so bad, you can trip on the way to your ball. Maybe they should charge more as the new clientele appear to have no regard for the course and the course currently appears to have no desire to clean up the mess left behind. Maybe its temporary and the greens keeper is on vacation. I hope so as i have stated in prior reviews for an executive course, the layout is fantastic and when maintained Vista is fun to play and a challenge.

Played 4/13 twilight with RGM2525 in our first round GK match play Nickesquire joined us. Had a great time with some fellow GK'ers on one my favorite local golf courses. The course played tough on this day with typically heavy winds in the afternoon. Greens were a little slower than usual but rolled nice and held shots. They are doing maintenance in the fairways and appear as is if they need some water to heal the recent vericutting but overall not too bad to play on and will be nice once healed. Wow, after they punch the greens next week and the fairways heal, this place is going to be in their typical prime summer condition. I will be playing lots this summer, cant wait. River Ridge takes pride in the course and it shows.

Played on Sat 3/21 Twilight. We had a group of 12 golfers out for our annual LAGG/GK team scramble.

What a treat to see Johnny GK out there to support us and hand out some those cool new GK shoe bags. Thank you Johnny, you are truly an ambassador for local golf in your support of both golf courses and players in this website and all you do around the game.

The course was very accommodating as usual and condition are outstanding right now. Greens rolled pure with very little imperfections. Fairways, tee boxes were lush and the rough was thick and penalizing. Fun layout with lots of variety in elevation, doglegs and distances. Great time and would play again without question. On a side note a bunch of us stayed for their buffet, it was outstanding with a carving station of Prime Rib & Turkey, salad bar, roasted veggies and loaded mashed potatoes. I think the price was $22 a head but worth every penny. Great way to end a fantastic day.
