Played Saturday morning with a tee time of 8:45 for a twosome. Got there about 40 minutes early and grabbed a small bucket to loosen up. There were two foursome's waiting on the tee box and four or five people on the range.

Went up to the first tee after taking some swing at the range and rolling about 15 putts, and to my amazement there was nobody around. There starter came out and asked if me and my buddy were ready and informed us that the twosome that had booked the other slot with us still hadn't checked in yet. After hitting our tee shots we heard an announcement to hold up as they were going to send a single out with us, and we got paired up with a nice gentleman.

I walked as is my usual preference and the other two each had a cart. Pace of play was just under 4 hours which for a Saturday morning was exceptional based on prior experiences here. We didn't have to wait to hit a shot and the group behind us was at least a full hole behind for most of the day.

Greens have recovered nicely from the punching they recently received and rolled smooth a little on the slow side 7/10. Fairways were lush with few brown spots and I can't recall having a bad lie 7/10. Tee boxes were mostly level and with very few divots but could have used a good shave as some were a little fuzzy 6/10. Rough went from hard dirt to, hard to find the ball it all depended on the hole and how far off the fairway you went. 6/10. Sand was nicely raked and had no problems coming out of the green side one as it was nice and soft. Fairway traps varied from soft and fluffy to a little harder. I prefer the harder ones and it makes it easier to pick your ball clean. 6/10.

Cart girl was around a couple of times and wish she would have been by a couple on the front side, but was extremely nice. Service is always top notch here and I will be returning and hope to run into the same POP next time, but am not holding my breathe.

Not much to add to the earlier review by Kevin. I like the new look of the course, but I think that the sand in the bunkers is almost to soft and fluffy.

Was nice to play with some great guys from GK, unfortunately, I didn't bring my best game, or even an average game.

Met TonyBarrett here Sunday morning with a 10:00 tee time. Got out on time and POP was a little under 5 hours. Not bad for the time of day on a weekend. Paid $42 to walk on a fairly easy course to walk.

Tee boxes were in decent shape. Some were a little furry, not bad. Mostly level, never had a problem finding a place to hit from. Fairways thin in some areas not bad, but still had good lies never a problem to hit from. Rough was about the same as the fairways.

Greens held shots nicely, very few ball marks and I found to putt true, but the flat stick was working so that could be an influence. However I did miss a couple shortys, my fault not the greens. Little to no ball marks.

Bunkers, here is were I wasn't completely satisfied. Both that I were in had good levels of sand but looked and played like they hadn't been turned over in weeks as they were both crusty. Not a major issue, but have seen better there.

Overall I would say the conditions were well worth the green fee and I will be back.

Played on Saturday morning with a 7:00 tee time with three friends, and got paired up with a nice gentlemen Blair. POP was a little over 4 hours, only a cloudy morning. Ended up having to pull out the umbrella on the 13th hole and by the 15th it was a solid rain, coming down, but that wasn't going to stop any of us from finishing. I have avoided this course for years based on the fact the fairways were always either super soggy or extremely dry, but can see myself putting it back on the normal rotation, as conditions have dramatically improved.

Cost was their normal weekend price of $55 that included the cart that me and one of my friends passed on and walked the course. It is a fairly easy course to walk as it's mostly flat except a couple of the opening holes that cross a street. I like the layout here, and think it's a fairly easy course to score on if played correctly.

Greens were running a little slow, could be from the recent rains, but they putted true. Fairways were lush with good coverage, and I can't think of one time that I had a bad lie in the fairway.

Rough could be hit and miss some thin, with some sort of weeds growing in spots other places so long I walked right over my ball before a more thorough search found it. But it was always playable. Tee boxes were fairly level a couple could use a little work, however I was never in a position that I couldn't find someplace to hit from that was level with good coverage.

The bunkers were slightly hard packed, again could be from the recent rains as they also seemed a little damp. Some played nicely to get out of, others made it could of testy.

A good time was had, and as mentioned before, could see the course getting placed back in the rotation.

Played on Friday 3/25 as a twosome with a 1:42 tee time for $50 each thanks to GN. Got there around 1:15 and checked in nobody was on the tee box, but was told that we needed to wait for our tee time before heading out (kind of sucked but whatever). Other than that I thought the service was good. Only saw the cart girl once, and it was on the 5th green, would have been nice to see her on the back nine also.

POP was right around 4 1/2 hours after catching a threesome on hole 6, that was being held up by a twosome of women that seemed like they were doing more talking than golfing. I don't know what happened to them on the back nine, unless a couple of groups let them play through. There was also a backup at the 18th tee of two other groups that slowed things down dramatically but only for the last hole.

First time to the course and boy what a great looking course, but one that you really need to play a few times first to be able to score well.

The greens putted true, but weren't to quick. I would think that they are usually a little faster just by they way they played, but having never been there before maybe that is just there normal speed. They seemed very firm, and you wanted to land short of the hole otherwise you would just be at the back of the green.

Sand was soft and fluffy and nice to play out of. Fairways were tight, but had a great lies and gave plenty of roll. Tee boxes were all in great condition with a few of the tees boxes mostly par 3's having to find a spot to tee from due to divots.

Overall, the conditions are nice, and for the $50 rate I would return. With that being said I don't think I would ever pay the normal rack rate, as coming from Ventura County and having all the courses up there in the fantastic condition they are in the conditions of this course weren't that much better.

Played Friday February 19 at 9:15. Got paired with a pair of gentleman and the wife of one of them who were very kind. They happened to be Marshalls at the course and were getting in their rounds for the week.

Pace of play was right around 3 hours and fifteen minutes. Tee boxes where in good shape mostly level with divots on the par 3's but not to the point you couldn't find a place to hit from. Fairways were a mixture of brown and green, looking like they wanted to come back after the recent rain, but good lies were found. Wasn't in a sand trap so no comments about those, but they looked acceptable. Greens held shots well and putted true, however they seemed a little slow.

Westlake is a short course par 67 that will boost your confidence and give you a decent place to work on your irons and short game.

And for only $20.50 using the weekday walking coupon here on GK it's a good deal.

Played balboa New Years Eve day and showed up around 10:30 course was packed and took a little while to get out as a twosome from the waiting list. Played in a little under 5 hours, once we finally got out.

Tee boxes where in decent shape lush, with even lies. Some of the shorter holes a little chewed up but not bad. Fairways were brown, still had decent coverage and didn't have a problem hitting off them, just dormant winter grass. Sand in the bunkers was nice just a little wet.

The greens are a different story. Do people just not know how to fix ball marks. I know this is a busy course but comeon there must have been a dozen that I fixed every hole. Towards the end of the day they got really bumpy. I can only assume that it's from the amount of play, but they need to be rolled or something. Speed was up but with the bounces putting was a challenge.

A good day was had, but I will probably only play here without a tee time as the odds of getting out with two courses seems to make it easier

Played on September 20th with a 1:00 tee time after receiving an email from them for a free round of golf. (only had to pay for the cart fee). Went out as a threesome with 2 friends of mine. POP was right around 3 and a half hours, probably due to the fact that it was way to hot to be playing golf.

The tee boxes were chewed up on most of the holes, due to the par 4's needing layups to get around the doglegs. Fairways were in good shape with decent to good coverage in most all areas.

The rough was a long in some areas, and almost hardpan in others, but then again it's supposed to be penal and that is what you get for straying of the fairway.

The greens had some ball marks, but for the most part putted true. As others have stated, it's best to be below the hole on this course otherwise you could be in for some three putts.

I wasn't in any sand but one of my partners was and stated that it was so hard you almost had to pick it clean with can make for a tough shot.

A good time was had, not a big fan of the course as it is a little to quirky for my taste, but have a event for a friends school so wanted to get back out here to get some sort of knowledge before playing in the event. Beverage cart wasn't seen at all, and considering it was over 100 degrees out that is a big disappointment in my book.

Will be back for the event in a month, but it might be another 10 years before I make it back here with all the other courses in the area.

Played Friday afternoon before the holiday with some friends. Course was in good shape, and is an enjoyable layout. POP was around 4 hours 15 minutes to 4 and a half hours. Stuck behind a three some for the front nine, with 2 of them leaving after nine.

The tee boxes are in great shape with very few ball divots, good coverage and fairly even lies. The fairways although are also in good shape considering the drought. The rough varies from sometimes needing to be trimmed to thin, depending on the hole, but my bad for not being in the fairway. Greens held shots well and rolled true (only downfall to the greens is the geese and some of the greens being overrun by droppings especially the 18th.

I would play again, and had a good time. The upgraded restaurant food is good, but at $10 for a quesadilla is a little on the high side, and I will probably find someplace else to eat for the price.

Played the course the morning of August 29th, with a 6:42 tee time as a foursome with three friends. The course was running about 5 to 10 minutes behind already so I assumed we were going to be in for a long day. POP was about 4 hours and 15 minutes so once we got going it wasn't that bad of a wait.

Course was in good conditions considering the drought we are in with lush lies in most areas of the fairway. The rough was little thin, but it played didn't play bad or to harsh. Sand was soft. Tee boxes were in good shape mostly level except for a couple. Not to many divots except for the par 3's. Greens ran smooth, but weren't very quick at all. They held shots like darts, and I had a couple of iron shots into the greens that instead of spinning back or releasing got ended up looking like a fried egg in the sand.

I am used to playing in the Ventura area as it is cooler, and because of the wetter air from the ocean the courses seem to be in a little better shape, but I really commend the grounds crew, and would return.

Played 06/27 with a 7:15 tee time. The group in front of us was running a little late, so the starter got us at around 7:06. Played as a twosome with a buddy of mine in a little under four hours.

The prior reviews are spot on and the course is in excellent shape.

The greens being probably the best I have played on in years and would rate as a 9/10.

Fairways all had great coverage and wonderful lies. 8/10. Rough was similar to the fairways with maybe an inch and a half to two inches in length.

Bunkers were groomed and fluffy, which I really like except when in a fairway bunker that I found myself in. (My fault not the courses but the condition was great.)

Tee boxes were lush with minimal to no divot damage. Don't know if it was just me, but they seemed to be raised towards the fairways leaving what felt like a slight uphill lie. But I didn't consider it problematic.

I will be back soon, and only hope that the conditions, and POP remain outstanding.

Played on Sunday morning 6/7 with three friends. All had a good time and the POP was right around 4 hours.

The greens were soft and held shots nicely, most greens had very few if any ball marks and putted true. Didn't notice any balls bouncing up the the hole either.

The fairways were mostly thin, but still had enough coverage not to be hitting off hardpan. They played nicely gave a little extra roll and was still able to make solid contact. The rough wasn't really to penal and didn't affect to much. Only a couple of areas were I was hitting off dirt, but then again isn't that the point to make it harder.

The one trap I was in was nice a fluffy and made for a decent trap to play from. Can't comment on the others or the fairway bunkers, but they all looked about the same.

Tee boxes were lush and had nice coverage, with some of the par 3's and shorter 4's having some divot issues, but you could always find a place to hit from. I didn't notice if any boxes were completely uneven to the point that I couldn't find a comfortable stance either.

All in all a fun course, that isn't to tough but still tests your game. Will play in a regular rotation.
