Played Babe for the first time on 9/18/16. I've played the Ike many times, but I guess I was avoiding to play this course. And I could see why I was avoiding it. It is tight and you need (for sure!) to hit shots.

Course condition was OK. The fairway condition seemed like a little better than the previous reviews. It wasn't lush, but had enough grass. Rough was the similar, but on certain places it was thick and tough to get out. Greens were rolling well. Just comparing with Ike standard, I thought it was a tad slower for that course.

Hole 3 has a temporary green 100 yards in from the actual green. It's only 3-4 yard diameter and the grass is not cut to green length. I smoked my putt and it didn't make it to the cup!

As stated in the previous review, for the price we pay, the course is not in the shape it should be. I would give another month and see if the condition improves more.

Played with a group on 11/16/15. Played the week before to know the course. And that really helped for the outing this week.

Course is in good shape. The greens are almost completely healed. A couple holes probably needs another week, but the healed ones were running smooth and medium fast. The greens were a little soft for my taste, but was receptive. The fairway was overall in good shape, but some places were damp and soft. Rough is lush and thick. Some places are deep and if you missed the fairway, you did get punished for it. Sand was good but not great. Plenty of sand in most of the ones that I got in. Customer service was good. Cart girl came by, still with the weather not being that good.

This course does have two different views, and it is fun. The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the wind on the long Par 3 7th (barely got on green but probably had to hit 250 to get to the back pin), and the little rain we got! But overall, it was fun to play the course.

Played today with a group. First time in 5 years playing this course. I've heard that this course has been dry for the last couple of years. And that has kept me away.

Greens rolled pretty well. Fast and firm. If you want your shot to hold, you needed to spin the ball. You needed to play some shots smart, or you were going to see the ball rolling off the green.

The fairway. The first 9 holes was decent, considering the dry condition. But still had bare spots. The back 9 was not that good. 17 and 18th was worse. Had many times hitting off dirt in the middle of the fairway. The rough was the same. I just thought more bare spots were on the rough.

Sand was pretty good. Had good amount of sand on the holes that I was in.

Customer service was great. People were nice and very organized. Cart girl came around almost every 3-5 holes. And there were plenty of water jugs around the course. Needed that with the 100+ degree heat.

I will think of coming back to play. Course condition need to improve for the price.

Played late afternoon on 8/28/15. It was probably THE HOTTEST day of the week. My car temp said it was 112F! Took my father in law, who was in town from Japan. Why not take him to Hideki Matsuyama's home course!

It's been a couple years since I played last. Challenging setting, need some distance to score, and knowing the course is a must. Greens are always challenging, and if you make a mistake, you do get punished. Course condition was pretty good for the summer. Fairway and rough was doing well in this drought. I noticed that they put in a lot of woodchips around the course (did get punished for hitting a shot there!). Sand condition was pretty good. Greens rolled pretty well. It wasn't the fastest green that I've experienced there, but rolled well and controlling speed was key. I thought the greens were a little firm. I do spin the ball, but it bounced and rolled on a couple of holes. Very satisfied with the condition.

Encountered good two good group. One was 5 ladies, and they were playing on their pace, couple looked like more of a beginner. They let us go after 5 holes. Then we ran into a group on the 11th. They had one person that had to leave and they were waiting for the cart to come back. Then we got to the 16th (no one was playing in that insane hotness) and the 4 some was EXTREMELY slow. Took more than 10-15 minutes to finish putting. Then the next two holes were the same. After every shot, we waited at least 10-15 minutes. We found on the 18th green that they were playing for some money, but who in the world would take that long for four people to finish hitting/putting even with money on the line???? The nice group caught us up on the 18th, and accidentally shot into us later on(couldn't see us because we were on the other side of the hill). And they did not repair anything. Left the sand with foot prints and divots, greens divots were not repaired as well. My father in law was really getting mad at this group. I was glad we only had to deal with them for 3 holes.

Played today in the afternoon. Also played last week. The conditions were the same last week to this week. Greens are the best part of the course, there are in good shape. A little soft but was receptive. Fairways are doing ok. There are spots in the fairway that are thin with some bare spots. The rough was the same as well.

They have a good deal going. Twilight rate starts from noon. Walking for $19 is not bad at all and the course was pretty empty. Was sandwiched between two foursomes and with playing solo, I took my time and hit 2 shots per hole to work on my game. And even with that it only took just under 4 hours to finish the round. That is not bad at all for some enjoyment and improving your skills.

USGA is doing a study on play time at the course. They are handing out a GPS tracking device and is checking where you are every couple or few minutes. With the way the course is, it should give them some good results!

Played 6/27/15 with my monthly golf group. Way cooler than LA, which was nice. Our group had range ball included for our round, but the range was closed because the machine was broken and they had to hand give the balls. Waited around 45 minutes for the range to open, but they never got it open and I don't know how long it took to get it open afterwards. It didn't seem like they were in a rush to get balls back to range area or the pro shop.

Course was interesting. Not long, not to narrow, but have to hit shots. Fairway was in good shape. Rough was also in good shape, not too long but not too short. Sand was ok. Not the real fluffy, but they had plenty of sand. Greens held shots, but sometimes it was a little on the firm side. Greens did roll true at medium speed. I hope it wasn't the our group in front of us, but always saw 3-5 ball marks. People need to fix their ball marks...Customer service was good, outside of the range situation. Saw the cart girl a handful of times on the course.

There are too many SD golf courses that I haven't played, so I don't know if I'll return anytime soon, but a nice track to test your skills.

Played for the first time on 8/8/14. Free golf from winning two bets from a friend. The price was always the reason that kept me away from this course, but when it's free, I wouldn't pass! The course was in good condition. It wasn't absolutely lush because of the drought, but it was still in good condition. From tee to green, no bare spots, just a little yellowish grass here and there. Playing from the tip made it very challenging with the length and the ocean breeze. The layout was fun. Not too narrow, but you had to hit shots to score. Pace of play was 4 hours and change walking. The starter let us start ahead of the group of beginners. No one was ahead of us, and we were not pushed from behind. I would like to come back if I could get a good deal (doesn't have to be free!).

Played for the first time. Bought a voucher through Livingsocial, $69 for 36 holes. But I only ended up playing 27 holes, because it was hot. Played Canyon Crest/Ridgeline (played Ridgeline twice). Creekside was closed for maintenance. Course was in good shape. Was paired with members of the course and they said they've seen better conditions. Greens were punched and sanded, so it was not the fast rolling greens (according to the members). Fairways and rough were lush and in good shape.

I like the layout. Both courses require some accuracy, and some length. Knowing the course does help with some tee shots that are semi-blind. Plenty of scoring opportunity.

I will definitely come back. I need to play Creekside, which everyone I talked to said is the toughest of the three.

Hosted a tournament on 2/24. I was expecting gusting winds, but got real lucky. Mild wind on a day when it was blowing 20+ mph in other parts of LA and OC. Customer service was good. The gentlemen working at the golf shop was working hard to get people in and out in a timely fashion. And he was doing that with a bad ankle on crutches! That itself is great work ethic. It was a busy morning at the course and the range balls ran out a couple times, but they worked to get people balls.

Course was in OK condition. Fairway was a little thin on many parts of the course. Tee boxes were the same, which shows this course gets a lot of traffic. Rough was about 2-3 inches and was lush for the most part. Greens were a little bumpy, but rolled at medium fast speed. Sand was in good condition. The course is interesting. It is target golf and knowing the course is key. I took the tips for this course and helped me. I would play a few holes differently and use my length to the advantage.

Would like to come back and get revenge on this course. Hope the condition improves to make it more enjoying.

Played on 1/3/13. First golf of the year, and couldn't complain of the weather. It was nice and in the 70's. The last time I played this course (over 2 years ago) was a disaster. The fairway was not cut, and played the whole course in 3-5 inches of grass. And the reviews didn't improve for a while, so I stayed away. But this year, the annual golf tournament that I play in is going to be played here, so I have to get a few rounds in before June.

Found a great deal with the online booking from the course ($30 with cart), so I couldn't complain too much. Got there early. The club house guys were nice. I asked to buy a course map and they gave me a course guide for free. Went to the range, which still looks like it's separately owned. Nothing special, mats, beat up balls. The starter let us early, with one of the Marshall playing on his off day. Fairway was in good condition. Little yellow grass here and there, but you need to expect that in the Winter. Sand was soft and filled, not the hard bunker that I saw last time. Greens were a bit soft, held shots, but rolled true at medium speed. Rough was standard 3 inches and lush. Tee were in decent shape, couple holes were a little on the thin side.

Couple of things that bugged me was, people not fixing ball marks on the green and not raking the sand. I had two occasions and my friend had one occasion landing into a foot print on the sand. People doing the common courtesy makes things much better, but people playing in front of us seemed to not care of people behind them.

Much better experience than last time. But as the Marshall we played said, there are occasions that the course will not cut the grass if there is consecutive days of rain. So beware of the weather.

Played on 12/16/12. Hosted a tournament and we had a good time. The Service was great from the time we set up the tournament. Very hospitable and responsive to all communication. They set up the carts for each group and gave everyone range balls.

Very interesting course. Target golf and you really need to know where to hit the ball. If you miss place it, you are going to have a difficult time. Course condition was ok. Fairway was lush at most places. Some places are a little thin. Rough was not to deep on most places, but the rain and the wet condition made some balls sink down to the dirt, which made it difficult to find the ball. The green rolled mostly true. Speed was hard to judge due to the rain. Did not get in any sand, but it looked like a little heavy due to the rain.

I will come back. I do want to play that course when it's not wet.

Played on 11/2 for super twilight. I had 90 minutes until sunset, and was hoping to get 9 holes, but ended up playing 12 holes walking(couldn't see much on the par 3 12 though). Haven't played here in almost 2 years. I like the layout. Played from the tips, which made it long, but not too much. Looked like they just over seeded, so fairway was shaggy and muddy on most holes. Greens were smooth, but on the slower side. Rough was short but lush. The tees were mostly muddy, and had divot on most. Some holes were hard to find a spot with a decent lie.

But for $13, I can't complain too much. I needed to get some playing in (first time on the course since late September), and I got enough golf that I am comfortable on my play. I will come back when they greens are back from aeration, and the fairway back into shape.
