Just moved to the area from LA and played my first round here. I chose this place because I actually live on the course. I am happy to say it is a GREAT design and nothing like a typical target golf desert track. Rolling fairways with mounding to help frame the holes. Grass bunkering is also present. There are plenty of water hazards and traps to avoid. I did find it interesting that there are several shortish par 4's but the 3's are pretty beastly with 3 of them being in the 200 yard range. I think this course has great potential!!!!

Conditions: Ok this is where I was dissapointed to some degree. The majority of the course was in above average to really good condition. The exception was the greens. They are bumpy at best. It looks like they were aerated a while ago, but were not done very well. I assumed this was a seasonal maintenance issue, but the guys I got paired with said this is the norm year round. Granted it was very cheap to play here in comparison to other courses, which probably explains the nonstop play we witness from our backyard. I would play here again out of convenience, but man this track has amazing potential!! I would pay twice the amount if it was in better condition.

On a side note: it would have been nice to be warned ahead of time that you are required to drive thru a storm drain FILLED TO THE GILLS!! The water was so deep the accelerator pedal was completely submerged!! No fun playing in soaking wet shoes....my bag, belongings and all my club grips were soaked too.

First time in Palm Desert area and loved it. Wish I could have played more than one round, but it is what it is. Took RobStretch's suggestion on this course and felt it was a good choice given I haven't played much over the last several months. You can definitely go low on this course. Fairways are pretty much wide open and greens are pretty simple. Course was in spectacular shape. Pace of play was great...I went off as a single at 0715 and was done before 1000! Proshop is not what I would call resort caliber, so I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking to relax in style after your round.

My first time playing this course and so glad I made the drive. This is the first Arthur Hills golf course I've found in SoCal. In fact, I hadn't heard too many good things about this track, but gave it a chance based on his reputation back in central Florida.

This is my fourth round this week at some of the nicer LA/OC/IE tracks. This course was definately in the best shape tee to green. The greens are pretty firm but rolling fast and so true. Customer service was excellent. My only complaint; extremely slow play on the back nine. I even called the clubhouse but nothing was done about the matter. I'm not a scratch golfer and I manage to keep pace of play. People need to either play easier courses or learn to pick up their ball if they are hitting for the 3rd or 4th time before getting within range of hitting the green.

And PLEASE repair your ballmarks; it is so difficult to maintain a course especially with the water conservation issues. Keep these great layouts looking the way they were designed.

Great customer service. Played all 3 nines in under 5 hours. Course is in great shape. Greens seemed slower than the 11 stimp they had posted.

I drove almost 2 hours out to cow country to play this course as suggested by a fellow greenskeeper member. I was happy to do so b/c of the upcoming Nationwide event being played there soon. Figured the course would be near immaculate...not so much. The problem were the fairways. The starter told me the tour asked them to switch from rye to bermuda. Unfortunately, the bermuda didn't take as they planned so there are bare spots everywhere. I say they've got there work cut out for them with only 5 weeks to go. He also mentioned the course was immaculate prior to redoing the fairways...it must be a real bummer for the staff.

The rest of the course looks great: rough is deep and thick, bunkers have snow white soft sand and the greens are a little slow but perfectly smooth. Customer service was fantastic and the clubhouse beautiful. I'm curious to see how low these guys can go on this course; one of the guys I played with had 5 birdies on the card.

This was my first time at Oak Quarry. I must say it is a unique setting. I thought the course was great.

However, the greens conditions were a different story. Apparently, they are being treated for a fungus. They are patchy, bumpy and pretty slow. Otherwise the course looks good.

Hadn't played here in a long time b/c I've never been impressed with the green conditions, but needed a course to entertain out of town guests on a budget. First off, the staff was great today. The greens were in the best shape I've ever seen...not saying they are great but good enough. However, the fairways are TOASTED and THIN in several areas...maybe even 75% of them. I was in two traps today and neither had sand...just hardpan and rocks. I'm not sure if this is by design or not, but nonetheless poor. All in all, we had fun today.

For you first timers: The greens vary in size significantly so pay attention to pin placement and green depth. Greens have large tightly mown areas surrounding them and are VERY undulated. It's not uncommon to see a good shot roll 30ft off the green. The fairways are wide so let it rip.

This is a great course but the greens are suffering from either heavy play or undeserving players. REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS PLEASE!

Great customer service on this trip. thank you RR.

Another well planned GK outing. Thank you to Johnny and Eric. I think we all had a great time.

This layout is challenging but not unfair. The course is lined by several tall pines and oaks...a nice change from the mountain courses of the valley. Keeping driver in the bag for almost all of the front and most of the back is a good idea as there are many interesting short tight dogleg par 4's. Three long (in comparison to the 4's) par 5's...pretty basic design. Four par 3's; with two of them over water and one at 200+ yards...definately memorable and aesthetically pleasing. The course was in GREAT shape tee to green. The greens are tiered and undulated making putting very challenging...especially if you got a putting lesson 30mins before teeing off...thanks Jim;)

Greens appear patchy but are rolling true. Rest of the course in good shape. Challenging track with great views.

Course undergoing aerification of fairways yesterday. Greens are very bumpy compared to about 2 weeks ago.

Ok course to work on your par 3 game. Busy muni with horrible fairways and decent greens. But for $20 what do you expect!!
