Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Decided to give Hidden Valley a go. I played it once over a decade ago, so it might as well have been my first time. Got paired with a twosome of seniors, but they asked me to play ahead. They said they preferred to play very slowly so it worked out well. The only drawback is I had no clue where to hit my ball. If you’re unfamiliar with Hidden Valley I’d STRONGLY suggest you research the layout beforehand. Lost 4 balls not because I hit poor shots, but because I didn’t know where the trouble was on the holes with blind tee shots.
Something you should know about me, I appreciate flat tee boxes and true greens. Everything else is a distant third.
The greens were actually ok. They were slow, but it being consistently slow made it manageable. The sand traps are basically unplayable. Wasn’t in any, but the bunkers by the greens had HUGE cracks in them with black plastic pipes running through.
The worst part about the course are the tee boxes. They were TRASH.

Played 7.8.21.
Pro: pretty much everything. Oak Quarry is currently in the best condition I've ever seen. There's a ton of money being invested and it shows. The staff was great too.
Con: sand is still average at best. A local guy said it's because the wind gets so crazy it blows all the good sand away.
I think the new layout makes so much more sense. The 18th par 5 is BRUTAL. Such a tough finishing hole.

Played 7.1: Nice staff, budget friendly rates, and the course design is pretty cool. Greens are trying to heal, there are still visible punch marks on most greens. Tee boxes are decent but some are rediculously bad. Fairways are mostly thin.
Course is having issues with carts. They had a random single share mine. Nice guy, only issue was we were behind one of the slowest 3somes ever, and the random single didn't understand what playing through was.
This course seriously needs marshals that will actually do something about slow play. Too bad since the layout has potential.

Mike in the proshop was friendly. Greens were okay. I’m not planning on returning. Not a fan of the layout, course condition, or pace of play. Be prepared for mud. Everywhere.
I booked a 11am tee time Sunday 6/3. I was anticipating heavy traffic, but it was smooth sailing so I ended up getting there at 7:30. The customer service was excellent! They worked me out as soon as I was ready.
Arrowood doesn't disappoint. Course is in good shape. Tee boxes can use some work, uneven lies on a few holes. I’ll be heading to Arrowood again soon

Played 4/26 early afternoon.
Greens were just okay, bumpy and slow. A few greens had what looked like tire tracks running through them. It was odd.
Fairways were pretty crappy. They should have been marked as ground under repair on multiple holes.
Tee boxes were decent. Most were fairly level.
Round took over 5 hours

Played today 4/24 @3pm *WARNING* BEES ARE SWARMING ON 10 & 11
The greens have healed nicely. They’re a bit slow, but rolled true. Tee boxes are in really good condition. A few fairways are soggy/muddy. Sand is getting better, but still hard pan on more than a few holes.
Course was relatively empty. Played multiple balls the entire round. Had a good time, and I didn’t get stung!

Played 4/21. First time playing Arrowood, here’s a quick breakdown.
There was a junior tournament today. Everyone got pushed back 30 minutes. It didn’t bother me, but the other players were grumbling. The greens are in TERRIFIC CONDITION. Ball rolled true on every hole. Tee boxes are flat, and lush. Fairways are really good too, and very tight on a few holes. I found a few greenside bunkers, and they were full of nice fluffy sand.
I typically don’t travel to the San Diego area to play golf, but after today’s experience at Arrowood I’ll definitely put it into the rotation.

Walked on at 2pm. The course is in good shape. Greens are healing well. Finished in under 4 hours. The starter got me out right in front of a high school match. I really appreciated that.
Played twilight today with a buddy from work. Starter paired us with a single walker. Pace of play was terrible. Over 5.5 hours. It was so slow that the single paired with us left after 9 due to frustration with pace of play. Greens were slightly better per Weber’s review, but still bumpy and slow compared to how they used to be. Winds were howling!
CMCC is letting the rough grow out. We had difficulties locating balls on a few holes. You’re suppose to hit the fairway so the rough did it’s job.
I found a few green side bunkers, and they were very playable. A couple holes had mud on the fairway.
Had a good time. I’ll play again soon.

Played 4/10 in the afternoon as a walk on single. Starter got me out right away, and I joined a twosome. Pace of play was decent. Finished 18 in under 4 hours! Those of you that play this course know how remarkable that is. Didn’t have to wait much until hole 15. Turned out to be two threesomes that decided to make it a 6some?! At least they let us play through.
Tee boxes were pretty good. Relatively flat and green. Fairways were playable. Muddy areas on a few holes so I decided to lift, clean, and place on those spots.
I haven’t played either Lagos or Linda in years. I remember the best thing about CMCC was the greens. Regretfully, the greens are very bumpy, slow, and hairy. Perhaps it’s because they’re getting ready to punch them.

Played 4/7 with my brother. We got there 10 minutes after our tee time, but the employees got us out right away. That was great because the course was packed. Pace of play was atrocious. Round took over 6 hours. I understand that sometimes peak weekend golf is slow, but 6.5 hours is RIDICULOUS.
Course was good, except the greens were still healing from getting punched. Very bumpy and slow and covered with sand on most holes.
I thought the layout was pretty good. The course runs through the canyons and it was windy! Made the course play tougher than I expected.
I’ll be back, but only if I can play ahead of the crowd.
