Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Very dissapointed in the condition of the course. I just played here a couple of months ago, and was suprised how quickly the place went downhill. For a County course, you don't expect perfection, but the condition of the greens, sand traps and some of the tee boxes were just horrible. ALL the greens had fungus problems, some of them severe. On some of our putts, the balls "4X4"'d over the fungus for a bumpy ride to the hole. The traps had more mud than sand. The only saving grace is the fairways and the ease of getting on. You can always walk on here pretty quickly on a weekend. Also, management for some reason drained the lake. I don't think I'll be back soon since there are much better courses in the area for the same $$$.
I have to agree with the person below, this course is not an 8.5; its probably a little below that with exception of the greens which are a 9.0. Given the high rating, I was expecting much more out of the course. Not saying anything bad about the course, just that I was expecting more. Maybe it was all the construction that detracted from the course. When the clubhouse is built and construction around the course is complete, it might be more visually appealing. By the way, plans for a driving range are on hold since the city won't give the course the building permits to build it at the planned location, so the warm up nets will be there for a while. On a positive note, I shot my lowest score ever and had a great time. I'll be back, but maybe next year when all the construction is completed.
We expected a great golf course and our expectations were exceeded. The course was in excellent condition. The greens were the best I've ever putted on. All putts rolled straight and smooth. The traps had coarser sand than most courses (sort of like small pebbles) which reduced the spin out of bunker shots. Unfortunately I was in a few of them. Other than that, the traps were in great condition. Even the native desert areas were neatly raked; this sort of detail we weren't expecting.
The layout was very challenging. Take plenty of balls if you don't hit your tee shots straight. Water comes into play on many of the holes. We played from the whites since we were warned this was a tought course, and even then we had a tough time. However the smoothness of the greens made it easier to putt from long distances. I had a personal record number of one putts. Customer service was excellent. We were given ice cold water bottles at the start and end of our rounds. The marshall even brought us cold towels in the middle of the round.
Overall had a great time and highly recommend it. This has to be one of the top two courses I've ever played in both condition and layout.

Considering the price of this course and the 6.6 rating, I was expecting an overpriced course in modest condition. I was more than pleased with the course, both the layout and condition. The course conditions were excellent and the greens were in good shape, minus a few unrepaired ball marks. The tee boxes, fairways and rough were all in good condition; so was the only bunker I landed in. The front nine layout was great. No hole was alike. As far as customer service, we saw the cart girl about four times. This was probably more than my last three rounds combined. I played for their summer rate of $69, which is a great deal for this course. Their regular rates of $125 are a bit steep, but if you can get on at twilight or before their summer rates end, I highly recommend it. Pace of play was 4.5 hours. This course deserves a much higher rating than 6.6.
Course was in great condition. Greens were fast, but I was dissapointed at the amount of unrepaired ball marks. All of the ball marks were fresh. I guess for the price they charge, the morning regulars don't feel like they have to repair their ball marks. Pace of play was mixed. Front nine was 1.5 hours, and back nine took 2.5 hours. Can't complain about a 4 hour round. The high green fees keeps the course from getting too crowded. There's definitely value there.
I don't think the course is worth $125, but it is worth their twilight rate of $75. It's a short, but very interesting and challenging course.

I played this course in April, and was very dissapointed in the condition of the greens. What a turnaround. The greens were actually in good shape, minus some sporadic poa growth. Putts rolled smooth and true. I was suprised how quickly the greens improved since my last visit. I think the 9th hole was the only one that still had excessive ball marks. The rest of the greens were in descent shape. I don't have to talk about the rest of the course since it's in excellent condition. Also, they put new white sand in the traps, which is also an improvement. You combine the improved course conditions with an already interesting layout, and you get a great golfing experience. If you stopped going to Trilogy because of the greens, it's worth visiting again.
This was probably the fastest round I've played. We finished in around 3:50. The course is wide open at most holes. If you're tee shot goes OB here, you need to go back to the driving range. They could probably build three holes just on the 18th hole fairway alone. Layout was decent, although the back nine had more interesting holes. Course conditions were good. For the summer rate of $30, this is a super deal even at 100+ degrees. My only complaint is the lack of water around the course. Although there seemed to be a water cooler at almost every hole, there was no water in any of them. Very surprising considering it's Palm Springs. Good thing we brought our own water. Definitely will play here again on my next trip to PS.
Great golf course. Great layout. Lots of mounds and traps to penalize you for missed shots. Unfortunately for me, I a flat lie was a rarity on most holes. This course beat up on me pretty good, but I could see how it could get a tab bit easier the second time around once you know where the trouble is. Greens are elevated on most holes, so if you miss your approach shot, you'll have an upward pitch shot to the whole. Combine that with some medium/fast greens and its potential for trouble. A poor single that joined our group had four shots going back and forth on one hole. The course conditions were in great condition. Speed of play was around 4.5 hours, even with a bad round. Worth the summer green fee rate. Would probably play here again, hopefully with a better score.
Greens really improved from the last time I played here. They're still a little slow, but at least putts roll straight. A few months ago they had unrepaired ball marks all over the place. Fairways and rough continue to be in excellent condition. Tee boxes were in good shape, but were unlevel in some areas. I remembered my 6 hour round last time, so this time we teed off really early. This round took 4.5 hours, and was much more enjoyable. If you can't hit a straight tee shot, you're going to have a tough round. I didn't see any five somes as others have mentioned. I just think the course plays slow due to its layout. Would continue to recommend this course, however make sure you get an early tee time to finish in reasonable time.
My experience at San Dimas Canyon is a tale of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
First the good: The course is in great condition. Fairways and tee boxes are lush, and the greens are firm and fast. Players actually fix there ball marks. The course layout is also nice. Narrow fairways and tough greens are this courses' defenses. Also, three of the five par 3s were about 200 yards from the blues.
The Bad: GPS system wasn't working on our cart and had to get the cart replaced. Staff showed up within five minutes to change the cart. However, the replacement cart ran out of juice on the back nine, and customer service took 20 minutes to show up with a replacement cart. So we walked a hole and a half without a cart. Two customer service issues, one handled quickly, the other not so quickly. Based on the staff's quick response the first time, I'll give them a mulligan for the second one.
The Ugly: My score that day. Scored about 10 strokes above my handicap. A player with local knowledge will definitely have a huge advantage on this course. Especially of the greens. Most of the greens were multi-tiered, and because of the fast speed of the greens, shots that landed in the wrong tier had a good chance of becoming three putts. The pace of play was also pretty slow as mentioned by others. It was 5.5 hours, though the back nine was much faster.
This golf course requires a repeat visit from me in order to redeem myself. The conditions and challenge of the course were great. Staff was friendly, and the GPS system was great. They have the Parkview GPS system, which is the Mercedes of GPS systems. Price was also fair for the course and conditions. Defintiely would recommend this course.

This round had to be one of the most painful in recent memory. The course is very unforgiving to wayward tee shots. The fairways are generally narrow and are surrounded by large mature trees. You have to play the trees like they are a water hazard, since once you get in the trees, you're losing a stroke to get out of them.
That being said, the course was in excellent condition. I was suprised how great the course conditions were, since this is a city cousre. The fairways, rough, traps and greens were all in great condition. I've played some $90 courses that aren't in the condition of El Dorado. Pace of play was about 5 hours.
Next time I'll keep the driver in the bag, and keep my tee shots on the fairway.

Hadn't play Big Rec in a few years. Course is in good condition. Greens were in good shape, and recovered nicely from aeration. Lots of grain on the greens. Downhill puts were lightning fast, and uphill puts really slow. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough were all in decent condition. Sand traps were packed, but that may have been becuase they were wet. My only complaint, if I had to give one, was the playing time. The front nine took a painful 3 hours to complete. We were waiting on every hole. Luckily, the back nine was faster, so we ended up finishing in 5.5 hours. Overall, had a great time, and enjoyed the course.
