Finally got to dust off the new set of irons I got for X-Mas, and what a great place to do it. This course challenges you in every aspect, and when the rough is up like today, you had better be on. The course is in incredible shape with the greens rolling fast and true, and the fairways and bunkers tip top for this time of the year. Once again 11-14 kicked my a**, but I cant wait to go back.

Having played here since its opening several years ago, I have to agree with some of the previous posts about current conditions. As I understand new management has come in in the last year or so, and so far its looking like they don't intend to maintain the level it once was. Yes many, almost all of the greens are getting over run with some other type of grass that leaves it with numerous patches of lighter green grass. Although I didn't notice it effecting my putts too much, it looks horrible. Just the overall appearance of this once fine course leaves you feeling like its not being well maintained. I really hope this is a temporary thing because I love the layout.

First time playing here in over six months. Biggest difference in this time has to be the greens. They have softened them up big time from last year, and not sure if this is going to continue. In the past the firmness of the greens played a big role in how you hit your approach shots on this links course. The conditions are very good for a cold winter here on the central coast, and I hope GK keeps this course in its tourney rotation.

Stopped by on our way home from the 49er game on Friday morning. Never heard of this course before, partner had played it a couple of times in a mens tourney and raved about it. Got our discounted tee time on ez-links for $28 with cart which is a great deal for this course. Very impressed with the overall conditions of this course. Plays very long from the tips but is still a good challenge from the interm tees. Greens are sloped mostly and if your not below the hole on most of them, its trouble. Very fast but true greens, fairways were very nice, tee box's decent. Only slight complaint was the sand was thin in most traps I was in but playable. Back nine gave me fits, especially 12-17 but was fun. Great price for this course and a good challenge of your putting skills.

I come here each summer for the good rates and nice resort. This year was the worst condition I have ever seen the Palms course. The greens are almost unplayable with some having patches of sod, yes I said sod. For a course in the desert I can understand the challenges of keeping the greens decent through the heat, but come on you would think they would have this down by now. Very dissapointed in the overall conditions here. Next year I will spend a few more $$$ and stay at La Quinta rather than put up with crappy greens.

On a good note, we complained to the front desk manager who in turn took off $100 off the tab for our three day stay.

Right now they are runniing a special for 40% off greens fees which is a heck of a deal. Played on 3-23-09 and found the conditions not as good as the usual for this course. Dont get me wrong, the course conditions here are probably better right now than 80% of the courses in the state but just not the way im used to seeing it. The greens were good but still healing and the fairways were decent but not lush as they always are. My only complaint about this course since its inception is the sand in the bunkers. Its soo soft and difficult, its like they went down to the dunes and loaded all the beach sand in a dump trunk and used it on the course. its playable but difficult. Had some good holes and several tough ones. drove the green on seven and three putted for a par, that kinda day. My neighbors father in law in town from Texas thought this was the best course he had ever played, I guess we get spoiled here on the central coast with so many great choices.

Played the new Challenge Course which is a 12 hole par three. This course just opened two weeks ago and is the second out of three new courses to open. I had a great time playing this "Executive course" due to a great variety and incredibely challenging greens. the holes range from a 75 yarder that has a green that is triple tiered to a down hill 232 yarder with a lake on the right. All of the holes are reminicent of the Old Course here with the greens and the natural grass in play. All holes are well bunkered as well. For $16 this was money well spent and I will for sure be back.

Had not played here in several years, remember conditions not so good at the time. Went out as a single at 9 am no problems. Club house, or should I say trailer with no power due to construction is funny but no problem. This course is what it says, a links style course with no sand, hard fairways, and dirt with weeds as rough. I did find the fairways to be in very good shape. I hope they can keep it up with the intense heat they get in the summer. The greens were very slow but true. For the price, I found this to be very enjoyable layout, nothing spectacular but fun. Keep up the good work on the course fellas, I will definitely be back.

Second time this year playing Hunter and it definitely wont be the last. Customer service, very good no problems. Green fees include range balls and use of great practice facility that also includes a cool chipping layout with greens. Weather was incredible got out on time with nobody in front of us at 8:30. My friend is from Texas and was so impressed with the conditions and layout that he said it was the best course he has played in his 30 some years of golf. He was right, very lush fairways, greens very tough to read but firm and fast. Got done in four hours. This course difinitely deserves GK Best course for value award. It will get very hot in the summer so get out now while the weather is perfect. The course did kick my butt today but i will be back for revenge.

Took the afternoon off to get in a late round so i could shake off the rust. Got off as a single right away and only ran into one foursome arounf seven. Breezed through the round in a bout 3 hours walking. I do love this course due to the variety of holes and the scenery. Very peaceful and well maintained for this time of the year. Greens were good, not too fast but always tough to read. Wind was blowing pretty good all day with at least a two club difference. Hd a great front nine and ran out of gas around 14. Not that easy of a walk due to the elevation but it wont kill you. I really enjoy playing here and cant wait for the weather to warm up. great course overall.

OK first let me say that it was the coldest round of golf I have ever played, 40 degrees is not for me. About the course, Front nine is looking pretty good for the cold winter, bunkers decent, tee boxes OK, and greens not bad. Back nine still has temp greens that are not very playable. $21 for round with cart and a dog is not bad, I do like the layout.

Cheese, thats some man crush you have on Oak Quarry, gotta play that some day when I head south.

Made a 0652 tee time saturday morning after the weatherman said partly cloudy and 70. Get up to this area once in a while to visit the mother in law, so decided to play here. Knew it was gonna be a cold wet day while making the drive to the course in a down pour. Rain let up for a couple of holes and then it just poured for about ten holes. Course is very nice with very lush fairways. Green are sloped and undulating, short placement is a must so probably would be better with course knowledge or yardage book. Greens rolled good even with it being pretty wet, some unrepaired ball marks that I fixed but overall good. Not sure if it was just playing in the rain and not taking the time to enjoy but the front nine was kinda bland and I only got in three holes on the back after the club slipped out of my hand on a tee shot and I had enough of being cold and wet. Big elevation change on the back, looked good from what I saw, wish the weather man would have gotten it right. Good ciustomer service, they seemed to have their act together getting people out and making sure the pace stays good. I would come back, when it warms up. Enjoyed the 14 holes I did play.
