Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Got very lucky on my 1st outing here. Played last Friday on a beautiful morning with negligible wind conditions. This ocean course is very impressive from the time you drive down the driveway until you tell your friends about it a week later. WOW Trump's reputation is well intact at this little golf club. Yes, it is a bit pricey and like many things, you get what you pay for (I think of it as worth much more than two rounds at a mediocre golf). The TRUMP service was impeccable so far, with free valet, free locker use, free range balls, free water bottles, cart and GPS included (not including tips & gratuities). Yes, I brought extra balls as I am working my way down to single digit handicap (... by next year). Greens were true and immaculate (most fixed their ball marks) ... 9 on Stump meter. Great place to impress a date or bring your entourage if you are a movie star whose first name is Sean ;)
Wow, played 2 rounds again this weekend! What an enjoyable course! Greens were immaculate, some ball marks but we fixed ours plus a few more each hole. Sand bunkers were medium fluff not hard. Fairways were in semi-good shape with some wet spots and crabgrass... lots of divots but not unlike other courses. Need to clean up teeboxes as they are full of broken tees (Maybe buy those metal tee trash containers for each box???) There were fivesomes but pace was excellent when we teed off at 9am each day. That's what I like about this course in the mornings. Challenging to convert greens in regulation but definitely do-able if your drives are sweet. Definitely will take the drive to come back here real soon.
Played 3/11/07 at 12:50pm but daylight savings was changed a few hours earlier so the sun was actually at about noon. It was 85 degrees but the overriding factor was THE WIND gusting at about 15-20 mph. The course is simply beautiful and the pace was simply perfect. At the blue tees, course slope is 141 and that sure did beat us up even without the wind, which eventually ended when we were standing at the 18th tee box. Be sure to bring plenty of shag balls, this course requires that you leave your $4 Pro-V1x's in the car. :)
PLayed Saturday, 3/3/07, in the morning, was windy and frost delayed until 7:45a.m. The course is simply beautiful off of Hunt Hwy in Queen Creek in the Johnson Ranch Centex home community. The front nine was somewhat routine however the pay off was the back nine with the immaculate views. A good drive is a must but don't forget to bring that "DESERT ROCK CLUB" if you can't get it in the fairway (I think I severely scratched my 5-iron). This is my buddy's home course (he lives across the street) so I will definitely return when I visit him again real soon.
We played here in October on Friday the 13th when the weather had 70% chance of rain. Of course, this meant that the views were spectacular from the highest elevated golf course in OC. We saw views of the ocean, from Long Beach to Catalina Island, including Angel Stadium, Honda Center, and even Disneyland. I myself haven't played here in a while but considered it one of my favorite courses ever since they opened in '01. I played here in '02 when the green fees were $25-$30 so management knows they have a really great course charging $100 (which is worth it in my humble opinion) since you get cart, range balls, and GPS. I do wish people would FIX THEIR FAIRWAY DIVOTS since the fairway here is lush and soft, and easy to replace (just do what Steve Williams does for Tiger Woods!!!) I'm considering jumping on their deal of the Player's Card (which will pay for itself!)
Booked tee time for Friday at 1:45pm but got on the waiting list at 12:15 and we were called on at 1:00pm. Haven't played this course in 4 years and last time did not finish. I was worried that we would not finish but finished the round in 5 hours flat.
This course is a true TREASURE of southern california and I feel awkward posting this review because thsi course is worth the price for the VIEW in itself.
Sure, they were AERATING the greens but we WILL RETURN when the greens are better. Our round PLUS THE SUNSET at 6:39pm was simply put AMAZING!!

Played two rounds last weekend. Great and immaculate course. What a challenging and well designed course. I loved the undulating fairways in the back nine. Well worth the green fee!
Played the other day and they were aerating the front 9 holes ... Neither pro shop nor starter warned us about this. The greenskeepers were rude several times when we were putting on the green, two of them drove up on their maintenance cart and proceeded to pull out the hose ... They were oblivious to one of us preparing to putt. Several holes later, they decided to turn on the fairway sprinklers while our balls were in the middle. My ball was actually 6 inches from the turned on sprinklers (did not hinder my shot) when I was hitting my approach. I had to move my cart pronto though still wet from the rotating sprinklers. Terrible.
The course was immaculate on 5/18/05. However, they are building homes adjacent to the course and some fairways which was somewhat distracting. Wild rabbits were also running everywhere on the tee boxes and cart paths that morning ... they need to have some bobcats out there to control the rabbit population. Wednesday was cleanup day or something since some holes and maintenance workers mowing and trimming, somewhat distracting. Other than these problems, BEAUTIFUL COURSE.
