Tough day if you were above the hole, ball just seems to keep going no matter how soft you tap it. Rest of the course was great, unfortunately my game wasn't. Still I fought on and had a good time. Staff always nice and helpful.
played early today at the wilson course and have to say it was in pretty good shape. course gets a lot of play, so i go out early between 6-7am. finished at 11 and there were a whole lot of people waiting to start their round. tee to green was in good condition, was in two bunkers and they both had soft sand. enjoyed quite a bit.
played monday the 23rd and man was it windy. it made the course almost unplayable, but played on. the course was in good condition with fairways and tee boxes in great shape. the greens were pretty quick, but had quite a bit of ball marks. overall, a tough day.
played today for first time and really enjoyed the course. nothing tricky just straight ahead holes. course is long from blues, but fair because of the wide fairways. greens still not ready from being punched, give it another week or so. tee boxes were good and fairways were okay with some bare areas. overall, i enjoyed it and will go back and play. also has grass driving range and lots of areas for short game practice.
played today because most courses are being aerated, and have to say that the course was not that appealing. #11 has a temp. green and #13 is not being played. it's replaced with a extra hole after #18. greens and tee boxes weren't bad, but the fairways are for the most part thin. knollwood and simi hills much better options for the valley region and for the price.
played early this morning and the winds were blowing hard, so hard it made it unplayable and only got in nine holes. the conditions were okay other wise. greens were good and bunkers were soft, but the wind was just to much today.
haven't played here in a while because of the poor upkeep of this course, but played on 11/29 and have to say that it was in decent shape. it was not the greatest, but compared to the last time i played it was a lot better. hope it continues to improve.
played monday the 1st and the course was in good condition. there are parts where they're working on the new irrigation system. #2 is about 100yds shorter, but nothing to bad. this course is always well kept and is one of my favorite public courses. only problem for me is that the earlier you get out the better. i usually try to get out before 8am, but overslept and started at about 10:30. didn't finish till 3:30, a 5hr round. 2 groups of 5 in front of our group and guys hitting from the back when they need to play the whites. unfortunately, some guys think they can play from the tips and hold up everyone else behind them.
played yest. 8/16 and the course was a decent condition. most bunkers are still in poor condition, on some holes they were really working on them. greens rolled well and fairways were okay. difficult day with the wind rolling through, but overall another great experience. staff is alway's very friendly and accomadating.
played montebello on 8/1 and found the conditions to be below avg. the tee boxes were pretty level and the greens had the usual unrepaired ball marks, but it was the fairways that really disappointed. had many good drives that ended up in the fairway, but the problem was there was no grass on them. it basically was like hitting off concrete. it's unfortunate because i like the layout, but for the price your not getting what you pay for.
played north course on labor day and was not impressed with how the course was maintained. i can't believe that the pro's play here. must fix it up real nice before they arrive. got to play for $125 instead of $165, but still not worth it with carts having no GPS. a friend played aviara and it sounded like it was a much better experience than la costa.
"played the valley course and have to agree with previous player that the sand was the only negative. besides that the course was in excellent condition."
