The Saticoy Club is an incredibly designed Championship course that offers a wide array of golf holes that are always interesting and challenging. The course is built onto a scenic mountainside that runs proximate to several Avocado and Citrus orchards, and features views of localized mountains, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean. This classic beauty features large mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, several elevation changes, along with occasional water hazards.

The Saticoy Club places premium on accuracy off the tee into mid-sized fairways, and into small to mid-sized greens. The course defends itself with well positioned bunkers, medium length rough, fast sloped greens, and funneling wind conditions. There were a few doglegs, but no blind shots. The course was always a fair challenge but required the execution of quality shots at all times, as being offline here introduced difficulty to achieve recovery, as any real championship course should.

The course played its yardage, and fairways offered limited roll out on drives and approaches. The course is very well maintained and in overall excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.9 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Generally level, and always green, no damage. Conditions above average. Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Conditions excellent. Greens: Green, fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and very tricky to read at times. These Greens are a true test. Speed about an 11. Conditions excellent. Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Conditions excellent. Rough: Maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Conditions excellent. Waste Areas: Noted on a handful of holes, and such were maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Conditions excellent. Driving Range: The range was scenic, hitting off an artificial turf surface. The range places you on a mountain top hitting into a valley with various greens and markers that are situated in an area that is fully grassed, with markers from 100 - 225 yards. Range balls were quality Callaway golf balls. Practice Area: I noted a very nice chipping area on a lower tier away from the driving range. Conditions excellent. Did not use. Practice Putting Greens: Two mid-size practice putting greens were noted, both in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting greens were consistent with course. POP: 4.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly. Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all were top tier.

Conclusion: I don’t have enough positive things to say about this incredible course, it is a True Golf Experience. There are very few courses I can think of as far as layout, conditions, and environment that would be better. I strongly endorse The Saticoy Club and will never miss the opportunity to play here when it is offered.

Thank you Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this GK / GM Outing!

Played ANGC this week with a mid-morning tee time. The course was in good condition and with a combination of green to light green throughout the playing surface. No dry out or dirt spots observed, considering the heat, conditions are rated a 4.0 out of 5 overall. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage
Fairways: Green and tight, no damage
Greens: Green, firm, and fast, no damage. 11ish in speed.
Sand: Well maintained and soft
Rough and Waste Areas: Well maintained and defined
Driving Range: Off grass and in good condition
POP: 4 hours

As previously reviewed, this course is a desert layout that requires reasonable control off the tee and into greens. Greens roll fast but hold good shots. ANGC is an excellent layout that can be enjoyed by any established golfer. I recommend this course, especially if a discounted rate is found.

The restaurant is still not open, but the snack shack does offer limited food, snacks, and drinks.

ANGC is a solid players layout and worth the experience. Driving range is off grass and a great place to practice. Recommended if you got the game and don't mind paying $100+ for a round of golf.

Enjoyed an excellent GK / GM Outing at VCC with excellent playing partners Gary, Kevin. And Todd. Great Gents and excellent players!

I can best describe VCC as a fun Players Course. This course really kept you in check, but was never unreasonable. The layout was excellent! Really enjoyed this place! Reminded me of Riviera CC at times. I can see why the PGA Tour played here once upon a time.

VCC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic water hazards, with medium sized and reasonably fast greens.

The course is mostly flat, at times undulating, and sometimes with mild elevation changes from fairway to green, and offers some attractive views of localized mountains.

The course plays like a Championship Style layout. You will need to work the ball in both directions at times. Wind speeds were calm, peaking at 5 -15 mph when gusting. The course seemed to play it's yardage for the most part. The course was very well manicured and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 4.5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Above average condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Excellent condition.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium softness. No damage observed. Speed about a 10.5. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well maintained, heavy, and firm. Above average condition.

Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 5 inches. Above average condition.

Waste Areas: Waste areas on various holes did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Above average.

Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting from artificial turf. You see markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 300ish. Range balls were your typical rangers, but in very good condition.

Chipping Area: Compact in size and included a practice bunker. Condition and features were excellent.

Practice Putting Green: Ample in size and very well maintained. Practice greens seemed consistent with the speed of the course greens. Excellent condition.

POP: 5 hours

The VCC facility included a snack bar / restaurant, and a very nicely stocked pro shop. Service received was excellent. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on golf this is a really good one. Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be one I would consider joining.

I endorse playing this track if given the opportunity. Looking forward to my next visit here.

Thank you Johnny and GK for this outing.

Enjoyed yet another excellent GK Outing on T - Tuesday at the Classic Club. Played the Front 9 twice with Johnny, Gary, and Matt to complete the 2-Day – 72 Hole Extravaganza of Golf in the Desert! WOW, it really happened!

CC is another Players Course in the Desert. I believe it is one of the best layouts in the Desert and would also place it in my Top 3 of the Desert.

CC is a Championship Style course where your game simply needs to show up. It is by no means a target golf course, but accuracy is needed from tee to green if you want to have a good scoring round. This course shows its beauty and teeth in its elevation changes and hole design. You will find open fairways to hit at, but lots of bunkers, undulations, and occasional water. Greens are generally mid to large in size and rolled fast and pure. At times the wind howled at us, but it was in limited windows. The course played its yardage, and I note CC as another Ball Striker’s Course without being a target layout.

The course was in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Excellent condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Excellent condition.

Greens: Green, fast in speed with nice hold, while still holding quality shots. Speed at about an 11. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well-maintained heavy but not hard. Excellent condition.

Rough: Well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Excellent condition.

Waste Areas: Observed on various holes and did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to the overgrown nature. Excellent condition.

Driving Range: The range was very nice. Hitting off a grass surface. Situated on a flat section of the facility and hitting into a grassland with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 350ish. Range balls were top of the line Titleist Practice balls. Very nice!

Practice Putting Green: ample and very well maintained. Surface speed was consistent with the course greens.

Chipping Green: ample and very well maintained. Several pins noted to work on the short-game, along with sand bunkering.

POP: 4 hours – very little wait encountered.

Food: awesome restaurant at the turn, the food was incredible. Also had an ABC Burger here, it was a perfect!

Service: we received incredible service from Bag Drop, in the Pro Shop, and in the Restaurant. Top class!

I loved CC and wish I could have played the Back 9. This is a must play when you are in the Desert. As previously mentioned, this is one of my Top 3 of the Desert. Just a top-notch course and facility. A 5-Star golf experience all the way. Strongly endorsed!

Thank you Johnny and GK for this outing!

Enjoyed an excellent GK Outing on T - Tuesday at Desert Willow Firecliff with Johnny, Gary and Matt.

I can best describe Firecliff as a fun Players Course. I note Firecliff as Desert Style – Championship Course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features a clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and greens, and rough areas; there is well placed bunkering on all fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic trees and water hazards, all being punitive to wayward golf shots, but still a treat for the eyes.

The course is generally flat but does offer mild elevation changes from tee to fairway and green on many holes, along with great views of localized mountains. The course plays like a true Championship Style layout. If you miss your mark, you will be punished. The course played its yardage for the most part, and I emphasize this course is a Ball Striker’s Delight, without being a target layout.

The course was very well manicured and in excellent condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.6 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Excellent condition.

Fairways: Green at times tight. Excellent condition.

Greens: Green, very fast in speed and firm, while still holding quality shots. Speed at about a 12 – 12.5. These greens were not for the faint of heart or weak-minded putter! No damage observed. Excellent condition.

Sand: Well-maintained but hard, heavy, and course at times. Condition above-average.

Rough: Well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Grabby at times. Excellent condition.

Waste Areas: Observed on various holes and did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to the overgrown nature. Excellent condition.

Driving Range: The range was nice and spacious. Hitting off a grass surface. Situated on a flat section of the facility and hitting into a grassland with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 350ish. Range balls were your typical rangers and in good condition

Practice Putting Green: Ample and very well maintained. Surface speed was consistent with the course greens.

Chipping Green: Also ample and very well maintained. Several pins noted to work on the short-game, along with sand bunkering.

POP: 4.5 hours – very little wait encountered.

Service: excellent service received.

This track truly is a Desert masterpiece and great for the price! Its layout is spectacular, and the use of the topography and land could not be better. If looking to play while in the Desert, this one has to be in the top 3, no doubt! Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be on the monthly rotation. I fully endorse playing this great track when given the opportunity. Very much looking forward to my next visit here. 5 Stars! Strongly endorsed!

Thank you Johnny and GK for this outing!

Also had the additional treat of playing at PVCC - Challenge with Johnny and Gary. Another Magical Monday Blessing!

PVCC – Challenge was an incredible short course. Like no short course I have ever played! This golf course was what Disneyland used to be to children, but to the golfer. Playing this course may have been one of the funnest and best golf playing experiences I have ever had.

This magnificent short course, just like the Championship is a hybrid Parkland and Resort style course that features mature palm trees, strategic bunkering throughout, fairway mounding and moguls, along with water hazards that are traditional of Ted Robinson Design golf courses. However, this is a masterful short course that includes nine par 4s and nine par 3s, which were all unique and offered variating degrees of difficulty. Par was 63 and total yardage from the tips was 4,232. Do note, just because this was a shorter course than the Championship, it did not mean it was easier. In fact it was more challenging, and often times more scenic. This course has lots of short par 4s that are risk vs reward, and long par 3s, which will call for strategy, ball placement, and good club selection. This was certainly a Gamer Course!

The course is primarily flat, and is also surrounded by various dwellings, is walkable, and very scenic. The course was very well maintained and in almost perfect condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.9 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Condition excellent.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Condition excellent.

Greens: Green, fast in speed, with medium firmness. Noted to be undulating and tricky to read at times. Speed about a 10.5. Condition excellent.

Sand: very well maintained and soft. Condition excellent.

Rough: very well maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Condition excellent.

Water Hazards: incredible to the eye and challenging. Condition excellent.

Waste Areas: manicured nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition excellent.

POP: 3.25 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly.

Can’t speak more highly of this course, it was a real treat! Could not believe that a short course would bring such a powerful golf punch and experience. This is simply a masterpiece of short course! If you ever get a chance to play this track, don’t miss it! This course was very close to perfect in layout and condition. Challenge, fun, and beauty all in one! I am still buzzing from playing this one, and can only hope, I get a chance to play it again!

Thank you again, Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this unforgettable round of golf!

Had the treat of playing at PVCC - Championship with Gary, Ron, and Matt. A Most Excellente Magical Monday with solid golfers who were excellent playing partners!

PVCC - Championship is a hybrid Parkland and Resort style course that features mature palm trees, strategic bunkering, fairway mounding and moguls, along with numerous water hazards that are traditional of Ted Robinson Design golf courses. In many ways this course reminded me of Marriot Desert Springs – Palm Course in Palm Desert, CA, but much better and more challenging.

The course is primarily flat but offers a lot of fairway undulations throughout, which keep you in-check. The course is surrounded by various dwellings, which appeared to be for quality living. The course is certainly walkable and is very scenic.

The course primarily defends itself with well positioned bunkers and beautiful water hazards, medium to fast sloped greens that tend to be elevated, and funneling wind conditions. The course was always fair and played in a “what you see, is what you get” manner. The course played its yardage, fairways offered moderate roll out on drives and greens held approach shots well. The course was very well manicured and in Pristine-Christine Condition! The course layout is rated a 4.9 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.9 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Condition excellent.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Condition excellent.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium firmness. Noted to be undulating and tricky to read at times. Speed about a 10. Condition excellent.

Sand: very well maintained, heavy, and soft. Condition excellent.

Rough: very well maintained and defined, about 3 – 4 inches. Condition excellent.

Water Hazards: Water features were very well placed but never unreasonable to the player. Such were noted to be very attractive which provided an additional beauty element to this very fine golf course. Condition excellent.

Waste Areas: Waste areas were noted on a handful of holes and were maintained with manicured nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition excellent.

Driving Range and Practice Areas: The range was very nice, hitting off an artificial turf matt surface into a grassed valley. Range included various markers from 100 - 250 yards with runout at about 300 yards. Range balls were quality range golf balls that were very well maintained. I also noted a very nice chipping area and practice bunker. Excellent practice facility here, no doubt.

Practice Putting Greens: Two were noted. Large and in excellent condition. Speed was consistent with course.

POP: 4.25 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole. We paced ourselves accordingly.

Pro Shop: High quality and beautifully stocked. Service received was excellent.

Food: Had their Signature ABC Burger with fries. It was one of the best burgers I have ever eaten. WOW!

Really enjoyed this course and I strongly endorse playing PVCC if given the opportunity. This course is a fair test of golf that comes with a great surrounding environment, nice water features, and an overall beautiful scenery. I note the members here are very spoiled by this well-manicured wonderful golf course! I will play again if given the opportunity. I place this course as one of my top 3 favorite courses in the Desert and would consider joining if I lived I the vicinity. Everything about this club was perfect or close to it. This was a 5 Star Experience!

Thank you, Johnny and GreensKeeper.org for this Awesome Outing!

Enjoyed Sandpiper GC yesterday, being a Magical Monday with an early afternoon tee time. Played with Johnny, Ron, and Gary. We played it from the Golds with wind speeds between 5 - 15 mph. An incredible Monday!

The course was in very good condition and was very green. You can see the benefit the course received from the recent rainfall. The course was beautiful! As previously reviewed, this Ocean Front Beauty has a course layout that is top rated, and currently conditions are also rated very high.

I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage
Fairways: Green and lush, no damage
Greens: Green, medium to fast, no damage – recently Ninja Needle punched, which did not affect putting as greens were smooth. Speed 11 and held shots reasonably.
Sand: Reasonably maintained, both soft and hard. Had no issue with the two bunkers visited.
Rough and Waste Areas: Tall rough and waste areas are very penal on stray shots. Rough and waste areas that surround fairways was so brutal, you will likely lose your ball even if you are 1-2 feet in. This feature really made this a tough course on this day. It was Carnoustie Status rough!
Driving Range: Excellent grass range with the most beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean you can wish for. I can hit golf balls here all day. The hitting grass turf was also perfect.
Practice Putting Green: Excellent condition, but faster than course greens as it is very slopped.
POP: 4.75 hours – no wait, we just enjoyed pacing ourselves as we were not holding anyone up.

The course is an ocean style track with several holes running along the Pacific Ocean cliff line, remaining holes are inland with most offering beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The course offers a few elevation changes and blind shots that keep things interesting. The layout is very scenic and an overall very fun playing track.

This course requires reasonable accuracy off the tee into midsized fairways that are lined with heavy rough; along with waste areas, trees, or cliff sides. Greens tend to be medium in size and run medium to fast, often breaking towards the ocean, and usually held good shots. Both greens and fairways were strategically bunkered for protection. Course plays a bit longer due to the heavy marine layer, play shots 5-15 yards longer than normal yardage this time of year.

Snack shack offers food, snacks, and drinks. Perfect service received. Service received at Pro Shop and Bag Drop was also perfect. Pro Shop is also very nice. We started on time and noticed 1 Marshall on the course.

This course is strongly recommended. No doubt a 5-Star Experience! One of the best golf courses you will find for the dollar in California. Very grateful to have this course within 2 hours of me!

Enjoyed an excellent GK / GM Outing at LPCC with excellent playing partners Johnny and Ron. Great Gents and excellent players!

I can best describe LPCC as a fun Players Course with no hole being the same. This course really kept you in check, but was never unreasonable. The layout was excellent! Really enjoyed this place!

LPCC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and rough areas, well placed bunkering on fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic water hazards, with medium sized and reasonably fast greens.

The course is sometimes flat, other times undulating, and sometimes hilly with elevation changes from tee to green, and offers some attractive views of localized mountains and orchards despite running through quality residential housing.

The course plays like a Championship Style layout. You will need to work the ball in both directions, as doglegs were a definite theme. Wind speeds were calm, peaking at 10 -15 mph when gusting. The course seemed to play longer than it's yardage for the most part, about one club for me.

Rough: rough was well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Above average condition.

Waste Areas: Waste areas on various holes did not offer the opportunity of recovery due to their overgrown nature. Above average.

Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting from artificial turf. You are on a mildly elevated perch hitting into a grass valley with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 320ish. Range balls were your typical yellow rangers, but in very good condition.

Chipping Area: Compact in size and included a practice bunker. Condition and features were excellent.

Practice Putting Green: Ample in size and very well maintained. Practice greens seemed consistent with the speed of the course greens. Excellent condition.

POP: 4.5 hours – no wait was encountered on any hole.

Dove Canyon Golf Club is a very well designed Nicklaus Championship golf course that offers a variety of golf holes that are fun, interesting, and challenging. The course is built onto a scenic mountainside that features views of localized mountains and some local housing. This gorgeous course features large mature trees, strategic bunkering throughout, several elevation changes, along with limited water hazards. In some ways the layout reminds me of Nicklaus designed courses played in Cabo, without the Pacific Ocean or Gulf of California.

DCGC places premium on accuracy off the tee as you are hitting into mid-sized fairways, and into small to mid-sized greens from the fairway or on par 3s. The course defends itself with well positioned bunkers, medium length rough, and fast sloped greens. There were a few doglegs, but no blind shots. The course was always a fair challenge but required the execution of quality shots at all times, as being offline here introduced difficulty to achieve recovery. The course played its yardage, and fairways provided moderate roll out on drives and approaches.

The course is well maintained and in overall above-average condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.23 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and green, no damage. Condition above average.

Fairways: Green, lush, and defined from rough. Grabby with limited rollout. Condition above average.

Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, on the medium to firm side, and tricky to read at times. Speed about a 10.5. Conditions could be better, but still better than average.

Sand: Maintained with excellent consistency. Condition excellent.

Rough: Maintained and defined, about 3 – 5 inches. Condition excellent.

Waste Areas: Maintained with overgrown nature that offered little to no recovery potential. Condition excellent.

Driving Range: The range is flat and fully grassed, hitting off an artificial turf surface. Markers from 100 - 255 yards. Range balls were quality generic rangers. Condition excellent.

Practice Area: chipping area and green present. Condition excellent.

Practice Putting Green: One mid-size practice putting green was noted, in excellent condition. Speed of the practice putting green was consistent with course.

POP: 4.75 hours – very limited wait was encountered, all good. We paced ourselves accordingly.

Other: Noted a beautiful clubhouse, restaurant, and golf shop, all appeared high grade.

DCGC is a True Golf Experience. Certainly another Nicklaus Player's Course. This is a great golf layout without a doubt, that requires a decent golf game to score. I loved this track and hope to be able to play it again in the future.

Fully Endorsed!

Experienced Torrey Pines GC - South on an Amazing T-Tuesday! Played from the Black tees (Tips), and it was a tremendous test of golf. Thanking the Golf Gods my game was firing on all cylinders on this day.

The course was in very good condition overall. I again note the course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.45 out of 5. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage
Fairways: Green, lush, and at times tight, no damage
Greens: Green, very firm, fast, no damage
Sand: Well maintained, soft and heavy, very consistent
Rough and Waste Areas: Tall rough (over 4 - 5 inches) very penal
Driving Range: Improved from last time, as new mats were observed
Practice Putting Greens: immaculate
POP: 4.75 hours with little wait time experienced

TP - South is a True Championship Golf Course with an ocean style layout with many holes running along the Pacific Ocean cliff line, remaining holes are inland with most offering beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. The course is moderately undulated and does offer some elevation changes. Great for walking if you are fit for the challenge. This walk will certainly activate the quads, hamstrings, and glutes!

The layout is very scenic and demanding off the tee and fairway. Premium is placed on hitting fairways and greens, or your ball is eaten by rough or deep bunkers, or a massive cliff. Greens were usually medium in size, firm to all shots, layered, and fast (11ish on this day). Both greens and fairways were strategically bunkered for protection. Course plays longer due to the marine layer, played shots 5 - 10 yards longer than normal yardage.

Again, this is a must play golf course, if your willing to pay the premium. Totally worth the money for a special occasion if you have the game for it. Highly endorsed!

Played ANGC 2 weeks ago with a mid-morning tee time. The course was in good condition and with a combination of green to yellow throughout the playing surface. No dry out or dirt spots observed, considering the heat and drought, conditions are rated a 4.0 out of 5 overall. I note the following:

Tee Boxes: Level and semi-lush, no damage
Fairways: Greening up and tight, no damage
Greens: Greening up, firm, and medium-fast, no damage
Sand: Well maintained and soft
Rough and Waste Areas: Well maintained and defined
Driving Range: Off grass and in good condition
POP: 4 hours

As previously reviewed, this course is a desert layout that requires reasonable control off the tee and into greens. Greens roll fast but hold good shots. ANGC is an excellent layout that can be enjoyed by any decent golfer. I recommend this course, especially if a discounted rate is found.

On a side note, restaurant is still not open, but the snack shack does offer limited food, snacks, and drinks.

ANGC is a solid players layout and worth the experience. Driving range is off grass and a great place to practice. Recommended!
