Played a match today from the white tees with Kviser, and joining us were Jessie and Scott. My first time here, and I really enjoyed it. The check-in and Marshall were courteous and friendly. The tees were a little spotty on coverage, but I was always able to sort it out. The fairways were in good shape for such a dry summer, and the first cuts of rough were very playable too. Approach aprons were all mowed tight and quite helpful. The traps were packed and damp, and you had to pick it clean for egress. The greens were pretty fast in the morning, and steadily slowed as the round concluded. They were very soft underfoot, in fact, my pin high approach shot from 120 out on #8, was a fried egg on the green! There were many greens where the kikuyu fringes are trying to encroach. This is a kikuyu dominant track and not a push over. We saw the drink cart twice and plenty of wildlife. We had great golf weather and playing partners. Recommended.

Morning tee time at MC have not played here for awhile and conditions have really improved. Previous review is spot on and the greens are back to their challenge. Greens were a little spongy in anticipation of the heat but are still very tough to read. Beautiful day and the local wildlife make for a pleasant round.

Out early as always. Arrived at 5:25am, and by 5:40 am there were a lot of people there, but the pro shop had not yet opened. Able to get out ahead of the crowds which was nice. I generally run into a lot of back nine play, but today, just one single, which I easily played through.

The course is probably in the best condition I have seen for a long time. The fairways are green and lush with good coverage. I only had about 5 or 6 mowed greens, but those that were cut rolled very nicely. I rarely spin the ball back on my shorter irons, but today I backed up several shots, which is not typical for me. Greens very receptive! Bunkers were not great. I found two and both were just full of water from the sprinklers. Worst part of the course were the tee boxes. I played "tips" so I could usually find a decent area to hit from, but otherwise the tees were really beat up.

Love playing this course. Enjoy the views, the deer, the variety of the holes. Not the most difficult course, but sure is fun.

Love getting back to Marshall Canyon, one of my favorite LA County courses. Always a pleasure to be amongst the deer and enjoy the views. Fun shorter track which still provides enough of a challenge to keep your interest, particularly the greens, which if you are not familiar can be very tricky to read.

Surprised and pleased that the greens were in better shape than I expected given the recent aeration. Decent speed and rolled pretty true. Mostly good coverage in the fairways, with areas of bare spots. Rough is inconsistent, with some thick spots - some thin spots. A few tee boxes were beat up, but could always find an area which was OK.

Senior rates make this a great deal and the character of the course allows for a variety of shots. Recommend for anyone who has not yet experienced this course

Range: Weekends the range is grass. Balls are in decent shape, you do scoop your own so you can pick and choose the balls to an extent. Range is small, not too many stalls but it wasnt busy for me. The grass was nice and pretty flat, given the area. Large putting green to practice on that was rolling very close to the speeds on the course.

Pace of Play: We finished just around 4 hours which was pretty darn good for an afternoon, weekend round.

Course: Greens were punched recently, but healing nicely. Some top sand on the greens, but they were rolling fast. The fairways were nice as usual, and the grass around was green. Rough was pretty good too, I didnt find myself out there too often, but the conditions were fine. Tee boxes could use some work, a few of them were sloped strangely and had some divot damage. Overall, in pretty good condition and would recommend playing.

Lots of animals out and about on the course too, so thats always something I enjoy.

I was anxious to get back out to Marshall Canyon to see just how much the recent winds changed the appearance of the course, having been advised so many trees had been blown down. While there were certainly a number of stumps, and a lot of debris still all around the course, I must say that the course did not provide any real visual change. Perhaps if I played here every day, I might notice the absence of the downed trees, but thankfully the course still looked pretty much like always.

The greens did not look fast, but they rolled out much more than expected. They were not smooth and need to be rolled. Fairways had decent coverahe, but many areas which are thin/bare. The rough throughout the course and areas adjacent to the tee boxes still have a lot of debris around them. Almost every green had the collars/aprons covered with sand, so it appears they are attempting to improve those areas.

Always love playing here. Fun course, great price for seniors, nice vistas, and this morning there were deer everywhere. The only downside for me was after walking the front in a little over an hour, the back nine was packed with "back nine" play. Difficult to maintain a rythem when you're waiting on every shot.

Played Wed. 2-2 on a very cold morning with a 6:50 tee time. After the sun was up over the hills it turned into a nice comfortable day.We played as a threesome and waited on almost every hole behind a slow foursome. Finished in 4:20. The course has lost/damaged 60-70 big trees in the wind storm last week. Starter said they had winds of 80mph.They are doing their best to get all of the cleanup done but they still have a lot to do. Most of the fairways have been cleared of the big trees and only the green on #11 still has a tree down on the left side of it. They had a very large tree fall on to the cart barn and go thru the roof which destroyed two carts. The fairways are still littered with debris from pine needles to small branches.The greens rolled quite nice and very few ball marks. I would wait a couple more weeks before playing here again but there was a lot of golfers out today. I'm not going to rate this course today as it really would'nt be fair.

Nice to get back to Marshall Canyon, but it sure was cold out this morning. Walking allows you to generate some body heat. Can not imagine how long it would take to get loose in a cart. Prior review by Matt was spot on, but I thought the greens actually rolled better than they looked. ( I guess because I was prepared for them to be bumpy, it was not as bad as expected. Fairways looking pretty good. Decent coverage on nearly every hole. Rough was inconsistent - some thin, some rather thick.

Always enjoy playing this course. Fun track, beautiful views, lots of deer. Just a pleasant walk on a "winter feeling" morning

Played October 12. Went out as a single and paired up with a pretty decent guy. As always, pro shop staff was awesome. It is my home course so i try not to annoy anyone that works here.

Played October 12. Went out as a single and paired up with a pretty decent guy. As always, pro shop staff was awesome. It is my home course so i try not to annoy anyone that works here.

Renovations to the clubhouse seem to be coming along nicely. Should look really nice when it is complete.

Range is okay. There was some grass, but stalls had some really uneven spots.

POP was about 4 hours, which is not terrible for a holiday Monday.

Tee boxes were good, though a few uneven tee boxes.

Tee boxes were lush but a few are uneven. Was still able to find a good spot to tee off from on each hole.

Fairways were good. Not many bare spots. Rough was lush and long. Sand was hard and needs some work.

Greens were punched a few weeks ago and were recently sanded. They were bumpy. Ran medium speed but was hard to make putts with how bumpy they were. Also, people need to fix their ball marks!

As always, i do love this course. It is greater than the sum of its parts. With the deer and bobcats running around, it really is a neat spot to play. I will be back next weekend.
