POP was 4 hours.

Greens- 10/10 rolled true good speed and tough to read
fairways- 8/10 some dead spots and bare patches but for the most part good coverage
rough- 4/10 pine needles, tree roots and mud make up the rough here.... you're either in the fairway or you're hitting off pine needles, hidden tree roots and pinecones
sand- 3/10 Pretty much concrete. #18 was a decent trap but the rest are all firm. I did see sand in the parking lot which looks like they may be putting in new sand soon!
tee boxes- 6/10 par 3's were pretty bad and hole #1 was pretty chopped up but the rest were decent.

I do have to say the marshall there was a complete jerk! He came by at 8 am with his clipboard and asked us what our tee time was. (We were currently on hole 12) we said 6 and he started berating us that we were behind. We started arguing with him stating there was no one behind us for 3 holes! He said that doesn't matter we were still behind. LMAO Just to clarify if you have played 12 holes in 2 hours and 3 minutes and there isn't anyone behind you for 3 holes..... YOU'RE NOT BEHIND! The guy was a complete moron and our group was about to just walk off because of his attitude but chose not to. I highly suggest marshall canyon gets rid of their marshall whos shows up 2 hours after the first tee time and tells people they're behind..... lol

Played today. Love the improvements (all new front entrance to clubhouse) being made on the clubhouse (pro shop is were old restaurant was) restaurant (no food service at all at present) etc. But I wish they would put some of that love into the course. Found the course completely saturated both in the fairways (no roll out at all) and on the greens (spongy and balls plugging). Tee boxes were in terrible shape. Rough was overgrown in almost every area. Traps were not playable. Greens as I stated were soft and left divots or just plugged and putted SLOW. Not convinced they have the best superintendent or grounds crew in the LA County staff. Won't be going back anytime soon. Wildlife (deer, coyote, fox) was worth the time spent. Like being in a zoo without cages.

Played today at 7:50 AM.. Low crowd attendance. Easy on, no push from impatient (in a hurry) players, behind us.

Played today at 7:50 AM.. Low crowd attendance. Easy on, no push from impatient (in a hurry) players, behind us.
The track is in really good shape. Fairways are lush and soft. It looks like they are really watering, ???? throughout the course. The rough is about 1 1/2" - 2". Playable and fair. Bunkers have good quality sand and is maintained, yes RAKE, after you hit out of them! The greens are soft and squishy, and rolls at a medium pace. Many greens are really large, so 3 putt is a potential here... Hahaha ??
I would play here again.

Played one of LA County"s little gems. Sorry its so far from where I live or I'd play it more than the few times I do. We got out early and fortunately the mower was out even earlier! We had some of the best conditions. Fairways very nice and the greens were immaculate! I only fixed a few ball marks! THANKS EVERYBODY! (my pet peeve!). Cart gals are back so all is right in the golf world! Play this Course if you get a chance. It won't disappoint.

Thanks to Weber and Chevelle for their previous reviews. They answered several questions for me to help make me decide to go back since last Nov. I also have always liked this old style course but was not enamored with the care it was receiving in the past. Perhaps (at least I hope this is the case) the county has finally found the real value of this wonderfully located course. Both previous reviews stated pretty much what I would have said. And i also was very glad to have dry and puttable greens today vs wet soggy in the past. As Chevelle mentioned, the rough was brutal. Maybe they leave it long in hopes the deer will clear it out? In any event I will be going back more often than in the past. And Weber is correct. It is a great deal if you have the LA County senior card.

One of my favorite LA County golf courses. Love the views, the deer, and the mix of holes. The greens to me are the most critical part of this course, because that's the defense of this place. Greens much better than expected, in fact they are better than I can remember them being for some time. ( I sure hated when they were to wet they left foot prints) In fact, overall the course was in better condition than I've seen it for some time. Add to that the price with the senior discount and it's such a bargain.

My only complaint is that I tend to run into back nine play, but not an issue this time. All and all, a great day with beautiful weather

Played Tues April 27th at 7am, got there early and got out 10 minutes early as a 3 some as 1 of our guys was stuck in traffic. No one in front of us and a single played caught us on 6, on 7 we waved him up but he said no so we just played. POP was fast at 3:08, tee boxes were good fairways green, and as it rained the night before the rough was brutal, 3" long and wet, was in the 18th hole green side trap and was rather hard. The greens were supposed to be punched April 5th and if they were are completely healed, they rolled really nice with down hill putts being fast, this is a difficult place to putt and I was happy with no 3 putts and 32 total putts. They are doing construction and now have temporary bathrooms outside, they said snack bar was also but couldn't find it, driving range and putting green open.

Played here today, 4/19 at 10AM. Pace of play was great, we finished under 4 hours and the weather was perfect.

Played here today, 4/19 at 10AM. Pace of play was great, we finished under 4 hours and the weather was perfect.

The course does have a driving range, you can hit off of grass or mats. There is a large putting area as well, that rolled true to the course. The clubhouse is not currently open, they do have the old proshop split into a temporary beverage area, along with the starter window.

The tee boxes were the best I have ever seen at this course, the tee boxes were all lush, not sloped and had no major divot damage. The fairways were also in better shape than expected, very lush with little to no bare spots and grass was good throughout. The rough was as expected, some bare spots, deer, deer poop and bugs. The greens were rolling really nice, very tricky to read but smooth throughout the course.

For the price, this is a good little course and I would say check it out if you've never played here; youll see deer, squirrels, birds, strange bugs and maybe even a bear (youll see a picture of the bear family in the proshop).

Not much of a change from my previous review last month, although the greens felt somewhat firmer, but rolled pretty true. Most of the fairways have decent coverage, with more bare areas and spots which were kind of damp. Several tee boxes were more "chewed up" than I remember. Overall about typical conditions for this course, which is always fun to play.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. One of my favorite L A County courses to play.
