Played Navy on 12/12. Typical Navy. Fairways were solid for the most part. They were still damp from the rains, so if you didn't hit the ball perfectly, you chunked it. Rough not too difficult. The greens are what they are here at the end of the day. It's poa and its bumpy by twilight. I love the course. Great layout and a great deal in OC. Play can be slow during twilight, but you can always get out. No complaints during this round. Oh snack shack is now card only, fyi......

After two rounds of less than optimal playing conditions, it was a real treat to play the Navy course this weekend with my monthly group. We played from the white tees and had an absolutely enjoyable experience from start to finish.

Course is in fine shape right now from tee to green. Tee boxes in good shape, fairways are mostly green and well maintained, while the rough provides ample lushness and enough of a challenge to make it fun. Only the very few thin areas to provide you some discomfort, but for the most part you're going to have a good shot. Bunkers were a wee bit crusty, but nothing to cause too much trouble.

Greens have recently come out of a punch and are in good shape. They are not fast by any means, but hold shots well and roll true. A few of them are still showing some signs of the punch near the aprons, but for the most part you're going to have a quality experience.

Did not see cart service throughout the day which was a surprise, and there is no snack shop at the turn (this is not a nine and back to the clubhouse layout), but you can get snacks and drinks at the 12th tee snack shop and the drinking fountains on the Navy course are the best I've ever seen at any public course - cold water and clean fountains. Carts have a very basic GPS on them but it's helpful for any first timers.

I always enjoy this course immensely and this weekend was no exception. Even had my best-ever round here. What seems like a pretty straight forward course is quite filled with hazards and perils, so beware. It's not a pushover of a course and there's plenty of danger to mess with your scorecard, but keep the ball in the safe zones and you'll be rewarded with a great day.

Played Wednesday late morning and finished in 4:40. The greens were aerated two weeks ago. There are still signs of punching but the greens are very playable. Putting was fairly smooth with a little bumpiness, medium speed, and held shots. The fairways had good coverage with a few thin spots. The rough along the fairways was good with some thin/bare spots and not too penal. The rough around the greens was good. The bunkers were a little crusty but in overall good condition. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness.

The course offers a nice variety of holes with water coming into play on several holes. The driving range rotates between mats and grass depending on the day (don't know the rotation schedule). There are two putting greens and a chipping green with a bunker. The restaurant has good food. The staff is friendly.

Played course on 8/28. Temperature at course was some 15 degrees cooler than IE area with steady breeze from noon to 4PM. Pace of play was good with little waiting until hole 13 with round starting at 11:30. Course was is great shape with good fairway lies and smooth greens. Greens are very large on this course so you need to make sure of your club choice on each hole.
Lots of water but a lot of it is not really in play. Have funny policy of not taking any cash so bring a credit or debit card.

Played on Saturday with a GN tee time @ 11:00 for $40 with cart, not bad for a Saturday.. When I arrived they asked if I was willing to go out earlier, so I said yes and they told me I was on the tee. I arrived on the tee in a panic and grabbed a ball, tee and my driver and took a quick swing as other groups were waiting for me to get going. Wasn't able to get out of the play quick mode until after the 2nd hole. This was only my 2nd time playing this course and the last time was Christmas Day 2017, so memory wasn't working all that well. The course was in fine shape. Decent GPS on the carts. Layout - Straight forward layout, with a few doglegs to make things interseting. Make sure you stay to the right on your drive, as trees can interfere with the second shot. Tees - Mostly good, with the par threes chewed up like most par threes are, and a few tee boxes were slighty unlevel. Faiways - Very good lies all day, very green and lush. The only thing I have to say about the fairways is the amount of goose droppings, they are evrywhere and these are equal opportunity geese, they drop on fairways that have lakes and don't have any water in site. Walking this course can get a little messy. Greens - Good shape and rolled good, but a little slow for my taste. Down hill putts still have to be given a little thump to get the ball to the hole. Not too many unrepaired ball marks on this day. Rough - thin and not very penal. Bunkers - Good sand in all bunkers that I was in. Fairway bunkers were firm like a fairway bunker should be, but still had enough sand that a rake was needed. Greenside bunkers were in good shape and the only problems that I came upon was the bunk not raked very well. Not the courses fault. Not the best sand in the world, but very playable none the least. Pace of play was at 4.5 hours and we waited on most shots. Beautiful day out with a nice breeze. I look forward to coming back.

Played the Navy Course this afternooon on a warm day and was paired with a very nice twosome. Haven't been here in a few years but the course looked to be in very nice shape and they have mown down a lot of the areas where there use to be grass bunkers? The fairways were in great shape and all sand traps I were in the sand was very soft and very playable. Greens rolled true and were medium pace. The pace of play was a little slow but nothing to complain about, I teed off at 3 and finished around 7:45 so all in all wasn't too bad. A good time was had by all and I would love to play it again sometime..

first off here today at 6 am and we finished by 9 am as a 3 ball walking. They are doing a great job keeping this course in shape. With the exception of the bunkers, everything was a strong 7-8 out of 10. Sand was wet and inconsistent. Played the blue tees and there are a few holes with some teeth but for the most part this course is straight forward old style golf. It is an enjoyable round especially with these conditions and i look forward to returning. We paid $45 pp to walk so it is reasonably priced as well.

Played Wednesday teeing off about 11am finishing in 4:40. The greens are in good shape rolling medium/fast speed and holding shots. The fairways overall have good coverage. The heat of recent weeks have browned and thinned a few areas but overall very playable. The rough along the fairways has mostly good coverage with a few thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair to good. Some bunkers are somewhat crusty and compacted. The tee boxes are also fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness.

I Enjoy the varied layout of the Destroyer course. The biggest challenge are the undulating greens (especially if you are not familiar with the course). Several holes have have "No Play Zones" marked by red stakes with green tops. Under local rules these areas provide for a FREE DROP outside the area within two club lengths of where the ball crossed the edge no nearer to the hole. The rule is stated on the scorecard. The staff is friendly.

Played Wednesday 7/24. Teed off late morning playing in 4:45. The greens are in good shape. They verticut the greens the day prior but it did not affect play. The greens rolled smooth on the high side of medium speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage with a few areas thinning a little. The rough along the fairways is mostly good but stray too far off there are some thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair to good. Some have good depth of sand while others have sand but are compacted. The tee boxes are mostly good with some mild unlevelness. Always enjoy the layout. Recently Navy has gone to credit cards only (maybe atm cards not sure) but no cash. This policy includes the pro shop and restaurant. The staff is friendly.
