Course conditions were the same as the last reviewer except the greens were not bumpy at all. They were smooth, receptive, and semi fast. Everyone enjoyed putting on them. The course is not super difficult but can be tricky with all the water and slight doglegs. Bunkers were consistent and the course is green and an easy walk. We all had so much fun we are heading back there this Monday!
Recommended!

First time playing the destroyer--Out in the land of " sngernz" yesterday 5/7/2018 as a part of the Kiwanis scramble tournament. Well run tournament with a shotgun start at 1pm. Nice box lunch and dinner. Pretty nice facilities with a well stocked pro-shop, driving range and 2 separate putting greens. Joined by my brother-in law, Andrew and Brandon--great fun group to play with. Weather was high 60's with a 1 club breeze for most of the day.

First impressions with the conditioning of the course and layout were pretty good.

Layout wise there are some outstanding doglegs that have character where you need to work the driver both ways. Some of the holes reminded me of a longer version of Elkins Ranch in Fillmore where a shot in the center of the fairway might need to draw or fade a good 20-30 yds from the tee. Fun layout with number 17 I believe being a longer challenging par 3 and a couple other fun long par 5's that played into the wind. There is a channel that runs along some holes that is not in play but separates the course from hole to hole. Enough bunkers, water and some OB and red stake areas to catch an offline shot. I thought it was a really fun course to play. A 2 hr drive in rush hour but if timed right from my area I would recommend it.

The Kikuyu fairways were nice and green and I thought pretty lush. Very few problem areas. I thought mostly great coverage--ball sitting up in fairways--rated 7.5/10 maybe even an 8.

The rough was cut down just low enough for play-ability but still was a challenge. Most of the rough was in good shape. There were some areas around some of the trees that were wet and damp with some mud but not to bad. Overall rough rating 7/10.

The poa greens looked great to the eye and held like darts with high irons. Very soft and spongy. Putting wise they were a bit bumpy but not to bad. Most ballmarks were fixed--I fixed an extra 2-3 per hole. Rating the greens a 6.5/10.

The tees were very lush, great coverage, some were un-level but you could always find a nice level spot to tee from. Rating 7/10.

Was not in any sand bunkers the entire day. They looked to be raked and in decent firm shape.

I was not expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised condition and layout wise. Fun semi-challenging track. Recommended by this golfer.

Teed off Wednesday morning a little after 10am finishing in 4:20ish. The greens are in decent shape. They had not been mowed so they were a little bumpy and medium/slow speed but predictable. The fairways for the most part were good with a few small areas along the outer portion where turf had been cut out. Looks like new sod will be put into the cut outs. The rough along the fairways mostly good. The bunkers were in good condition. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness.

The driving range, as of March 1, 2018, will be on grass Monday-Wednesday (range closed for maintenance Mondays until 10:30am). Mats Thursday-Sunday (range closed Thursdays for maintenance until 12pm).

Destroyer is a fun track to play with a variety of holes. The staff is friendly.

On the Destroyer for $29 walking Twilight Wed. afternoon. Course was busy but overall PoP was around 4.5 hrs. Lots of tree maintenance going on as well as the planting of several Palm clusters in various areas ... expect some minor changes next time you play here. Also, several of the H20 hazards now called 'waste areas.

Overall conditions fair to good: fairways mostly green, full Kikuyu thining out under the trees that line most every fairway. Bunkers unconditioned today which meant a few unraked foot prints (even with a rake a few feet away ... amazing) but good depth of sand and very playable. Greens were afternoon Poa so a bit bumpy and slow-ish as expected. Still consistent and predictable.

Always enjoy the layout challenge and customer service is great (starter helped get us out a bit early) although my bud had to wait longer then normal for his Tuna sandwich. Still recommended.

Teed off Monday morning at 7:20 finishing in 4:15. The greens for the most part have recovered from aeration. They rolled good with medium speed and held shots. The fairways are mostly good with some thin spots throughout. The rough near the fairways is mostly good but the farther you stray the patchier it becomes. The one bunker I played from was in good condition while the others appeared to be well groomed. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. Fun varied layout with water coming into play on several holes. The staff is friendly.

Played yesterday. $34 Twilight with cart. Nice deal for this type of course.

Greens were quick and firm. Characterize them as a little too firm but with rains conditions will improve. Debris on green will literally knock ball off line. Putts for most part however held their line, just had to make sure little or no debris on path. Greens were quicker than they appear.

Fairways had good coverage considering it's winter conditions. Rough was thickish in places with varying height. Bunkers around greens beware. They have a thick layer of sand around sides with hold the ball in place. Expect cock-eyed lies. Folks fix your mess in the bunkers. If I was to criticize the bunkers it would be the lack of rakes per bunker and the sand along the sides but hey don't hit your ball into the bunker.

Pace of play was OK. We were a riding threesome following another threesome and they were slow. The twosome behind us never caught up to us except for a few holes.

Conditions overall are OK and with the rain I suspect it will only improve from there. Expect tricky greens that will not hold shots, however you can take advantage of the undulations on the green to stop the ball so there is a way to play the greens. Put enough spin on your ball and you can halt it quickly.

Navy course kicked my butt today, but the conditions didn't have anything to do with my awfulness. In fact, outside of the unlevel tee boxes, found the course to be in really good winter shape. And only paying $29 to walk was a real bonus. I walked on around noon and though crowded, the starter Bryce was awesome and got me on quick. Much appreciated!

I found the fairways to be mostly in good shape and actually showing some green, but there are a few dried out spots but nothing to really complain too much about. Rough was fine - manageable. Tee boxes? A bit chewed up on a few holes and on the back nine some really unlevel ones that could use a reboot. Sand traps seemed okay - had no trouble getting out of the two I was in.

Greens? Really nice, and really a lot more tricky than I remember from the last time out there. But they're in nice shape, running medium fast and rolling true. As for holding shots, I didn't hit too many greens but my playing partners I was joined up with seemed to have no complaints.

Cart service came around early which was great and took care of things nicely ... good to also have that very convenient snack shop on the 12th hole. Speaking of the 12th hole, the lake guarding the green is currently drained so there's a funky little smell when you're on the green. But hey, at least you can play it now if you come up short.

Wish I had played better but kudos to the Navy staff for having their course in really good shape. And if you want a really challenging, long track to test you, stop by. You won't regret it.

Teed off Wednesday mid morning and finished in 4.5 hrs. The greens are in good shape. They are rolling smooth with medium/fast speed and were playing slightly firm. The fairways are in good winter thin condition with a few extra thin spots. The rough is winter low with some thin/patchy areas. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to unlevelness. The two bunkers I was in were in good condition. I observed grounds crews putting new sand in many bunkers during the round. Always a fun track to play with plenty of variation. The staff is friendly.

They were a little little compacted/thin at the bottom but very playable. The tee boxes were fair to good mostly due to unlevelness.
