Played the Destroyer on 12/26, twilight (12:08PM tee time and got off at 12:20) rate around $26 walking w/buds and we barely finished in a 4.5 hr PoP. Found in the course in very good winter condition. Kikuyu fairways are green and mostly full, unlike other (ie. Long Beach) courses that have moved to more matted, dormant conditions. Gets a bit thin the farther you move away from the middle, but still playable. Greens good for an afternoon round, soft enough to hold most approach shots and rolling fairly true minus a few bumps at medium speed but you must stay on the same level of the pin or say bye-bye. Only in one GS bunker, sand a bit thin at the bottom unfortunately. Lot's of golfers today but the ranger did a good job of herding the cats, so a big thanks cuz I didn't think we'd have any chance to finish. Recommended.

Course is in great winter shape. Nice fairways that, when dry, let you get some roll. When they are wet, not much roll.
The tee boxes were the worst part, and not that bad. A couple have some mounding where the blue tees are, but it's ok.
The bunkers had nice and soft sand. Nice to play from (well, not really nice, lol).
The greens, while in great shape, were testy today, as usual, haha. Fast pace except on uphill putts, and the undulations are massive on some holes. Very tricky to putt well at Navy.
Highly recommend right now, even with a close to 5 hr pace on a weekday.

Played mid morning on Wednesday and finished in 4:40. The greens were very good. They rolled towards the fast side, smooth, and held shots. The fairways are in good condition with some thin spots and a few soft spots from watering. The rough is good with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers were good although a bit on the wet side. The tee boxes were fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. The staff was friendly.

Played Thursday morning a little after 7am and finished just under 4 hours. The greens were in good shape. They were medium/fast speed, smooth, and held shots. The fairways were in good condition overall with some thin areas. The rough was good with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair to good. Some are a little thin of sand in the bottom. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. Navy is a flat course with a nice variety of holes and water coming into play on several holes. The driving range is closed Monday and Thursday mornings for maintenance until about 10-10:30am. The staff has always been friendly.

Haven't played here in quite some time but will return real soon. Walked the blues yesterday for $43. Teed up at 7:20 and was done by 11:20. This place is in VERY GOOD shape right now. Sure there a are couple unleveled tee boxes and a ball mark or two on some greens but for the most part everything is better than average. The layout is old style and straight forward but you still need to place your tee shots are the right side on the fairways to have a clear shot. My entire group agreed that it was well worth the money spent to play here especially with the pace at 4 hours. we will return real soon......

Looking to play somewhere I usually don't get too, so decided to try the Navy course, on a very busy morning. Perfect weather, particularly for November. Totally agree with Mark's prior review, although I thought the greens were better than described. Overall the course is in nice shape.

I was lucky to get out within the first few groups so the pace of play wasn't too bad, all things considered. I enjoy this course, but I NEVER play well here. Don't know what it is, just can't seem to put any kind of decent score on the board. Nice morning despite the poor play.

Played here Saturday with a 12:30 TeeOff.com "Deal" time. I'd wanted to play here for a long time and recently found a day they were allowing TeeOff promo codes, so I used a 25% off code to pay around $32. When I arrived, they didn't have my reservation, but I showed them the confirmation email and one of the guys said sometimes the TeeOff.com reservations don't show up in their computers. They radio'd over to the starter and ended up getting me right out, actually a few minutes ahead of my time. Very friendly staff all around. I was paired with 3 others and POP was sorta slow but luckily got moving just in time for us to finish right after the beautiful sunset. Total around 4:30.

Conditions are pretty good. The greens were good but were maybe the low point. They were lush, medium speed and a little bumpy. I'm sure they are better in the mornings, but they were showing lots of ball marks and minor flaws in the afternoon. They were very soft; full shots stopped right where they landed. Fairways were mostly very nice, a little thin in a some spots. Rough was also pretty lush and not very penal. Blue tee boxes were good. The bunker sand was very nice...definitely above average, which I appreciated.

This was my first time ever playing here. I enjoyed the course quite a bit. There's tons of water that comes into play. Maybe the only faults are the surrounding city streets encroaching in spots and a lack of elevation changes. I played terribly, so I'd like to get back out there to redeem myself.

Played mid morning Wednesday, 11/1, finishing in 4:45. The course is in overall good condition. The greens rolled mostly smooth with medium/fast speed and held shots. The fairways had good coverage overall with a few thin spots. The rough is mostly good with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers were fair to good. One bunker had a thin layer of sand and hard underneath. The other bunker I was in was in good shape. The tee boxes are fair to good mostly due to mild unlevelness. Always and enjoyable track to play. Water comes into play on several holes but the undulating greens are the biggest challenge. The staff was friendly.

Played late morning Wednesday finishing in 4:40. The greens are in good condition rolling medium/fast speed and holding shots. The fairways are mostly good with some thin spots. The rough was mostly good with some thin/bare spots and mowed down so the lies were not very penal. The bunkers were fair to good mostly due to being very wet (no standing water). The tee boxes are fair to good with some mild unlevelness. The collars around the greens have been punched. Next week, starting 9/25, the course will be punching a short stretch of fairway leading up to the greens plus other maintenance. The week of 10/2 is when the greens are scheduled to be aerated and sanded. The course has a flat and nice varied layout. The staff was friendly.
