If you can stand the heat, its hard to beat Shadow Hills. EZ Links Special $6.65, and forthat you get 18 holes,cart,bottled water, ice cold towels to keep you cool and fabulous customer service. I appreciate when you walk into the clubhouse and they give you the lay of the land and a cheerful greeting. To the course now, this is all about the precise layout of the bunkering and the large greens. The bunkers are lush but if you get pinned behind one of the high faces all these bunkers have it can get difficult especially in the fairways. If not accurate with your irons you could face long putts where it is tough to get the ball to the hole do too the very unpredictable and often slow Tiff Eagle greens. The fairways are pretty wide in most areas and draw very good lie's, only a few bare spots. This is well worth the drive and fuel because of the affordability, so next time your in the desert i suggest trying Shadow Hills.

I really enjoyed this course. They have got a few very challenging holes that make up for the many relatively easy ones. It is wide open but well bunkered so you will need a sand game. I wish the greens were nicer. They held chips and pitches well but did not roll well. We were lucky not to have much wind. A very friendly staff and clean clubhouse with great food is a bonus. I will be back.

Last Sunday, June 5th, we weren't expecting any time for golf, but we found ourselves showed up at almost 12:PM and got to go as soon as we were ready from the range where it's 85 degrees nice in temperature.

I can't remember when exactly the aeration began, but it was probably near May 18th or so. Anyway, Everything is coming back pretty nicely!

At the moment, we can expect the greens to be much slower than normal. Stimping 7 or 8, but surprisingly rolling true.

The fairways are great and had almost completely healed and are good to go.

The teeing grounds may have been punched last as I still see lots of sand and just not completely back. But not a big deal at all.

Bunkers are always fine.

On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, I have to give it a 6.7 at best because of of it's current conditioning and comparing it to some of its greatest days of good conditions (to which wasn't that long ago).

Please do not use this rating in just a short time from now. Shadow Hills are known for their great course maintenance and great conditions. It will be back in its great condition again. . . I can almost bank on that.

Played this morning around 8:45 and finished in 4 and a half hours. Very enjoyable course. Theres a lot of variety and beautiful scenery.The greens are a little inconsistent in their speed and there were a lot of pin placements that seemed a bit unfair. Very tough to say the least. A pet peeve of mine is unlevel tee boxes. Every tee box was nice and level. Perfect. The fairways and greens both had some brown spots but it did not really affect play much. All golf courses could take a lesson from the marshal here. Before you tee off he goes through the course rules and gives a quick familiarization with the unique aspects of the course. This would not be the first course I would play when in the area, but I would definitely play here again.

Had a good time with fellow GKers Robstretch (in a threesome in front of us), CPennbo, SBogey, and Moneysworth. This course is very well maintained. There were course groundskeepers everywhere. The shrubs in the waste areas were all trimmed. Maybe it is a consideration to the homeowners, as the course winds its way through the Sun City housing tract. I thought the layout was very forgiving. Pretty much wide open fairways; lots of huge bunkering and some water to watch out for, but nothing crazy. Landing areas were wide open. Approaches were straight forward. Greens were a little hard, but putted fairly consistent; however, they occasionally had a little bumpiness to them. I would like them to be faster (I heard Rob say it was a ten-maybe that's what he was told- but I think it was slower). The fairways, rough, and traps were immaculate for the most part. Course personnel were friendly, attentive, and courteous. We saw a lot of locals who drive their own golf carts, some of which were duded up pretty nice.

An awesome golf day, last Friday. I was joined by a GK member dconnally and his friend visiting from 'Vegas to do 36 holes, with Shadow Hills being the first 18.

I was very pleased to hear that him and his friend liked this course for the many reasons he's mentioned in his own review. I knew this course is a good course, but because it's not a popular course to play from the majority of GKr's, it's awkward to keep saying how good this course is in conditions and layout and not to mention how much fun it is to play.

This 6700 yard, par 71 delivers good greens keeping and maintenance on its fun loops around housing development.

Played early Friday morning 4/8/11 on a cold, breezy but sunny day following rain showers. Thanks to GKer noeldaof (a member at this club) for meeting us to play and providing great company and course info. This course plays through a retirement community but is noteworthy for variety of holes, a lot of unanticipated movement on fairways and greens, and especially excellent conditioning. Not a lot of elevation change, but greens were large, firm and quick, fairways had excellent lies (although a little soft from overnight rain), rough consistent. Good sand in the one bunker I visited. Wind provided a challenge on many holes crosswind or into the teeth, esp. the closing holes. Carts had ball/club cleaner and cooler with water provided. Friendly starter and overall staff. A couple holes on the back were cart path only. Good pace (4 hr) and definitely recommended.

Shadow Hills GC remains to be in great shape. Played there Sunday, Dec 5, and it was in great shape from tee to green. Althought the greens stimped at about 8, it rolled smoothly and true. The bunkers' sand are adequate filled in with light collored sand-- the sight makes it a pretty picture contrast-- ok well it depends on who you ask, I guess if you don't get in one. The fairways are a little wet in some areas but not flooded, although there were some soft muddy spots. It was just mostly lush and beautiful together with its good playing conditions.

The course was in so-so condition compared to what it normally would be. The reseeding process begins Monday, so that probably explains it.

The course was in so-so condition compared to what it normally would be. The reseeding process begins Monday, so that probably explains it.

This course has wide fairways large longated greens, but they also have lots of great big bunkers and about 6 holes with water in play. The two nines circles around the neighborhood homes and the fairways are pretty much carved in a valley like design, and it's pretty much flat for the most part.

Just a straight forward type of course, not to difficult to manage with lots of room for error and recovery.

With that said, it's a real fun easygoing track.
