Teed off at 12:30 with two nice guys who live in the complex. Lots of people in the parking lot and on the practice green so I was worried about finishing. Each hole seems isolated from the others so I couldn't tell if it was crowded. The guys I played with played fast, the group in front of us not so much. We waited on every shot and still finished by 4PM, This place runs a tight ship, I started on #1 but I think they were using split tees, so that had to of helped.
Course is a fun challenging layout coming out of overseed. Greens were large,smooth and medium fast. Fairways were plush but didn't heed much roll making for a long 6,467-yard blue tees.
Sand traps were numerous, huge, flash faced and filled with sparkling white soft sand. Done in an Australian sand belt style they framed the holes beautifully.

I am biased because I live here at Sun City Shadow Hills. Played today and the course was in nice condition even though it is going into overseed tomorrow until November 7.

I recommend the course. However, I would like to note that it is a public course and very busy, 4 hour and 20 minute round today starting on a Sunday at 10:20.

Played today with three younger golfers in their 30s. Very nice young men. They kept up even though they lost a total of 32 balls either in the water, bushes or out of bounds.

Interested if anyone else has seen this amount of balls that have gone missing in one round.

Played 9/11/22 @ 11am and it was HOT!! Tee boxes were nice and even from the blues, they're not too beat up on the par 3s either. Fairways with great coverage, occasional thin spots here and there but everywhere has grass. Rough not too penal but just enough to affect your shots. Sand traps had great sand in them. Greens on the other hand were good on the front nine but horrendous on the back nine! It was almost a night and day difference. Most of the greens in the back had some sort of disease that made them bumpy with a lot of clumps and bare spots in between the clumps. I don't know how to describe what they had going on, but putting was not fun at all. The clumps and bumps made the ball go everywhere- bouncing and hopping off line. I hope they are able to fix the greens because it's a fun layout.

Booked an 11:34 Sunday tee time earlier in the week, completely forgetting about both Coachella and Easter. In hindsight, I'm guessing Easter is why it was so incredibly inexpensive, a $30 "Deal" time on TeeOff.com minus 20% off for a total of $24. Arrived about an hour early today and was sent off early by myself, with the starter requesting that I don't push the twosome ahead. Worked out great as I was able to take pictures and dictate my own pace, then at the turn the twosome ahead offered to let me play through. Total POP was probably a little over 3 hours on a hot, bright and sunny day.

Conditions are good. Greens are firm, smooth, and medium fast. Rarely made any ball marks and when I did, they weren't very deep. Fairways have great coverage and provided good lies all day. The rough is also in good condition, a little lighter color than the fairways, and not penal at all. Blue tee boxes were good. (Oddly, whoever put the tee markers out seemed to forget about the blues on several holes; they were set off to the side near the black markers on those holes.) Bunkers were good except one that wasn't raked and I ended up in an extremely deep and punishing footprint. (Not the course's fault; careless players.)

Second time here. Very similar to my first visit about 13 months ago. Nice wide residential semi-private course with lots of water in play, some tricky greens and attractive sandbelt-style bunkering. Plus it's a Troon facility and the staff members I encountered were all very friendly. Recommended.

It was 90° covered skies when I got to the course and stayed the same pretty much for a couple hours.
The starter introduced me to another single and we zipped through the front in an hour and five minutes, but we caught up on the men’s club guys in the back and made the pace for a normal 2 hours.

The fairways were still nice and tightly mowed. There were standing water at some usual locations- some were in play which wasn’t a good thing.
Bunkers have plenty of sand and good to play out from. Mostly level teeing grounds…
Overall, the course is good to play.
No beverage cart, no gps on the carts fb. Helpful staff. $39 for resident.

Play days were over the weekend 06/05-06/06 in a nice summer like weather of 103, although it didn't feel like it- probably because of the slight breeze we had most the early part of the day. Oh, but when it stands still it feels hot especially near the bunkers. I joined three old friends for golf who are now residents here and at an adjacent golf community. So happy but jealous at the same time for them being together again from an old club we all were from. :) Current guest greens fee are at $35 which is really a deal. We paid $29 as a resident, and I'm sure if we had a player's card it'd be around $24. Anyway, all rates includes cart and range balls with the round. Good reviews prior to this and I have not much to add to it, however, we played lift clean and place as the ball picks up mud on the soft fairways. The greens rolled pretty good and true though in some parts of the greens you may see small spots of the coarse leaf Bemuda emerging as the rye slowly goes away for the summer. Still a great overall conditioning considering we're in the beginning of June already. Pace of play here is always within four hours for the most part. But on Sunday's round, we just played the front 9 twice because of the tournament ahead. 'Miss this place- still can't get used to the switch of front and back but not a big deal. The course is a lot of fun to play. Great place to spend a golf weekend.

I played Shadow Hills (South Course) on Saturday, teeing off at about 6:45. I had never even heard of this course (it's in the Sun City retirement community), and I really wasn't expecting too much. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The condition of the course was consistently solid. Tee boxes had good coverage, as did the fairways and rough, for the most part. The bunkers had plenty of sand and were well maintained (rakes present). The greens were consistently smooth and pretty lush.

I really enjoyed the layout. There was plenty of room to drive the ball. Many water hazards loomed to collect bad shots, but decent shots stayed dry. There were some long holes and a few birdie holes. Customer service was excellent everywhere on the property. Pace of play was under four hours, with marshals keeping an eye out for problems. I'd play this course, anytime.

A busy day. The #1 now is the old #10 across the bridge which is where we started. Busy day, the pace was just over four hours.

The greens were slow but rolled true- a few ball marks here and there- it wasn’t bad.
Fairways were nice and lush and as the rough. Bunkers were okay. Teeing grounds were level.

There were some small punch holes that didn’t affect the roll of the ball.
No beverage cart here.
Staff were helpful.
Our cart slowed down after 10 holes, they quickly got us another.
Still an okay course to play.

Played here Saturday, 3/20 at 12:45. Booked through TeeOff.com for an amazing rate of only $38. Not sure if that was a mistake or what (prices available seemed to vary wildly) but I’ll take it. Check in went smoothly, snack bar open, putting green open, got my cart fine. They had a starter out near the range sending groups off both the 1st and 10th tees. I was paired with two women who seem to play there regularly, and we started on the 10th tee. We waited quite a bit on the group in front of us and my playing partners both said pace was slow, but we finished in under 4 hours. (Apparently the day before they’d played in 3:05.)

Conditions are very nice. Greens run smooth, medium-fast and are quite firm. Full shots made very small ball marks and some, not all, took a bounce before stopping. Some greens seemed to have some sort of treatment that looked like uniform cuts with a razor blade. It didn’t affect putting at all. Fairways were lush rye with great coverage, providing really nice lies all day. The rough was dormant, short bermuda and a little spottier, coverage-wise. Still quite good, though. Blue tee boxes were all good. Lots of large, sprawling bunkers here and the one I was in was in good shape.

This was my first time here. Pretty much what I expected: Nothing terribly exciting, but a solid, mid-level residential course. I liked the bunkering I mentioned earlier, and there’s a good variety of holes with doglegs, different lengths, etc. Several water hazards come into play. Being north of Interstate 10, it’s prone to high winds and they did kick up during parts of the round. I'd put it in the same category as the nearby Mountain Vista courses... solid yet unspectacular. Seems like it’s mostly a club for residents of the surrounding community as the employees seemed to know all the regulars. Definitely recommended.
