I was bit disappointed, maybe it's just the winter conditions but I expected better. I've always liked the layout because it's a bit of changed compared to many courses that are just flat. I played Goose Creek which is about 15 miles away a few weeks earlier and for winter conditions it's in great shape and I was hoping for something somewhat similar. The tee boxes were good for the most part and they were somewhat level. The fairways were a mixed bag of good and bad, again it's winter so they're not going to be the greatest but there seemed to be a lot more brown than green. On hole #15 going up the hill in the fairway the ball would run back down 25 yards until it found some grass (sort of better off in the rough) to stop the backwards... in front of the green it was just as bad, if you hit a couple yards short the ball would come back down the hill 15 -20 yards. For me that's not a fair test of golf. On a flat course it probably wouldn't make as much of difference except for the extra roll out in distance. I think the fairways were the biggest disappointment. The sand traps were somewhat Ok, some were thin and some were good... except for the rocks, I don't mean some corn kernel size but the one's that were size of quarters. I know you're not suppose to pick those out but I have my limitations. On the other hand the traps are better than last year so the course has made some improvements. Now the greens were in great shape... very green, no severe divot damage, very smooth and rolling medium fast, probably the best part of the round. I'm not saying it's a course to avoid but I would perhaps wait for the fairways to green up a bit. A couple of the guys in our group were driving to the green given the fairways and the wind, #18 is 415 yards and definitely an elevated tee, but one guy hit it 4 feet off the green pin high... I told him it was a "lucky shot"... he said it was all "skill". I'll go back later in the spring when things are on the greener side.

Went out this morning as a 3 some and played in 4 hours. Bunkers on the front 9 have nice sand but they haven't got to the back 9 so just dirt. Greens were in fantastic shape at around 10 or better on the stemp meter and consistent. Now for the bad part, fairways are hard pan, very hard to judge your distance when you have no idea how much roll out you will get. It seems as though they just don't water the fairways.

Played Eagle Glen today at 12:20. Packed on the first tee got off about 15 minutes late. Tee boxes were overseeded and are very nice. Fairways are dormant but not hardpan. Good lies in the fairway for the most part. Rough is hit and miss mostly miss, pretty thing and patchy. Bunkers either had great soft heavy sand or were a gravel pit with tons of rocks in it. Greens were GREAT. Greens were smooth, full, fast speed, rolled true, beautiful. Overseed around the collar of the greens was in nice condition as well. 5 hour round played the last couple in the dark, really need marshalls to pick the play up out here. If youve played Eagle Glen before this is their standard dormant condition of winter but with the greens better than I've ever seen them.

Played Fri Dec 8th at 7am. Check in quick and friendly. Starter asked if we played there before and they had a policy for POP. We said yes we played here many times and we are fast players. Well, we followed this 4 some and we waited every hole. Yeah POP was 4:25, and that is what the course uses as a guide, but holy cow they were slow. And to boot the "Marshall" on the course told us they were on "schedule" We talked to him 3 or 4 times and the last time he just drove past us because he didn't want to deal with it, they must have been members, LOL, The starter also told us the city tripled the water rates and they are negotiating, but in the meantime the fairways have been allowed to brown out and go dormant, everything runs forever, the greens were hard and fast, bunkers were hit and miss, some good sand and others dirt. Here again you ask yourself $45 for this or $35 at Los Serranos for much better conditions. Just really looking at value.

Agree with previous reviews. But would be a bit more critical. Coarse is generally dormant and dry - rough, totally so; fairways mainly brown but with about 30% green stuff scattered in. Likely you will be hitting off brown dormant bermuda on your approaches. Hope you like nipping it. Tees fine but you don't spend much time there. Sand I did not visit but it had been groomed. Greens were a perplexing mix of fast with 'bumpy'. Not ideal. There is still a visible waffle pattern on most surfaces from recent punching and it shows in the putts which bobble as soon as they leave the blade. Love the course but it's more than a little ragged around the edges. 5.5 rating overall (says he guessing the outcome of this review as it shapes up to the fiendish gk algorithm) - (close: 5.1)

The course - Tee boxes were OK not too many divots, fairways were green and brown as the grass is going dormant, and I'm sure the cold nights don't help. Got some long rolls on drives, fairway shots were off thin brown spots. As mentioned before the greenside bunkers were a couple inches of sand and hard underneath. Greens were fast and smooth.

Agree with the prior review by Sammy3, greens rolled fairly well, but there were a few which had some residual signs of the recent punching. Fairways were a mix of green grass, brown areas and some bare spots. Same with the greenside bunkers; some had lots of sand, some were very thin? But I like the course, so I suspect that clouds my judgment. Enjoyed the round, with great weather and no pace of play issues

Got out this morning and the course is in good shape. Greens were fast and smooth and consistent once again from hole to hole. Fairways look dead but just dormant grass and ball sat up good and you got some good roll out. Rough is hit and miss due to winter coming around. Fairway bunkers are hard but nice to hit out of and the greenside bunkers had a 3-4 inch layer of sand which makes it nice to get out of.

This is an awesome course. The conditions aren't the best right now though. The fairways are bad right now. Very little green and lots of patches and brown spots. The bunkers are bad and need at least 5 times as much sand. Every bunker shot you will bounce on the rock hard bottom below the thin mirage of sand on top. Aside from the bad bunkers and brown grass the rest is great. Great level tee boxes. The greens were good but were still lumpy and bouncing from a recent punch.

This course is a special layout and quite a challenge. You have to be able to make shots here. The par 3s here are tough. The grass was uneven around the greens but very lush and green.

I'm reviewing this course harder because it's a superior layout and design them most courses. I'm not sure if it was intended but the final two holes are similar replicas to two famous holes. 17th is almost exactly the same as Torrey Pines iconic #3 (Except it has a hill to the right vs dropping down like Torrey) 18 is the same design as Pete Dyes famous no 5 at PGA West Stadium. It's a unique design with water left then water right with scenic shots over reeds make for one of my favorite finishing 18s anywhere.

They do need to warn where the no drive zones are in the carts because we had lots of stranded slow reverses of death were obnoxious.

I was spraying today and this courses chewed me up and spit me out today. Had a great time and can't wait to come back and play better when conditions are more lush.
