Havent been here for awhile,, we will change that. This place is really fun. Greens are almost perfect, hold shots, putts need to be right on or ya miss. Smooth and sorta fast. Everything else is very nice. Once you forget the dirt surroundings outside the fairways and rough ya have a straightaway tough, fun track. The ladies in the snack shop are wonderful, food and drinkies are priced right and front desk folks are happy to see you. A nice day. We will return soon.

Played @ 7 am Sunday morn. good driving range & practice putting green was immaculate. Greens on course were very good as usual for this track. Fairways were nice & lush as well. It was hot but we saw the bev cart girl twice so that helped. It was a very enjoyable round & i'll be back soon.

Despite a tornado and torrential rains in the area the day before, and despite cold blustery conditions as we played, it was a good experience!!
Little or no standing water in traps or fairways and I felt the condition of the course was excellent, especially as always, the greens. Tough to play in a strong 2-club wind and drizzle but told myself this was how it usually is in Europe - and dealt with it.

My buddies & I have played here many times over the last 10 years and always it is a very good value. A fun layout thats not very long and is in fine condition right now. We played on fri. the 2nd (after 3pm)and walked right on for $19 (w/cart). The greens are a bit slow and bumpy but roll true. Very few ball marks. The fairways are always thick and not clumpy. Good roll on your drives. The wind does come up in the afternoon and makes a couple of holes tougher (# 9 comes to mind). Good staff and a great practice area.

Have played "The Old Course" regularly for years - but I have been away for at least eight to ten months. I was disappointed to see that the course was just not as crisp as it usually is. It has been a solid course for the money- nothing spectacular design wise- but well kept for the green fee. This morning we found the fairways patchy with different types or lengths of grass, as if there had been no overseeding. The greens were bumpy and had either not been cut, or at least not rolled recently. The rough was not longer grass- more weedy or non-existent- fairway gives way to dirt in some areas. The course was fun and playable.. but for the $47 weekend morning rate... there are several other nearby courses that offer alot more for a little extra money.

You can't beat a quality course for a pretty cheap price. And General Old is just that. Always enjoy playing this course when I'm in town. A course with its own share of challenges that still is playa... Continue »

General Old is the my house, so I have played it alot. All in all, a very good course for the green fee. It can get slow on the weekends, but what course doesn't? The FW's are always good and the greens are always in good shape.

The green fees during the week are very reasonable, especially twilight and super twilight rates. For hwat they charge, this is a great course. No spectacular, breath taking or unusual holes, just a basic, solid course.

The fairways and greens were in fine condition. This course is easily one of the best in Southern California. I was disappointed, however, to find that a couple of the igloo coolers that provided drinking water were dry (it was a warm day) and by the lack of refreshment cart service. Pace of play was slow, mostly due to the usual problem of inept golfers taking too much time around the greens. One note: course policy does not allow waving up the following group on par-3s, according to a marshall.

While the General has lost it's old glory-half dead fairways no rough to speak about-Top Hats growing in-very uneven tee boxes. the greens are outstanding for this time of year!! That makes it well worth the green fee, and the family feel of the staff are great! But how you rate this a 7+ is beyond me c'mon it's a muni!!
