I played in the second GK Review Guru group yesterday, teeing off around 1:20 with kevbig, MrKich and chevelle. Good times! Weather was mostly cloudy, bright overcast skies and a pretty good breeze blowing most all day. Curiously, it seemed to be a crosswind on nearly every hole; very rarely helping or hurting much. POP was ideal at 3:50. Really appreciated the course delivering pin sheets to us when we realized the pins weren't set according to the customary 1-2-3-4 green segments.

Conditions are tip-top right now! The greens are smooth and medium-fast to fast. They are very accepting of short irons (I spun back a couple wedge shots) but longer clubs took a bounce or two before stopping. About medium firmness, which I think fits this layout well. The fairways were lush with great coverage, providing perfect lies all day. The rough was also very lush and well maintained. For the most part, balls sat up on top and it wasn't too penal. Tee boxes were excellent. As others have mentioned, the bunkers are the lone weak spot right now. I was in two, and both felt like they could use some more sand or a deep raking. They did have a thin layer of soft sand on top, but just underneath the surface seemed too firm. I rated everything a 9 except the bunkers.

My appreciation for this course grows with each visit I make. Looking forward to getting out there again soon!

Played with the Gurus today and it was like a country club out there. No one around us except for some annoying foursome behind us (j/k). Pro shop was great, checked in and got my range token and they said we could basically go anytime we had our foursome ready.

Fairways are really great to hit from. I don't recall seeing much in the way of divot damage. They were mowed nice and provided good rolls. I hit 11/13 of these fairways and it was a shame I could not capitalize more on this.

Don't even ask me about the greens. I give up, I cannot read these to save my life. I thought the greens didn't look fast but they roll more than you think. There were a few bumps but generally everything rolled pretty darn well. Most greens are not as firm when I played here last time but still releases a bit.

Wasn't in any bunker so the others will have a chime in on those.

Tee boxes were great. 15 and 17 were way back too, brutal. Maybe some of the par 3 had some divots but there was ample spots to tee up.

Absolutely love this course and I think it's a solid test of golf. I think it plays harder than the rating especially when that wind kicks up. If I lived closer this would be my home course and as long as Johnny lines up these outings here I will make the trip from SD.

Decided to hop in on the Guru fun at the last minute today and boy am I glad I did! The Goose is simply awesome right now, minus a couple of bunkers. There was a SCGA qualifier finishing up before we got started and the course was in fantastic overall shape. Tees- Lush and level with minimal damage. Fairways- Green, lush, cut tight and rolling out well while still providing ample cushion underneath. Great lies all day long. Rough- Lush and thick but mostly manageable and not too penal. Bunkers- Only downside today. Greenside #3 had great soft sand. Was in 3 others, all fairway and 2 out of the 3 had many dime sized rocks in them. Not to Goose's standards Greens- Slightly firm but held well struck shots. Rolling at med/fast speeds. Mostly smooth with some later afternoon Poa wobbles. But nothing major. Really good overall. Customer service was spot on in the shop. Sign near starter shack said pin position 3 but we soon found out that wasn't the case today due to the SCGA qualifier. I called the pro shop on 5 tee asking if they had pin sheets available and by the time we were putting out on 5 green, we had the sheets in our cart. Awesome! Speaking of which, some of those pins were brutal today. A couple paces from the edges or tucked in corners or right behind a trap! POP was 3:50 and the only other people we saw on the course was the first group of gurus in front of us. Highly recommended as always! Thanks Johnny!

Played Goose Creek Whites Sunday May 7th, tee time 7:33. Got out on time behind a riding 4 some, who was behind another riding 4 some, so we did wait on holes most of the day. One of our guys did not show up because of the so called rain, I guess he was afraid he was going to shrink, so we had only 3 walking. LOL Great course to walk..... POP was 4:25, ok for a Sunday but long for us walking this course. Course was in great shape, very green. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were really nice. I was in one bunker on #9 and the sand was wet from a small shower at 7:15, right before we teed off and I don't like hard wet sand, LOL other than that I was able to stay away from the bunkers. Course was a little wet so there was next to no roll out, so shots played a little longer. I played well except for 2 holes, was 13 over (85) and 6 of that was on 2 holes (triples) so was very happy. I am getting to go back this coming Tuesday with the GK Gurus so I am excited to play Goose again

The Mrs. and I wanted to play in Palm Springs on Saturday, 5/6 before the GK event at PGA West on Sunday, but the forecast called for 20-25 mph sustained winds on Saturday. Not wanting to subject ourselves to that, at the recommendation of Nickesquire, we chose to stop and play Goose Creek on our way out. All I have to say is "thanks, Nick!" We couldn't have been happier with the choice we made. We went out as a twosome, and thhe weather was perfect...around 64 degrees and a 5 mph wind. POP was a leisurely 4:10. An interesting fact I learned from the starter just before we tee'd off: the superintendent is one of the investors in the course. Hence the reason the conditions are so good!

We walked, as it is a very walkable parkland style course. The conditions were spectacular. Tee boxes were all level and lush. The fairways were like carpet. There were some unfilled divots, but I did my best to use as much sand/seed mix as I could throughout the round. The greens were fabulous, running around 10.5 on the stimp and smoooooooth. I drained many a putt that day, and there wasn't a bounce or bobble to be seen. They were receptive of any good shot that came into them. The rough was cut down to about 1 1/2 inches and was very lush and playable. My only complaint on conditions was the sand. It's more dirt than sand. I found it difficult to really blast out from under the ball around the greens. I don't mind firmer fairway bunkers, but around the greens they need to be softer.

The course was very peaceful, and it reminded me of Olivas Links...another course I love. We had a quick bite in the restaurant after the round, and the food was good. Service from everyone we met was impeccable. They were all very friendly and helpful. They host a ton of qualifying events for various tours, and with good reason. The entire facility is designed with golf as the main attraction, and we will DEFINITELY be heading back to Goose Creek very soon.

First, I have to say I like this course. It's forgiving enough I shot my lowest score here. Second, I'm a hacker with a 20 index.
Having said that I won't be back. The marshal harassed our group twice in our round today for not keeping up. Our foursome was me, two high index women and a 10 index friend of mine. We finished in 4 and 1/2 hours and were rarely pushed by the group behind us. When I told the pro shop that we'd been told twice to play faster, they they said their target was 4 hours, sorry. I'm sorry, we played ready golf and picked up any putt inside of a foot and a half. If that isn't fast enough, too bad. We didn't waste time and played as fast as we could with our skill level. I guess I'm not good enough to play this course.
They've lost a customer and I'll spend my $80 somewhere else. If you've got a high handicap, I suggest you do the same unless you enjoy getting pushed by the marshals.

I'm the last one to get their review in from yesterday's Guru outing with Gary, Allen and Steve, couldn't ask for better company. Like the others have said we were the second group out after the SCGA qualifier and man did we fly around the course. We were definitely under 4 hours.

As far as conditions the greens were deceptively fast. I thought generally they were smooth but I did have one go offline due to the foot traffic from the tournament. Pins were brutal. That pin on 18 was nasty, back and right up against the water.

Fairways were fantastic. You can really hit a nice crisp shot off of these fairways and provided some nice roll for drives.

The blue tees were normal. I didn't think they were punishing us too bad but they did have some of the whites back from what I expected. Tee boxes were nice and level and I didn't notice that many significant divots (even on the par 3s).

I didn't particularly like the quality of the sand. Generally consistent throughout the course but I did hit a thin spot on the first hole and bladed it over the green.

This is the one course that I will take off during the week to play and with the price we got on this it is a no brainer. From the practice facility to the employees working here everything is top notch. If I lived any closer I would be playing it all the time. Besides I figure I got to get the better of 18 one of these days.

Played 3-14-17 with the GK Guru round. The course is in excellent shape. It's a little drier than I expected but it made the course play fast and even throughout. The greens were quick and challenging and another case where I would love to see courses post the green speed as I think it would make it easier to adjust. They were in my opinion very fast. Not the fastest greens I've played but pretty close. Tee boxes were perfect! First bunker I was in was pretty fluffy but most were soft on top but hard underneath. The course just has a nice flow to it and makes the round a real pleasure. 18 is just such a tough finishing hole. Noticed there were not geese or coots this time either. Right time of year to get in a round!
