Played 4/6/05, The Goose is looking good. The greens were punched, but us golfers know that's going to happen year in and year out. Tee boxes, fairways all in good shape, Customer service A+. Well worth the value and will return often.

Enjoyable round on Wednesday, 3/16/05. I think The Goose is still digging-out from the staorm damage. Still needs work. Overall, a great recovery....some holes have fairway damage, but - not so it comes into play (much). The greens were another story. Lumpy and inconsistent. Frustrating! Need a good springtime aeration and a good rolling when they're done!! Fairways are not a lush as they have been in the past. maybe that's because they were all covered-up with sand and sludge from the Santa Ana River! Still one of the best walker's courses around!

Fairway that was washed away could not tell anything happened. Hole that cartpath was washed away is costly because that is where my ball went. Have done an excellent job of fixing any and all flood damage, except for that freaking cartpath that's no longer there.
I was the only one in my group to go there, so it must have been me. Smell is still bad but the flies were in check that day. What do you expect, it's right next to a thousand cows.

Played this course for the first time Sat, March 12th, and from what I could tell, it is close to perfect shape. Only 1 or 2 fairways were very minimally affected. The layout is very impressive. It's actually a pretty hard course. All of the par 3's are 175-220. A couple of really long par 4 holes over 450. And not downhill. The 18th hole is one of the toughest finishing hole around. A 440+ yd par 4 dogleg right, with water all along the right side, fronting the right side of the green. And the pin was tucked back right. That's the other thing... the pins seemed like they were Sunday pin placements on the PGA tour. Either 2 paces off the green, or right on a mound or hill. Greens were slow, but it's hard to be aggressive when you are putting towards a false front or tier. Very quality course, will be back, but not too often... only when i'm feeling brave.

Played Friday the 25th. After 8 inches of rain in 6 days, the course was in very nice shape. Fairways were in good shape. They were just starting to mow them. Rough was, well, rough. Pretty thick, but not punishing. Most of the white tees were moved up, at times on the reds. Tee boxes were mushy, but what would you expect? The greens are a mystery. They are bumpier than the road leading into the course. Sometimes your ball would be right on line, then hop an inch or more into the air. No pebbles or rocks on greens. They need to be cut and mowed. You could see the little white blooms on the poa ana. Easy course to walk. Lots of variety. The work being done: Left side of #3 fairway is all ripped up; a bulldozer is parked in the middle of it. Middle of #8 fairway is ripped up, too. Rehabing the drainage system. Half of the fairway on 12 is GONE! Which makes it a more difficult hole than it already was. But, none of these projects really affected play and I'd still commend management for having the course in the condition it was considering the pounding it had to have taken. But, I'd implore them to concentrate on getting those greens smooth.

Pace of play, I think always depends on the group ahead of us. Yes. I had one very slow.I realize This saeson's heavy rain affected directly to the some part of this course. Lamentable.

course took a beating from all of the rain. plenty of damage affecting play, but they are working very hard to get course back in shape. probably will be a few months. had a good time though.
