12/17 needing to use the Costco voucher before the end of the year(had 12 months and went down to the wire) cool but pleasant am and fairly busy--starter paired us with a 2some that was just going to the tee so we got out early ahead of 2-3 4somes behind us--still a 430 POP which would have been worse if not for the kindness of the starter.
For the most part the fairways were lush but had many overly wet areas so we did lift clean and place as needed. Found 3 plugged balls that entered the Bermuda triangle of golf where a ball just disappears in the fairway. Lot of huge unfilled divots from the soft conditions. Rough is patchy and inconsistent with some real thick areas mostly on the slopes which adds to the challenge when the ball is 6-12 inches above your feet.
Tee boxes still recovering from plugging and over seeding.
Bunkers around the greens were recently groomed still on the wet side but mostly playable.
HV top dresses the greens 2 times a month with no set schedule nor advance notice nor much in the way of an apology--rather saying that the ball will roll more smoothly with the sand present--NOT my playing experience. Early on the sand is wet and sticky so a putt of any length picks up sand--the longer the putt the heavier the coating--and the breaks are even harder to read even with the help of the tracks that have been left from prior attempts.
So if you don't call you have a 1 in 15 chance of sandgedon. I played back in Nebraska 50+ years ago and many courses had sand "greens" where you had a heavy rake with a round side that you used to make a flat path from the furthest ball to the hole and every one moved their ball to the path then you raked with the tine side after every one putted out. OK it wasn't that bad but it took me way back.

12/12 out at 730 with no one insight for a POP of 345 slowed only by our own ineptitude causing the wayward ball. Tee boxes are a current work in progress with deep plugging "composting" and overseeding and ample watering resulting in less than ideal but playable condition.
Fairways have drained quite well have full cover with good lies but are on the soft side restricting roll. Rough is also lush cut to about 2 inches and fairly juicy.
Bunkers are wet with a few still having standing water and all in need of grooming. Fortunately due to "skill" and good luck only found one bunker-fairway #3 and the flat firm wet sand provided an excellent lie that was the foundation for my shot on the green 6 feet above the pin with then a 4 footer coming back up the slope that still broke a good 4 inches..Yes that was a 3 putt.
That was the preview of the greens. a little bumpy/grainy which seemed to enhance the break as the ball slowed. Greens were soft with many unfixed or marginally so ball marks. Speed was medium to medium fast. Most greens are fairly large with contours and slope plus having to factor in the overall topography.
Staff is friendly and casual. Carts have informative/interactive GPS.

11/5 POP 4 1/2 following a deliberate 3 some that was part of a 9 man outing which pretty much fell 2 holes behind by the end of the round--a little frustrating waiting most shots but it was a really nice day and quite scenic. Everything is green. Fairways are very green but soft and cut rather long with some areas that were quite wet--no roll out to speak of. Rough is longish and juicy penal both for stopping the ball and challenging for the next shot. Tees pretty much on the good side level and with ample cover. Some were recently plugged but not an issue for play just not a good visual with the extracted plugs lying around. Fortunately did not get in any green side bunkers which looked like groomed mud. Found 1 fairway bunker which was packed wet hard pan and was actually playable. Greens look good and healthy but on closer inspection were very recently verticut and are rather soft leading to some bumpiness very challenging on the 3-4 footers especially down hill. Speed medium. Did not get to use the practice green as it was also cut but not swept so the were grass clippings every where. Layout provides lot of variety with elevation changes forced carries large sloped tiered greens with potential for diabolical pin placements--and by the way downhill up hill and side hill lies for good measure. Friendly staff. Rating came out on the low side 6.5 seems mor fair

Early morning four hour round. This was my first time here and really enjoyed the course and facility. The pro shop is nothing to rave about or the small driving range. The course itself is probably the hilliest I've played since the now closed nearby Champions Retreat. I don't believe there is one flat hole on the entire course. There are many forced carries and numerous blind shot from the tees and fairways. Many of the tee boxes had very recently been plugged and dressed ( it would have been nice to have had the plugs cleared off the boxes) and many were not very level. There were a few tee boxes pretty well beat up but most have been filled with mix at least. The fairways had very good coverage with a few soggy places during the trip around. The kikuyu seems to be the predominate grass found on most of this course. Many shots found the soggy spots and plugged or were covered with mud. The rough was very thick kikuyu in most places and swallowed balls on occasion. The bunker sand was acceptable but many of the traps were either wet or puddled. The few I found required you to move your ball to be able to hit from them. Most traps also needed severe attention around the edges. The green held shot well and were pretty quick on the front with unseen breaks on almost every putt. The greens on the back nine had been watered more and were slower. All of the greens had great coverage but all were extremely bumpy on every putt. The layout and views from this course were great, especially on a clear day. The rates are about right for what you get and Costco makes it a deal compared to others nearby. I definitely recommend a drive up the windy road to play here!

Played Fri Oct 26th at 656, got out on time, first group out. This is not one of my favorite golf courses. The new carts have speed control and it is set way to slow, dam lawyers. It is also set for "more" cart path only holes, like number 9, come on please, ridiculous. This course is in the hills and has very sloping fairways and greens and some very narrow fairways. Many cases the pins are set in ridiculously sloping positions on the green. Tee boxes and fairways were ok, bunkers were a joke, should have played all bunkers as ground under repair. POP was 410, and since we were first out, that is all our fault. Didn't eat lunch as IMHO way too expensive.

Just wanted to report back that the greens have fully healed from recent aeration.

Played Saturday the 13th, in the rain but it wasn't pouring.

Tee boxes were good, there was some thin areas, but I had no problem finding a good patch to tee off from. Fairways were very nice. I didn't see any noticeable bald or brown spots. Rough wasn't too tall and was consistent. Bunkers were all wet from the rain, but had plenty of sand in them. Greens were very very nice. No sign of aeration and was rolling nicely even after a heavy night of rain and being wet. Better than most courses on a good day.

Go play.

9/26 using costco $30 voucher POP 415 no waiting and not being chased just spent some time hoping to locate and somehow play the errant shots. Thought I got some of my game back but HV had other plans for me. Conditions overall were pretty good. Fairways were lush and rather soft so not much roll out. Good lies but often not a level stance as the course could easily be named Hills and Valleys. Rough borders all the fairways--not too long but impedes forward progress and can be grabby to hit from. Plus the side hills really come into play if you venture from fairway proper. Tees level with mostly good cover. Par 3s generally showed more wear but were playable. Bunkers were mostly groomed but many were thin as well as excessively wet . Greens looked good and healthy rolling about medium speed with more grain and occasional bumpiness to factor in. Greens also have considerable slope and contour as well as the continuing theme of often being cut into the hill side requiring advanced reading skills. (tough for me being stuck in the remedial classes) Friendly staff and easy check in. Newer carts with good GPS.

First off at 6:06am. Just light enough to see. Obviously being off first, no issues with pace of play. The first thing I noticed was how wet the course was, particularly many of the greenside bunkers which were in many cases, half full of water, and the remainder of the sand almost like mud or where the sand was thin, rock hard. Fairways were green and lush, with numerous roped off areas where they had apparently over watered? The rough in spots was like U S Open rough, while in other spots at least reasonable. Very easy to lose a ball in the heavy rough.

Staff was great, very accommodating. For the first time ever I played the blue tees, rather than the blacks. On most of the holes I did not find the course too different, but on holes #2, #5, #9, & #17, it made a world of difference for this senior golfer. (I could now actually reach the greens in regulation !)

Enjoyed my round here. Course is always a challenge, and has a number of really fun holes and the great views are an added bonus

Played today 6/30. Haven't played here in over 4 months, was greeted by friendly staff and starter. This course can be punishing due to the elevation of some holes and blindshots. Course was wet due to being irrigated to make sure that it did not dry out in the heat. Greens were slow due to water and in need of being cut lower. Some greens in the back nine had small aeration holes with sand. They are letting the grass grow in the rough, so it was about 4" thick and if you hit it in the rough good luck finding your ball. The sand traps did not have sand or was muddy due to the irrigation. We played it as a free drop. POP was 4.5 hours. Still a good course for the value.
