Played with my golf buddy on 10/10/15 at 7 am on a $33 GolfNow deal including a hot dog. The best part of the day was the hot dog. I expected a 7-Eleven like pre-heated hot dog but they grill it fresh.

This is another budget course in Riverside, CA very close to Indian Hills. It must be something with budget courses. People don't seem to care. Not fixing ball marks on the green, not filling divots with divot mix, and dragging their feet on the greens. They should invest in some signs on the first hole telling people what to do and what not to do.

Tee Boxes - The tee boxes on every hole were pretty chewed up. Some weren't level and on most holes, I teed off a few feet behind to find a decent patch of grass.

Fairways - The fairways were in a very bad shape with a lot of hard pan areas.

Rough - The grass in the rough are quite tall. In most cases, I couldn't see my ball above the grass. Also, there are a lot of trees and our group seemed to hit into every one of them.

Greens - I have played here little less than a year ago and I remembered the greens to be best part of this course. It has definitely changed for the worse. Greens were slow and quite a few must have been infested with something because they tore up small patches and filled with sand. Some greens had two different shades of green. Unfixed ball marks were all over.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this course regardless of the fee.

Played July 24th at 7:38 from the blues. Was disappointed about the rain damage to the snack bar, but did get a Tuna sandwich for breakfast. POP was 4:30 not real good. We were 2nd out with 6 groups ... Continue »

Played July 24th at 7:38 from the blues. Was disappointed about the rain damage to the snack bar, but did get a Tuna sandwich for breakfast. POP was 4:30 not real good. We were 2nd out with 6 groups in our group and the first group is notorious for being slow. On top of that the course put a 5 some in front of us. The course was in real good shape, tee boxes, fairways, and greens were nice. The rough was really long and penal. Had a real hard time even finding the ball in the rough. Was not in any traps. Got to #18 (par 3) and all I needed was a par to shot my best round ever (84), well I plunked 2 in the water and took a 7 for 88. I chocked, but at least I was under 90. I like this course.

Wanted to play somewhere early so I could get home to watch the U.S. Open and landed on a $33 GolfNow rate at 7:45 at Jurupa that included a hot dog and chips. Course is in very nice condition! POP was sort of disappointing for an early Saturday morning, a little over 4:45.

The greens are very, very nice right now. Extremely smooth, medium fast speed and really lush and healthy. Well-struck shots stop very quickly, and I even had one back up a lot. Grass on the tee boxes was all in good shape, although one or two might be a little lumpy and/or slanted. The fairways were mostly good and so was the rough. I was only in one bunker early in my round and it was good, although a bit wet in the morning.

As an added bonus, the hot dog here is excellent! They butterfly it and butter and grill the bun, making this $33 deal a steal for a Saturday morning. The only real complaint I have is that there is not sufficient drinking water out on the course. Between holes 10-16, I only saw one drinking fountain and it was broken. Riverside County on a hot day demands some water jugs out there!

POP was ok at 4:30 Tee boxes were good and level, fairways were really nice, was not in any bunkers so no comment there. 1st green was real nice but slow compared to Rams Hill and Goose Creek last week. Then on hole 2 we ran into some punching and sand. This happened on about 6 hole through out the course, Was very disappointed on those. Over all I like this old style course and shot well except for 3 holes.

As I become a bit "long in the tooth" I can better appreciate these old style traditional golf courses. They take me back to my beginnings as a golfer. Basic, no frills golf ! While I only play here ... Continue »

As I become a bit "long in the tooth" I can better appreciate these old style traditional golf courses. They take me back to my beginnings as a golfer. Basic, no frills golf ! While I only play here perhaps once a year, I always enjoy my visit because of the park-like atmosphere of the course, coupled with some of the more unique green designs I have ever experienced. The "fingers" of these greens, coupled with their contours make for a very interesting putting experience. The overall conditioning of the course is quite decent and considering the cost ( $42 for two players w/cart) is a deal. It's just nice to play an old style down to earth course which doesn't ask any more of you than to just play decent shots and enjoy the results !

Arrived at the course approximately 10:30 or so Super Bowl Sunday with a $25 deal caddy voucher. Clubhouse is small but does not lack the essentials; plenty golf accessories and kitchen resembling a small diner. I wish I could comment on the food, but rarely do I show up to a course hungry, lol. I immediately notice that there are 3 foursomes lined up at first tee, ugh! Starter/cashier/attendant tells me no openings till about 11:30 or so,ugh! So I buy a small bucket of balls and head to the grass only range, no stalls, just pick a nice spot. Kind of an old school feel to the place, which I can appreciate.
Now to the course. Tee boxes were level although a bit thin on a few holes. Not much of an issue, really.
Fairways were fairly lush for winter conditions. I did see a few divots, but never landed in any(you have to hit fairways for that to happen,lol). The rough wasn't overly penal, just thick and tall enough, about an inch and a half, balls easily found and shots significantly shortened. I did on one or two occasions hit off hardpan amongst the trees, areas I shouldn't have been in anyway, which enlightened me to the precise allocation of water on the course. Kudos to the grounds crew!
Hazards: hallelujah! I escaped a round without having to hit out of one. Bunkers for me are like "the elephant in the room", I ignore them and act as if they don't exist until they rise up and confront me and I have no choice in the matter,lol. So, sorry no assessment.
Greens were firm, held shots well. A bit fast, probably a 10 I'd guess, but very smooth, maybe seen two putts in my threesome that didn't hold their line due to bumpiness. Very few level putting opportunities on this course, plenty of undulation. Size and shaping of greens lend to the versatility of pin placement, which combined with undulations make approach shots critical.
Teed off as single behind stacked up foursomes, relaxed, played slow accepting my lot in this situation without getting frustrated until the ninth hole when Ravi and Andy caught me and we finished together. After all that, I still managed to finish right about 4 1/2 hours!
The rack rate for this course is $47, which IMO is more than fair. What I like most about this course is the idea that the conditions are always above average with a greens fee of less than 50 bucks. Go play!

Played this morning in an 8:00 shotgun tournament.

I've seen it in better shape. Greens are still very good and the highlight of the course BY FAR. Fairways were pretty ratty with a lot of thin and/or muddy-silty lies. Tee boxes looked pretty rough and the par 3s were very chewed up. Rough was hit and miss. There were patches of pretty good kikuyu, but also some rye patches that were a lot less nice. Wasn't in a bunker so can't comment there. Service was just okay as we had at least two groups (a single and a twosome) get into the middle of our shotgun as our tournament made the turn to #1. That was baffling. Turned a possible 4 hour round into a nearly 5 hour round.
