It was a super fun day at Bear Creek Golf Club last Monday 7/21. I love having outings here. They have enough carts for max 80 players, which is a great fit for excellent pace of play on this very challenging Nicklaus Sr. Signature design. It was my first event with the Vivid Golf tent and having a Skill Challenge contest. The large well organized event staging area was ideal. We were able to pitch our tent center of the practice sand/pitching, grass driving range and large practice putting green. Golf carts were lined up in front of the range plus the clubhouse conveniently located. The snack bar is detached from the clubhouse but it’s a short walk to it from the staging area. Worked out fantastic.

Overall, despite the fairways about halfway through their winter-spring to summer-fall turf transition, playing conditions were great. The greens were smooth, medium fast and firm. Fairways firm with tight yet full coverage. The rough was very tame for The Bear but if temps go up it should become thick and unbearable in no time. LOL. The bunkers had typically soft quality sand greenside and mostly firm quality sand adjacent to the fairways. Tee boxes were all in very good shape. Level, lush, tight and fun to play from.

Mid morning five hour round on a cool cloudy Thursday. The staff and practice facilities are great. The carts are large and comfortable and also in nice condition. The tee boxes are all level with total coverage and well kept. There are many boxes to choose from which is good for all skill levels. The rough was in perfect shape and just thick enough to slow down your shots before they disappeared. You could put a good swing on it from the rough which was nice. The fairways were probably the best conditioned of any course I've played in many years. The lies were perfect, the grass was lush and green cut at the perfect length. The marshal said to not be concerned with divots as the grounds crew filled all of them during the last two hours of their shift. I asked if they were hiring! The deep sand traps had plenty of well prepped white fluffy sand that was really great to swing from. The large greens were the best with plenty of roll total coverage with no ball marks and extremely quick. The pin placements made attacking them not in the best interest for scoring. Well struck shots would hold but if you came in low you found yourself off the back quickly. The layout and setting of this place with top notch course conditions make it a pleasure to play.

Another great time at Bear Creek Golf Club on January 27th. Played with GDR23, barkydog and friend Brian from Vivid Golf/Golf Moose.

We lucked out with our location and weather in that the majority of SoCal was trenched the night before but Murrieta, although cold and damp, presented us a rain free day and beautiful golf course. I’ve played Bear Creek Golf Club now 5 times with this being the first time the fairways were overseeded for the winter. I enjoyed playing the dormant (still full coverage) bermunda turf winter fairways but loved playing the overseeded fairways instead (its my understanding BCGC will be overseeding in coming years as well for the winter). Although the ball did not roll out as much now, making the course longer, the ball sat up better. Best of all, it was the first time seeing the course with the dormant rough defining the overseeded fairways. Check out the photos I posted!

The greens were fast, smooth and loaded with tournament pin locations. ONE DAY I will have good putting round at The Bear, Monday was NOT the day. Wow, were those greens tough to read BUT A BLAST to play.

The bunkers were gorgeous. White, well maintained, perfect consistent medium/solf texture from hole to hole (can you tell I'm a bogey golfer/bunker connoisseur).

Its a pleasure running outings at Bear Creek GC. The staging area for 80 players max shotgun events keeps all your players nearby. The driving range (grass), practice putting, practice sand/pitching and clubhouse make it easy for our players to enjoy the experience. The Bear Creek GC staff are great to work with from reserving your event to the day of play and follow up.

Rode the blues this morning 1/27/25 for the Golfmoose event with buddies John, Matt and joined by Bryan who was a pleasure to meet. I think our POP was around 5 hrs under cold damp 48 degree weather with at times maybe a one club wind. I enjoyed their grass driving range, seperate larger chipping and bunker area and massive putting green..should have spent more time there, lol!

First time here and really enjoyed the layout! For sure a second shot golf course where there is ample room to bomb drives but if your wedges or putting is off expect some challenges to some smaller raised green complexes. The course flowed extremely well with some doglegs, straight forward holes, some holes with force carries on the second shot but nothing tricked out or unfair about the layout. I loved hitting tee shots on this course! The beautiful homes lining the golf course really don't come into play. Jack designed some awesome strategically placed greenside and Fairway bunkers everywhere.

Greens were in good shape rolling medium to quick pace and holding irons very well. Boy did I have a hard time reading the undulations in the greens today. Many potato chip swales that made lag putting or just holing putts in general tough. Rated 8/10

Fairways were bright green and in good shape with a tighter firm base. Rated 8/10

Tees were mostly level with the usual divot damage on par 3s with the rest of the tees in good shape. Rated 7/10

The fairway rough was a dormant light brown color which visually contrasted beautifully with the emerald green Fairways. I felt the rough just outside the fairways to be easy to hit off but the greenside rough was very wet, muddy and very tough to chip off of. This is not the courses fault as it is winter and they did get some rain but would like to come back when there is grass in the grass bunkers and chipping areas and not muddy dirt. Rough rating 6/10

Was in 1 Fairway bunker and 1 greenside bunker that had the most beautiful white powder material and a pleasure to play out of. I wish all courses took a page out of Bear Creeks bunkers. Rated 8.5/10.

Highly recommend this course and would like to come back on a normal temperature day with the chipping areas in better shape.

First Time out here in probably 10+ years. I don't have a lot to add to the other reviews from a few weeks ago. That being said the greens were fast and had medium firmness. Tough pin locations all day made for adventures on the greens. Fairways looked like they were verticut but the ball sat up nicely all day. Sand Traps were firm and a bit difficult to play from. They just need to rototill them and they'll be fine.

I loved the layout which being a Jack course it plays well to my fade!. If you have an opportunity to play I would not pass it up. I hope to get out to the next Golf Moose/Gk outing here.

This was our fourth time having a Monday Private Course outing at Bear Creek Golf Club. As expected, the golf course was in excellent condition. Greens ran smooth, slower than normal due to summer heat, held shots, with challenging putts. Fairways and rough were a lush blend of bermuda/kikuyu turf. The rough was thankfully cut lower than previous rounds. Not much roll out there on a course that plays long to begin with…. choose your tee box wisely. The bunkers were in great shape, a little firm in places and well kept. All the tee boxes, (we played the gold/blue combo), we’re in good shape. The only blemish was some divot damage on the short Par 3 hole #6 (to be expected).

I love running outings at Bear Creek GC. The staging area for 80 players max shotgun events keeps all your players nearby. What a fun day it was at Bear Creek. Been here a few times and have always been quite satisfied with the experience of playing this course. Love the design of the course and the challenges of it presents. Despite the rather warm weather teetering in the 90s, many people came out to enjoy this Jack designed golf course.

Warm up area consist of grass driving range with ample supply of range balls to accommodate the players. There is also a short game practice area and a practice green with lots of room to putt. Carts are comfy and just wished they had GPS on them to make things more convenient.

No beverage /cart service today, which was desperately needed. But we were warned in advance and they did have the snack shop open. There were water stations around the course but some of them ran out of water.


Started on hole 1 and pace was pretty good. There was some waiting in between shots but overall not bad as we finished under 5 hours. And considering this is not an easy course, that is actually a good pace of play.

Conditions on the course is quite good. Tee boxes level and well maintained. Fairways were immaculate and greens were outstanding. Love the undulations and the challenge it presents. Medium fast and having your ball on the wrong side of the hole will put you in 3 putt territory. While I was in one of the bunkers which has sufficient sand in it, I did notice there were other bunker of different texture, almost white sand thaNo cart service today. Desperately needed them today but were warned in advance. There wet is rather bare and hard packed. Hole 18 is a great finishing hole. Presents different options off the tee and approach shots. Despite dropping one in the water - it is one of my favorite holes here.

Overall, a fun and memorable experience. Had a great time playing with Mark and Steve. I wish this course is closer to us and would certainly play this more often.

From 6/24/24 Enjoyed an excellent GK / Vivid Outing at the Bear. What a Great Day! Bear Creek GC as a fun Players Course. BCGC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features a clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and greens, and rough areas; there is well placed bunkering on all fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic trees and water hazards, all being punitive to wayward golf shots. The course is generally flat but does offer elevation changes from tee to fairway and green, on some holes, along with some great views of localized mountains and housing. The course plays like a true Championship Style layout. If you miss your mark, you will be punished. The course was very well manicured and in above-average condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Above average condition. Fairways: Green at times tight. Above average condition. Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium softness. Noted a bit longer and slower than in the past. Speed at about a 10.5. No damage observed. Excellent condition. Sand: Well maintained and medium to soft in texture. Above average condition. Rough: Well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Above average condition. Waste Areas: Observed on various holes and did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to the overgrown nature. Above average. Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting off a grass surface. Situated on a flat section of the facility and hitting into a grassland with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 275ish. Range balls were your typical rangers, generally in good condition Practice Putting Green: Ample and very well maintained. Surface speed was consistent with the the course greens. Chipping Green: Also ample and very well maintained. Several pins noted to work on the short-game, along with sand bunkering. POP: 4.75 hours – No wait was encountered on any hole. This track is Grade A. Its layout is spectacular, and the use of the topography and land could not be better. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on Player’s Type Golf Course, this is a great one to be a part of. Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be a club I would consider joining. I fully endorse playing this track when given the opportunity. Very much looking forward to my next visit here. Played in group 1A of today's GK/Vivid Golf sponsored outing here, paired with Steve, Ken, and Kendrick. Great times! We had short waits on almost every hole but overall POP wasn't bad for these events at just about 4:45. Hot day in Murrieta but about half the time we benefited from a nice breeze, which also factored into play. Water jugs every few holes but the one on 16 tee was empty by the time we reached it. Conditions are great! Greens are smooth, medium firmness, and medium-fast. Fairways were very nice; great coverage and good lies all day. Rough was also in good condition and most of it wasn't too deep nor penal, just a little fluffier. Blue tee boxes were all very nice. Sand traps were excellent and some of the best sand I can recall playing in recent memory. This was my first time here. It's a great course with more elevation changes than I expected. Also, the whole course, facility, and Bear Creek community as a whole are much nicer than I anticipated. Beautiful homes bordering the course but there's typically plenty of width to not feel like the houses encroach on the design at all. The green of the par-3 8th is quite severe with a big swale that captured three of our shots. Overall, it's an excellent course that would be a lot of fun to play regularly. Definitely recommended.
