Catching up on some reviews. Starting with Bear Creek Golf Club on Monday, June 24th.

This was our fourth time having a Monday Private Course outing at Bear Creek Golf Club. As expected, the golf course was in excellent condition. Greens ran smooth, slower than normal due to summer heat, held shots, with challenging putts. Fairways and rough were a lush blend of bermuda/kikuyu turf. The rough was thankfully cut lower than previous rounds. Not much roll out there on a course that plays long to begin with…. choose your tee box wisely. The bunkers were in great shape, a little firm in places and well kept. All the tee boxes, (we played the gold/blue combo), we’re in good shape. The only blemish was some divot damage on the short Par 3 hole #6 (to be expected).

I love running outings at Bear Creek GC. The staging area for 80 players max shotgun events keeps all your players nearby. The driving range (grass), practice putting, practice sand/pitching and clubhouse make it easy for our players to enjoy the experience. The Bear Creek GC staff is great to work with from reserving your event to the day of play, and follow up.

What a fun day it was at Bear Creek. Been here a few times and have always been quite satisfied with the experience of playing this course. Love the design of the course and the challenges of it presents. Despite the rather warm weather teetering in the 90s, many people came out to enjoy this Jack designed golf course.

Warm up area consist of grass driving range with ample supply of range balls to accommodate the players. There is also a short game practice area and a practice green with lots of room to putt. Carts are comfy and just wished they had GPS on them to make things more convenient.

No beverage /cart service today, which was desperately needed. But we were warned in advance and they did have the snack shop open. There were water stations around the course but some of them ran out of water.


Started on hole 1 and pace was pretty good. There was some waiting in between shots but overall not bad as we finished under 5 hours. And considering this is not an easy course, that is actually a good pace of play.

Conditions on the course is quite good. Tee boxes level and well maintained. Fairways were immaculate and greens were outstanding. Love the undulations and the challenge it presents. Medium fast and having your ball on the wrong side of the hole will put you in 3 putt territory. While I was in one of the bunkers which has sufficient sand in it, I did notice there were other bunker of different texture, almost white sand thaNo cart service today. Desperately needed them today but were warned in advance. There wet is rather bare and hard packed. Hole 18 is a great finishing hole. Presents different options off the tee and approach shots. Despite dropping one in the water - it is one of my favorite holes here.

Overall, a fun and memorable experience. Had a great time playing with Mark and Steve. I wish this course is closer to us and would certainly play this more often.

From 6/24/24 Enjoyed an excellent GK / Vivid Outing at the Bear. What a Great Day! Bear Creek GC as a fun Players Course. BCGC is a very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features a clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and greens, and rough areas; there is well placed bunkering on all fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic trees and water hazards, all being punitive to wayward golf shots. The course is generally flat but does offer elevation changes from tee to fairway and green, on some holes, along with some great views of localized mountains and housing. The course plays like a true Championship Style layout. If you miss your mark, you will be punished. The course was very well manicured and in above-average condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following: Tee Boxes: Level and lush, no damage. Above average condition. Fairways: Green at times tight. Above average condition. Greens: Green, medium-fast in speed, with medium softness. Noted a bit longer and slower than in the past. Speed at about a 10.5. No damage observed. Excellent condition. Sand: Well maintained and medium to soft in texture. Above average condition. Rough: Well defined from the fairway and green collars but not too overgrown, about 2 – 4 inches. Very grabby at times. Above average condition. Waste Areas: Observed on various holes and did not offer much opportunity of recovery due to the overgrown nature. Above average. Driving Range: The range is excellent, hitting off a grass surface. Situated on a flat section of the facility and hitting into a grassland with green markers at 100, 150, 200, 225, and 250 yards. Range ran out at about 275ish. Range balls were your typical rangers, generally in good condition Practice Putting Green: Ample and very well maintained. Surface speed was consistent with the the course greens. Chipping Green: Also ample and very well maintained. Several pins noted to work on the short-game, along with sand bunkering. POP: 4.75 hours – No wait was encountered on any hole. This track is Grade A. Its layout is spectacular, and the use of the topography and land could not be better. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on Player’s Type Golf Course, this is a great one to be a part of. Really enjoyed this course and certainly wish I could play it more often. If I lived closer, this would be a club I would consider joining. I fully endorse playing this track when given the opportunity. Very much looking forward to my next visit here. Played in group 1A of today's GK/Vivid Golf sponsored outing here, paired with Steve, Ken, and Kendrick. Great times! We had short waits on almost every hole but overall POP wasn't bad for these events at just about 4:45. Hot day in Murrieta but about half the time we benefited from a nice breeze, which also factored into play. Water jugs every few holes but the one on 16 tee was empty by the time we reached it. Conditions are great! Greens are smooth, medium firmness, and medium-fast. Fairways were very nice; great coverage and good lies all day. Rough was also in good condition and most of it wasn't too deep nor penal, just a little fluffier. Blue tee boxes were all very nice. Sand traps were excellent and some of the best sand I can recall playing in recent memory. This was my first time here. It's a great course with more elevation changes than I expected. Also, the whole course, facility, and Bear Creek community as a whole are much nicer than I anticipated. Beautiful homes bordering the course but there's typically plenty of width to not feel like the houses encroach on the design at all. The green of the par-3 8th is quite severe with a big swale that captured three of our shots. Overall, it's an excellent course that would be a lot of fun to play regularly. Definitely recommended.

Catching up on my June reviews and photos starting with a very fun round with rgm2525, sparky14 and Brian from Golf Moose at Bear Creek CC June 19th. This was our 3rd Golf Moose / GK Private Event at Bear Creek CC and by far the best playing conditions we’ve experienced. Prior visits always included smooth, fast, firm greens, and this visit was no different, but this time we also experienced lush/tight fairways, lush cut low (for Bear Creek) rough and improved bunkers. One of the bunkers in on hole 11 had sand so bright white it was hurting my eyes. On top of great conditions the weather was in the low 70’s, yep, about 20 degrees cooler than normal in Temecula. We picked a good time to be there for sure.

The more I play Bear Creek CC, the more I love this layout. It’s a very challenging yet fair track that takes a good amount of smart play to handle. There are “Bear Traps” all over the place. Bunkers you have to avoid off the tee, angles you cannot leave yourself on approach, short side spots around the greens that are near impossible to get up and down from … fun stuff.

If you get an opportunity to play Bear Creek, especially this year given the excellent playing conditions, go for it.

Also, the max amount of players Bear Creek CC can host for an outing without extra costs of renting more golf carts is 90 players. We keep them at 80 players for our GM/GK outings in case we need extra carts for singles. Super staff to work with.

Played in the GK/GM outing last week in a shotgun start, finishing in around 5 hours. Tee boxes were in really good shape, level, lush, and cut tight. Fairways were really nice, lush and green Bermuda with great lies, good roll out, and a very nice surface to hit from. Rough was in good condition, 1-2 inches longer than fairways and fairly easy to hit from. Bunkers were in good shape with a good layer of nice white sand. Greens were in really nice condition, playing semi-firm with a fast pace and rolling smooth. Over the years that I have gotten to play here I don't remember seeing the course in better shape.

Played Monday in the Golf Moose outing on a windy day. The staff is great and the practice facilities were nice and well maintained. The course was much improved compared to my last visit. Tee boxes all had great coverage and were level with very little damage. The rough on this challenging layout was long/thick enough to keep the ball in play and not too difficult to hit from. The bermuda fairways were near perfect with fantastic coverage and great lies. Well struck drives that found the fairways were rewarded with quite a bit of roll. The numerous traps at this course were all trimmed with mostly nice fairly compact white sand. Hitting from them was not difficult (I found a dozen) but roll out on the greens was brutal. The quick firm greens were almost perfect with hardly any ball marks and total coverage. The speed of these greens were probably the quickest I've played in ten years. Well struck shots would hold but usually with slight roll which had to be taken into account. The ocean winds picked up pretty much for the entire round which added to the difficulty of the course. The homes that were near the course were far enough off from play that even the hackers were safe. The entire facility is very well kept and the course is in fantastic shape. If you get a chance to play here jump on it!

Second time playing Bear Creek GC (7/25) and running a Golf Moose / Greenskeeper.org outing here. Great job by their staff having everything prepared and organized for us.

Played with rgm2525, mark_6m and sparky14. Golf course was in great shape and much better than when we played it in February. This is a summer turf course for sure as they don’t overseed. Greens in super shape, not as fast and smooth as our February outing but holding shots much better and still rolling well which enhanced their playability/enjoyment. Fairways lush, mostly green bermunda turf which was a pleasure to hit off. Bunkers all had quality sand and well groomed. Tee boxes lush, groomed and played real nice.

I’m a big fan of this layout. Check out the photos. Excellent challenging tee shots with attractive sight lines. Most tee shot and approach shots, as with all Nicklaus designs favor a left to right ball slight. However they can still be played with a draw which I love. Greens are all very well guarded by bunkers and lateral hazards. Once on the greens most have multiple tiers and severe undulations. Excellent green complex designs that reward strong approach shot play, short game and putting skills. Never a boring or dull moment playing this course.

Don’t miss an opportunity to play this exclusive club. Highly Recommended.

Enjoyed an excellent GK / GM Outing at the Bear. Jack really outdid himself with this one!


I can best describe Bear Creek GC as a fun Players Course. BCGC is a mature very well-designed course that places premium on accuracy off the tee and into greens. The course features a clear definition between its mid-sized fairways and greens, and rough areas; there is well placed bunkering on all fairways and proximate to greens, along with some strategic trees and water hazards, all being punitive to wayward golf shots, but still a treat for the eyes.


The course is generally flat but does offer elevation changes from tee to fairway and green, on many holes, along with some great views of localized mountains and housing. The course plays like a true Championship Style layout. If you miss your mark, you will be punished by Jack’s design. The course played its yardage for the most part, and I emphasize this is a Ball Striker’s Delight, without being a target layout in any way.


The course was very well manicured and in above-average condition. The course layout is rated a 5 out of 5, conditions are rated a 4.5 out of 5. I note the following:

POP: 4.75 hours – No wait was encountered on any hole. We were slowed down a bit due to the cart path only rule requirement of the day, which did not bother me.


This track truly is a masterpiece. Its layout is spectacular, and the use of the topography and land could not be better. If looking to join a quality golf club with the emphasis on Player’s Type Golf Course, this is a great one to be a part of.
