After playing at Eagle Glen for 2 years, our group moved over to Dos Lagos and played our 3rd round this week @ 6:30am today.
Although you can't compare DL with any of the nice resort courses, conditions here now are better than I've ever seen previously. When we played here previously, we were generally happy with the conditions but always complained of the "spongy" greens. For all 3 rounds this week, greens were smooth, soft and rolled true at medium speed. If they can keep this up during the summer, we certainly won't regret having signed up for the year.
The only playing issue we have is on hole #6, there's nothing to stop your ball from rolling back into the water on right if you can't hit the green in two. Since we don't have the length from the back tees, we just hit from the forward tees on that one.
Pace was an issue today. We did finish in 4 hours but had to wait on most shots. Seems if you start at 6, you can finish in 3 hours but later than that it's back to 4 hour rounds.
I'm told wearing a mask in clubhouse or on course is not mandatory now but we did keep ours on since the weather was pleasant. I'd certainly recommend playing Dl now.

Played this morning as a single walker at 540. Finished the round in 2. 5 hours so pace of play is not a problem. The course is playing really well in regards to fairways and greens. The fairways were lush and easy to hit from. There really is no rough on the course. Some of the tee boxes are a little chewed up but not as bad as it was before the closing. The greenskeeper is doing a wonderful job and the greens are running medium fast and true. Playing early there really are no divots on the greens. It was only medium because of the morning dew, but I could tell it is very fast in the afternoon. As a member of this course and someone that plays this course very frequently, I could see that they are trying to put in a lot of work to keep the conditions great for golfers. I wasnt in any bunkers so I cant comment on them, but I do know that is usually this courses weak point, but it looks like they added new sand in some of the bunkers. I love playing this course and being able to get out before the rest of the crowd makes this course even more enjoyable.

2nd off this AM and the first 2 out let us through, done in 2.5 H. Nice easy drive out and back this AM compared to previous trips. Check in was great and $30 + cart for Sr rate. Great customer service at all levels. Was not expecting so much fog. And it never burned off until we were done (and then not totally). Not really a factor, other than keeping everything damp. So while the fairways were nice and provided great lies, little if any rollout. Never found a bad tee box. Bunkers were all clean that early in the AM, so they were playable. Greens were in very nice shape, but a bit slow due to dampness. Rough was not deep and able to find your ball and advance it. Very enjoyable round and it was getting very busy as we left. Lot of maintenance in the OB and hillsides leaving lots of pollen in the air, for those with allergies.

Played Dos Lagos on Monday 4/27. Greens did have some signs of prior maintenance but were very playable. Fairways were good; not much rough to speak of; tees on most holes were good but woolly on a few; bunkers were dry and inconsistent. Pace of play was decent given that course was very full with round taking 4.5 hours. Checkin was done in pro shop with one-way entry and exit. Two players allowed in cart if they agreed otherwise one player per cart.

Had the opportunity to play Dos Lagos today. Jumped on their website as soon as I heard the courses in Riverside County were re-opening. Got lucky and was able to grab a tee time for a foursome. All tee times were booked for the next couple of days within several hours of announcement. Arrived several minutes before our tee time. Face Mask are required, single rider only per cart or same households can ride together. Tee times are spaced further apart. They were booked solid all the way to 6pm. Overall the condition of the course is very good. Greens still has mini holes from aerification but it didn't affect the way the ball rolled, except the greens were slow-med speed. Bunkeres did not have rakes and the sand was tamped down, so not fluffy. Pins are left in the cups and a sleeve is inserted so the ball does not completely fall in. Golf game was off but just glad to finally head out for a game. As always great staff. And Kudos to course management for not price gouging the rates as some courses are doing right now.

Played with Nick at Dos Lagos this past Friday for our GK Cup match and I was excited to finally play this course as I had driven past it so many times going down the 15 towards Temecula but it had never worked out. Glad I finally got to check it off the list.

Nick's review is pretty spot on. The track itself is like three courses in one. A lot of narrow and nervy holes on the front nine with some carries to manage, while the back nine starts out very parkland style, then the last 4-5 holes are quirky, hilly and somewhat gimmicky. You're going to get a little bit of everything at Dos Lagos.

One thing you won't get is a quality warm-up unfortunately. The only place to hit balls before your round is a dilapidated 'batting cage' with scuffed up balls you have to go find and the most worn out mats I've ever seen. It's a depressing site and I'm surprised, if that's the only place to get ready, that they don't put a little more time and/or money into fixing it up.

As far as course conditions right now, it's all quite yellowish right now with the fairways a slightly lighter shade to show which one is the fairway and which is the rough, but there's not much between them. Coverage is good but thin. You'll need to hit the ball crisply and square.

Tee boxes on the front nine were fine, but very shaggy on the back, as Nick mentioned. I was only in two bunkers and they seemed okay but certainly not fluffy. I found the greens to be in good shape, rolling true and holding shots well. They were quite quick actually despite not looking like it. Luckily I had a pretty good round in terms of putting.

Overall I enjoyed the course with the one exception of the 16th, which is one of those annoyingly narrow, small landing area, then straight uphill to a small volcano green holes. It's just not a great design there, but a lot of the other holes are quite fun and engaging.

Would I make another trip that far just to play Dos Lagos? Probably not right away, but I would definitely not have any issue playing there again if there was an event or outing with another group. From the pictures up for the course, I can see how much nicer it looks when it's green and lush, so I'd probably wait for that before coming back.

Rode the Blues (6544/71.4/128) with Roarksown1 for our GK Cup match. Joined by Al and Nader, nice group to play with. POP 4 H, 45M in hazy, breezy conditions around 65. ' This would be a fairly challenging course to walk, several holes are very hilly. Par 70, six par 3's, four par 5's and eight par 4's. Starts out tight for a few holes, then opens up for a few holes, then it's hilly target golf. Almost like 3 different mini courses within a course. Tees were mediocre. The back 9 were more like light rough, looked like they had not been mowed in a week? Front nine much better maintained for whatever reason. Fairways were winter thin and played firm with good coverage. There was barely a demarcation between the fairways and the rough. Rough mowed down, not very penal. Sand traps I was in were very mediocre. Okay sand, but too many rocks and not well raked. Greens were firm and quick. I like quick greens but had problems for the first 16 holes getting the line and speed on these. Finally made putts on 17/18. Customer service was excellent from all. No GPS on the basic carts, no driving range, just a warm up cage that was not in good condition. Quick, efficient check in, drink cart around probably 5-6 times. Plenty of water stations on the course. Okay course, fun to play. Last played here about 5 years ago and it may be another 5 before I return since it is a long, inconvenient drive for me. Unique layout in many regards. Takeaway is that there are many more good holes than bad, but a couple of funky holes make me mark down the overall design. Still recommended.

2/5 another Bday round $15 cart fee and a very friendly welcome. 6 hr round but only 420 on the course as there was a frost delay and there fore a line up to start. Turned into a nice enough day by 11. Was joined by David from Crestline an enjoyable addition to our 2some.
Fairways in winter shape some brown areas and a few patches of green. Grass seems healthy judging by the root structure that is easily seen in the unfilled divots. All and all descent lies. Not much rough except on some slopes around the greens. Could use more in some areas to keep the ball from getting into more serious trouble like the lake on 6.
Tees were ok. Bunkers were varied some with enough sand and some thin.
Greens had what appeared to be mixed grasses as the colors were rather camo. Rolled medium/medium fast and were mostly smooth with some slight bumpiness on a few greens. Greens are large with tiers and undulations and keeping with the overall theme of slopes coming into play as a shot would seem to be relatively ok would roll off and leave a much longer putt over the bump or from the fairway 20-30 extra yards or from a bunker or worse.
Good variety of holes and significant elevation changes on a few.

Early morning tee time (6:25am) on a rather brisk winter morn. Ruth from the pro shop is a real joy to deal with. She was efficient, friendly, pleasant, and is the type of person who makes check in a real positive.

While we actually had the first tee time, we were advised we to follow a group of "regulars" Since we were not in a hurry, no argument was made, and the "regulars" played quickly and never held us up.

Course is in decent winter condition. Fairways were very "tight" which presents a challenge to hit crisp shots. Greens rolled well, held shots, but were not quite as fast as I remember them being. Bunkers had plenty of sand, most of which was well maintained. Tee boxes and rough were both playable, but certainly not pristine.

Always enjoy playing this course, as it offers enough of a challenge, but affords many "easy" holes. Holes #5, #13 & #14 are all the golf hole you can handle, otherwise this course plays fairly easy. Still, if you're not careful on those other holes, they have enough challenge to bite you and put some quick boogies on the card.

I find the greens fees very reasonable, and their "birthday" policy is also quite generous. Recommend this course for a fun round of golf without bankrupting you or destroying your handicap
