Played the South Course last Friday, May 18th @ 8:00a. Pace was very good for a foursome (finished in 4:20). The course was in very good condition. The greens were smooth and medium/fast, fairways lush and some parts thin but very playable. Tee boxes were all fine (from whites). Some par 3 teeboxes had lots of divot marks but understandable given the amount of people playing. It was overall a very enjoyable round. It plays very long especially going into the wind but still a fair challenge.

Played the South Course at Los Serranos today. Teed off around 7:00 am. Wanted to go early because this course gets a ton of play and the later you go out the longer the round. Course in great shape. Fairways & greens very nice. Sand traps a little hard (why do some courses water the traps? Makes them hard as rocks!) Very enjoyable round, finishing in under 4 hours and we were a foursome.

Some areas are getting bare because of the weather and enormous amount of play this course gets. great test of golf and fun. i end up calling the marshal every round we play cause some 15 handicap decides to play from BLUE tees (7,400) yards and hacks his way around the course.

expect to play 5 hours on weekends. i wish the course would do more to speed up play, but only seen 1 marshal actually stop a group and let us pass.

I got things to do and got children, daddy can't be gone 6 1/2 hours door-to-door.

probably going to switch to playing during week as $65.00 for 5 hour round is not worth it to me and i'm in the mens club.

i don't care who you are, you should be playing from White Tees (6,800 yards)!

Played on Wed 2/1/12 from the appropriate Tee box (WHITE) 6750 yards. Years ago, I would play the (SOUTH) course every sunday morning with my swing coach from the BLUE tees. Since it has been a few years since I last played here, chose the white tees, still a yardage I can handle since I'm not out playing that much.

Jeremy & George in the Pro shop were very polite & helpful, able to fit me in as a single even though this course was packed with the combination of a early morning tournament and players playing practice rounds for the upcoming PGA Tour Northern Trust (Riviera) Monday qualifier.

This is a PAR 74 layout, will be scaled back par 72 for the Monday Qualifier. Still plenty of course to test your game, including holes that play longer uphill into the wind. True, some hole plays downwind but take advantage by selecting the proper club.
EX: Hole #14 I recommend hitting 3 wood and Hole #16 requires a favorable tee shot on the left side of the fairway, RIGHT side you'll be blocked by the trees and forced to layup with water in front.

All of the carts have ProLink GPS systems, lasers work on the flagsticks.
There are NO YARDAGE books available, local knowledge is so KEY!
The only yardage markings you will see are the GOLD/BLUE/WHITE/RED stones in the middle of the fairways, that is it! NO SPRINKLERS are marked for yardages...It will be interesting to see how well the players know the course for the MONDAY QUALIFIER. Having an experienced caddie who KNOWS the layout will be the difference.

There are several practice putting greens to choose from...This round I didn't have time to hit practice balls, I'd rather get out to play as many as we could, only made 17 holes since we tee'd off right at twilight 1pm.
We kept a good pace but caught up to everyone who was playing practice rounds.

Bunkers: I NEVER found one all day but the conditions looked to be medium firm, not really fluffy at all. Typical muni "dirt".

Greens: Very good, just a little bumpy because of the play all day. Some holes as I remembered are faster than they appear. Some uphill putts just lose pace even when you thought you putted it hard enough. The greens still putted very true, are firm BUT THAT DOESN'T mean your ball doesn't leave some kind of mark on the green. I must have fixed close to 5 marks per hole, which does not include my playing partners! They were fixing their marks...

Fairways: Disappointed with the current conditions...some holes are cart path only to help the grass grow back. Kind of like some crab grass is mixed in, was hoping these would be in some kind of playable condition for the Monday Qualifier.

Rough? er, there really isn't much but plenty of bare spots can be found.

Tee boxes: Players are filling in with the sand buckets which are available right next to the tee box. Ex: 4 buckets on the Par 3's.

Did not see a beverage cart so when you reach Hole #7 best to grab something from the snack shack.

As I mentioned earlier, it had been a few years since I last played here but I do remember ALL of the spots, angles, and options to avoid big numbers. I'll be back even though the fairways need some care.

Played today at 11:50 as a single, got paired with another single (super-cool guy too!). Course was wide open, we did not catch up to another group until #7 and managed to finish the round in about 3:35. Unheard of for a Sunday! Weather was perfect, sunny with a little to no wind. The course was in typical winter condition, pretty much dormant everywhere, but since it rained yesterday the fairways and rough were softer than expected. The greens were nice, maybe a little bumpy, with very few ball marks. Slow uphill, quick downhill. Bunkers were in great shape, I was in about 7 of them. Tee boxes were level, but not in very good shape. Tee it up for a good lie. There was no beverage cart, but the customer service from the rest of the staff was very good. Overall a great day of golf on a fun, long course. I'll be back soon.

Played on 1-5 thursday. Greens are in good condition, but fairways are dormant. Due the lack of rain in california, seems like most courses are dry. The temperature was in the mid 80's on this day. Unheard of in January. Bunkers were in good shape. Played the round in about 4 hours on a weekday. Didn't see a cart girl on this hot day.

Played 2 rounds here yesterday 12/28. morning round took us 4~4 1/2 hours since we were like the 3rd group. teed off again at 1:30 and played up to 16th hole. I guess a lot of people are off this week because the course was pretty much at its full capacity. I don't play here regularly but I felt like the greens were pretty slow, especially after playing one of the corona courses on Monday. distance control is definitely harder on slower greens since it's harder to make a nice and smoother stroke... at least for me. went from no 3 putts on Monday at a fast green to multiple 3 putts here at a slower green. fairway was decent and gave you a good roll.
Long but not much troubles. Happy to use one proV1 for 34 holes without losing it.
Overall, beautiful day at a decent course and had a good time.

greens were in good condition. everywhere else.... not so good. Word to the wise, it gets really cold in the mornings. First to tee off in the fog and we could not feel our hands after a few holes. I like all the signs around the course. Some of the bunkers were the pot bunker style.. very interesting. People were very nice. The maintenance people had to point us in the right direction on one of the holes that didnt have a clear marker. Both the proshop folks and starter had a smile. Enjoyable experience.
