sand in traps are inconsistent..some good , some like hard dirt. some tee boxes were just dirt and very little grass. some greens were very thin, alot of them bumpy...a great course but have never seen it in this condition before...what is the trouble? water problems?

Played this course Wed. Sept. 26, 2012, Teed off at 8:00am. Had not played this course in over a year. The course wasn't in the best of condition then and based on todays round it has just got worse. This is not a golf course, it's a cow pasture without grass or cows. From the pratice green and chipping green, you are challenged to find Grass anywhere except the putting surface. On the course it's spotty, very spotty and that's the fairways. The rest of the course is nothing but bare spots, dried out grass and weeds and some healthy green weeds. The course looks like they are going out of business. The place looks dirty, old and like it's seen it's better day. It's a shame to see what was once a wonderful Golf Course crash and burn like this one. The course is over rated, and for sure over priced. Save your time and money and go some place else. The only nice thing I can say about this course is the employees were friendly and helpful.

Cons- ton of bare spots. Fairway and rough are bare... And I mean bare. Grass sucks, kikuya is really inconsistent. Tee boxes are long and divot ridden everywhere. Black boxes are in poor shape.
Overall great layout. Conditions are terrible. Only play it once a year in a pinch.

Played in a tournament on Saturday morning, 8/4/12, on a warm day that started overcast but quickly got sunny and hot. My club has played here every year for the past 25 years, so I’ve seen quite a bit of change here, with the loss of all the old trees, etc. Course conditions used to be pretty soggy in fairways and especially around greens, but the last few years everything has firmed up and played better.

Greens are about as good as I’ve ever seen them here, medium firm, receptive, rolling well at medium-fast speed. Rough was generally benign due to being pretty dried out, and even in the rough around the greens the ball sat up pretty well. Sand was inconsistent, some good and some thin, damp and firm. Playing partners looked like they were hitting off pretty firmly-packed stuff when they visited.

Very little wind today, which is unusual at Los Serranos, where in the late morning and afternoon you can usually count on a steady southwest breeze. Tees were generally in good shape. Saw the marshall a few times, although as part of the tourney we weren’t really pressed one way or the other. Pace was usual for LS – about 5 hours. I seem to recall the cart girl coming by a couple times, and there’s a snack shack after #6. Enough water available on a hot day. Recommended.

Played Sunday Morning with Lefthander32 in our South Matchplay final, got off a little late but pace was actually pretty good, it didn't seem like we were waiting alot but it took 5 hours, I honestly think the South course with its length and the par 74 just takes that long to play. To the course now, greens in really good shape ran fairly smooth, minimal ball marks, these greens have subtle little breaks in them that are difficult to see. Bunkers were consistent and firm, no fault of the course but raking bunkers were a bit of an issue for some people. Fairways were not that great, lots of bare spots and unevenly grown fairway clumps. Rough the same, lots of bare spots. Tee boxes were unleveled with an overabundance of divots. A good size driving range, 5 putting greens await you when you arrive, I however do not understand why they would have the range set up in the same place they had obviously had it for a few days(hard to find a grass lie. It's Sunday, one of the busiest day's of the week! I have a tough time paying full rate here without a discount, just not worth it for me.

Played today at 9:53 AM, there were tournaments running on both courses and my foursome got out in between tournament groups right at our tee time. The round lasted 5:15, which I pretty much expected so no problem. We never waited too long in between shots. Conditions were quite nice. The tee boxes were a bit shaggy but generally level and not too damaged. The fairways had a few dry patches and tight lies, but were overall in good shape. The rough was spotty in some places, and it looks like they're having gopher issues, but decent lies were out there. The fairway bunkers I was in were pretty solid, while the greenside bunkers were filled with fluffy white sand. The greens were medium speed and rolled quite well, hardly any bumps or unseen breaks. They were also very receptive. Not many ball marks either, except for hole 18 where I fixed 7 marks prior to putting out. Didn't see a beverage cart, but there were plenty of water fountains, as well as a halfway house selling food and drinks. The round was $58, a little steep if you're looking for value golf but well worth it for this course. With the exception of a couple of semi-tricky holes, the layout of this course is all right there in front of you, with wide fairways, ample greens and plenty of room to recover from misses. I've enjoyed every round I've ever played here, and right now conditions are definitely on the better side of good, so get out there and have fun!

Played today (Sunday) in a mini tourney that started at 9:00. The course was packed with tournaments on both courses. I had to wait to warm up on the range. Even with more people there then I have ever seen, our groups went out on time. Played in a little over 5 hours. The course was in okay shape. There were a few bare spots. The fairways were patchy because some areas were getting more water than others but were generally a good hitting surface. Had a few unfortunate lies in the rough because of burrowning rodents. The rough was not punitive on most holes although in places with more kikuyu grass, it was tougher. I was in one fairway bunker; it was more dirt than sand. Judging by what others did in my group, the greenside bunkers were okay. The tee boxes were shaggy with few bare spots. They were almost universally level. The greens were a pleasant surprise. For the last ten years or so, the greens have seemed to run slower than average in the area. They were not fast today but they also were not slow. I thought they generally ran true and were an above average putting surface. Good service in the pro shop, a great clubhouse with good service also. I am biased since I have been playing the course off and on for 35 years, but I enjoyed myself. I like the fact that this privately owned course with its own management is thriving. I hope I get the chance to play it again this summer.

walked on as a single 5-30 teed up at 5:50 done at 8:20.pro shop and starter very friendly. good challenging long course a little over 7600 from blacks but it is a 74 par course. tee boxes in good shape level with plenty of grass a little more divot damage on three pars. fairways where ok decent lies a little thin in some spots. rough is a mixture of different types of grass mixed in with some bare spots. greens where a little slow for my taste but rolled good and held shots nice. they are adding new sand to a lot of the bunkers rolled into one and ball sat down if flying in most likely ball will plug.overall enjoyable course a lot of elevation changes with good variety of holes.

Played the South Course last Friday, May 18th @ 8:00a. Pace was very good for a foursome (finished in 4:20). The course was in very good condition. The greens were smooth and medium/fast, fairways lush and some parts thin but very playable. Tee boxes were all fine (from whites). Some par 3 teeboxes had lots of divot marks but understandable given the amount of people playing. It was overall a very enjoyable round. It plays very long especially going into the wind but still a fair challenge.
