Sorry for the late review, got out on Sunday Feb 26th. had a break in the rain and thought it would be a good chance to get out to my local course. Conditions are better than average, especially after all the rain we have been having. Greens were very nice, held shots very well and putted remarkably smooth for being so soft. Tee boxes were just ok, probably the lowlight of the course right now. Little patchy with quite a few divot marks on the par 3s. Fairways were excellent! never a bad lie. They drain well here and were soft with very little roll, but they were lush with not much divot damage. Found one trap and it was surprisingly soft, even after the rains. They should remain in good shape for awhile, recent sand seems to have been added. POP was way above average for this place, the weather scared quite a few people away, it was windy, rainy and cold. POP was at 4 hrs, which is great for Nado.

Overall, always recommend if you can get out. Resident Sunday rate is now $40 to walk and well worth it.

Took advantage of another break in the weather, as most places are soaked I headed to Nado which drains well. Checked in with the starter, went back to get my stuff and when I came back I heard him call my name, niiiiice! Went off at about 7:20, finished at 10:50. The course was in very good shape with some evidence of rain storms in palm fronds, wet bunkers (but I did have 5 sandies, so they played really well), then late in the round the wind picked up. Alway a great place to walk and under these conditions maybe the, or one the best places to play.
Tees: level and well covered
Fairways: not much run out due to being wet, but I found no soggy places whatsoever and as I played from the back tees, which are long for me, I had to hit a lot o hybrids and 3-woods and was able to pick them off the turf with ease.
Rough: minimal, but some spots of bother
Bunkers: I liked everyone I was in, which was 6 times and I got up and down on 5 of those occasions
Greens: great, smooth, medium speed (slow compared with Salt Creek the other day), well hit shots stopped and clunkers ran out a bit
Customer service: perfect, they got me out fast and then left me alone

I had a time somewhere else and with all the rain we got I wanted to play a course that drains well. I'm glad I came here because while it was wet you could not tell it had rained as much as it had the day before. This is by far the best course I have played that drains water exceptionally well. There were no puddles and I only saw standing water in 2 bunkers.

Pace of play was excellent. Put my name in at about 6:45 and was off by 7:15. Finished in 3 1/2 hours. There were were people to start but not much after us. We had 2 3somes behind us.

Greens were good and rolled well. Wet enough that approach shots made a mark but we went off early enough that they were smooth and faster than you would think considering.

Fairways were nice. No complaints. Divots about 50/50 filled and unrepaired. No dead spots that I recall. Nice to hit from.

Rough is usual. There were some spots that where it was thicker was a little tricky because the grass was damp. But really the rough is non existent.

Bunkers on the front 9 had been raked except for the edges of the bunkers. The last 5 holes were also raked again except for the edges. It was just the first 4 holes on the back that had not been raked yet but it looks like they were getting to it. The bunkers that had been raked were actually pretty soft.

Always one of the better values in the area and it looks like the rates may be increasing on 1/1 a little bit. It's great if you can get out early.

Had a fun time. greens were great, fairways were decent. Teeboxes were the worst of the bunch, but still were level and could find a decent spot to tee it up.

Always enjoy coming out to my local course, got right out as a single cuz of football sunday and beat the twilight crowd. POP was around 4.5 hrs, not bad for Nado.

Get on out there, conditions are good and are getting better.

Took a chance and walked on the expecting a wait and was surprised because I got right out. Seemed pretty busy but yet we were a 3some. There was a slow group 2 groups in front of us (about 11/2 holes behind) but we still finished right at 4 hours.

First few greens seemed we and my ball didn't seem to release that much but as they got drier the pace picked up quite a bit. Greens were really nice. This place gets a lot of play so I expect ball marks but there were a lot less than I anticipated. I also only saw a few unrepaired ones to.

Fairways were in decent shape. There are a few dead spots but nothing I considered to be that bad really.

Rough is non existent except for the right side of 12. The grass is always heavier over there.

Tee boxes need a trim and par 3s were a little beaten but I always found a spot.

I wasn't in a bunker but it look like wet and heavy sand.

Overall I enjoyed my experience here. If you can catch it on a decent day like today the rate is well worth it.

Decided to give coronado a try this morning. I was very surprised how easy it was to walk on. Showed up around 645 and was on the first tee by 710. Course is in great condition. The tee boxes were very lush and could use a trim. Most all were level and easy to find a place for a tee. The fairways were were nice and green with no dried out areas. Most look like they had been mowed recently. The sand traps were all great with lots of sand and very easy to play from. The greens have recovered very well and most rolled good but a little slow. Played with a three some who play all the time. They said pace has been getting better. We played in just under 4 hours with no waiting on any of the holes. If your in the area I highly recommend playing now. I was very impressed with the conditions and the $35 rate to walk is well worth the money.

I always love coming down here because the course seems to always be in better than average shape and its challenging enough for me. I think the staff does a great job and the views and weather are spectacular. This was my fifth round here and every person I bring down thinks its great too. As a bonus I find the bay side grill to be excellent for an after round drink and snack or a drop in meal. Who ever manages this facility deserves a gold star.

Played 9/6 as a twosome, first out. Proshop was efficient. Starter was great. My buddy was a little late, said he'd send us out 2nd as the first group played "fast." When my bud showed up 1st group hadn't teed off, so he let us go ahead with a promise to keep ahead. They never came within a hole after 2. POP was a little less than three hours as we ran into some 9 holers. Great course to walk, flat and no long treks from green to tee. Tee boxes were green level and way above your average muni. Kikuyu fairways looked and played great. Rough was a little thin in some places and lush in others, but never very tough. Traps had lots of sand that was nice to hit out of. Greens rolled nicely at medium speed. They were a little discolored but putted much better than they looked. Well-conditioned course with tree-lined fairways, four holes along the water and a nice mix of dog-legs, great course to walk and $35 to play weekdays make this one of the best golf deals in SD. I wouldn't call Coronado tough, but there are plenty of ways to make a double or more and the hole variation is outstanding for an older, flat course. You never get that "Didn't I just play this hole?" feeling. It can get slow here, so get out as early as you can.

I showed up at 6pm on a Sunday just hoping to practice putting and chipping - I love the practice green here, with its ample space, variety of undulations and nice location near the clubhouse/restaurant and with views of San Diego Bay. But it turned out the course was wide open, so I decided to walk it single, and ended up getting in 15 holes in a bit less than 2 hours. Probably not that empty too often at Coronado, but I guess sometimes you get lucky! Overall, very nice conditions. Grass was lush and green everywhere my ball landed, including when I missed a couple greens by maybe 20 yards, and I don't remember seeing any dry patches elsewhere, either. Tee boxes were in fine shape... the par-3 11th's was a little hard, but I only noticed that because the others were ideal. I managed to avoid bunkers and didn't think to peek at any in my haste, so no comment there. Greens rolled nice... a couple had small, somewhat bumpy sections where a second type of grass seems to be trying to invade, but these patches were far from cup and didn't cause trouble. Many greens are elevated, adding some challenge if you miss your approach, and some are pretty large. Coronado plays 6,590 yards from the blue tees; par 72. The layout is not difficult - it's flat and there's virtually nowhere you can go out of bounds or get wet, except if you miss big to the right on a few holes. Most holes play straight, and only forced-carry is the pond on par-3 9th. For me, the course is most fun on the back 9... I always enjoy the dogleg-left par-4 13th, the curved par-5 14th and the last 3 or 4 holes with gorgeous views of San Diego Bay to the right. My only nit to pick (very minor) was that they weren't giving carts out anymore at the time I arrived... I could have got in all 18 if I'd had a cart! But they probably have a good reason for that policy, and honestly I wasn't upset as 15 in 2 hours was way more than I expected. Greens fees are a steal at any time - weekday $35 and $20 twilight; weekend $40 and $22 twilight; carts per person $18 regular and $11 twilight.
