Played on Sunday at 11am, got a decent deal for $41 on their website. Not the best deal, but my wife loves the course, so got to make her happy. The conditions were definitely worse this month than last month. It didn't look like they mowed the greens for a day or two, so they were a little on the shaggy side and bumpy. They were very receptive to shots and held very well, but just didn't putt like they did last month. they are the highlight of the course right now. The teeboxes and rough were fairly beat up. The teeboxes were probably the worse I've seen in a long time. the fairways had fairly good coverage, but they had lots of divot damage, they were fairly soft at most spots and spongy bermuda going dormant, but had some questionable lies quite a few times. Found one trap and it was decent. Not much rough to speak of, it was pretty short.

All in all, always a good day at Woodson, just wish it was in a little better shape. Maybe look for a little better deal and wait another month for them to get the teeboxes back in shape.

Played last Sunday, Oct 11, little late for the review, but no one has rated it for about a month, so feel it's worthy.

Customer service was great, Todd in the pro shop was very friendly. We had underpar deal, think $56 for two, great great deal for a Sunday at 11am. Not too many people out, maybe cuz of football and it was a little warm, but not uncomfortable. Starter was friendly as well.

Love this course and the views. Overall, great shape. About the only complaint was the tee boxes were a little shaggy and very soft, not a huge deal, but not perfect. The rest of the course was sweet. The fairways were very nice, mowed to perfection, not too soft not too hard. Didn't really see the rough, but it didn't look too penal. Found one bunker and it was nice and soft. Greens were very very nice, not perfect, but pretty close. Held shots very well and putted true with above medium speed.

Highly recommend getting out there right now. There are some good deals and the course is in great shape.

Played this morning in 3.5 hours after getting through the 4 in front of us. I had forgotten just how much fun this course is to play. Great mixture of holes to test your game. Tee boxes clean/level and no issues. Fairways provided good roll and good lies, unless you strayed from the (what I would call) wide fairways. Rough was penalizing and of course there many OB areas (escaped w/o harm). Traps (in one) were just fine and playable. Greens were in very good shape and devoid of ball marks (great) and chipped/putted great all morning. Customer service was excellent. Sorry I stayed away so long and look forward to getting back soon. Recommended.

PLayed yesterday, Sunday with the wife and another great couple we've known for a while and we play a couples two ball scramble, had a blast. Can't post a score, unfortunately, but 2 over with the wife is pretty sweet.

Course was in great overall shape. Greens were about as good as I've seen them in 10 years. Held shots very well, putted smooth and were nice and green. Very cool to see. Fairways also were excellent, we found all of them and always had great lies. Bunkers looked a little hard, we didn't find any, but our opponents were in a couple and said they were a little hard. Rough was not very penal, pretty short. About the only thing that needed some work were the teeboxes, they were a little too spongy and shaggy. They just need to mow them a little, maybe prepping them for the coming heat wave, so i bet they will be nice in a couple of weeks.

All in all a great time to get out there. $58 for twosome on Underpar, can't beat it! about 4hrs for POP, can't beat it.

Found a rare early morning TeeOff.com "Deal" time and played at 6:48 this morning. (I would love to see more "Deal" times early in the day, so hopefully they continue offering that.) I checked in around 6:20, hit some putts and then the starter paired me with another single and sent us on our way. We played through three groups during our round (two of which were other twosomes, sorta weird) and finished in a total of 3:15. Great pace and got off the course before it was miserably hot, although it was already very hot out there.

Except for the bunkers, the course is in good, playable condition. The greens are the highlight, smooth, soft and medium fast. Don't worry about the bare spots on the practice putting green – none of those are found on the course. Fairways were nice. A few looked like they had recently been aerated, but it didn't affect play. Rough was mostly lush and sometimes the ball sunk down. Tee boxes were a little shaggy, some more than others, but nothing bad. The bunkers, on the other hand, are bad. They are all compacted and almost like hitting off hardpan.

I hadn't played here for probably at least 15 years and really enjoyed the course. The more patience you demonstrate here, the better you're likely to score. Played on Sunday the 26th of July and teed off at 1000am. Used the Underpar deal which was a steal at $59 for two players with a cart. I love this course, it reminds me of Stallion Springs in Tehachapi CA. All the oak trees and rock formations make for a very aesthetically pleasing course. Not the longest course, but still very challenging. The course is in great shape, but the bunkers lack proper maintenance. The slight breeze was a delight due to the muggy weather, but did not affect the ball flight very much. GKers go enjoy Mt. Woodson now, it was worth the drive.

Went out for a evening 9. Haven't played here in a while. Drive by it everyday and noticed the fairway's greener then typical. Found the course to be in very good shape. The fairway's are greener then I've seen them in many years. I wouldn't call them 'lush' but, were in very good shape and mostly green.
Greens are in great shape as well. Being late in the evening they were very bumpy, but ran at a good pace and looked beautiful.
They are doing quite a bit of work removing trees & brush. I heard they were finally bought and it looks like some investment is going in.

If your a fan of Mt. Woodson. Come out and give it a play. It's the best I've seen it in a very long time !!!

The staff were really nice as was the scenery . unfortunately some holes are so challenging that groups stack up . These holes are not unfair and were fun to play you just gotta wait your turn and enjoy the views . I would go here again and if your in east San Diego county you really should try it . I don't know why the sand traps were empty but they really do need some attention as they were the courses weakest feature . I used my birthday round here and do want to thank the staff for a wonderful day

Played on saturday the 7th and was hoping for a quicker round than last week, but no way. Brutal front nine 3 hours plus. Really sucks waiting and waiting on every shot every tee box, back nine opened up nicely thank goodness, but still total round 5.5 hours. Can't deal with it. I guess I need to start getting used it at Woodson.

Similar to last weeks review, greens are in great shape. Teeboxes were much better as well. Bunkers, found one, seemed a little better than last week, still a little too firm underneath, but playable. Fairways are just fine, even though they're dormant and don't look very nice to the eye. I always had a great lie in every fairway, nice and a little soft, it's not like hard pan. Got an underpar deal for 59$ for a twosome and worth every penny, just a beautiful day with great friends and unreal views, so even though it was slower than molasses, it was still very enjoyable. Good time to enjoy the course, with these greens, just maybe try and get out there during the week when it's not so slow.
