Got out this morning 9/14 around 9:50 as a foursome and got around at our own pace of a little under 4.5 hrs. In a nutshell, the course conditions were as nice as I've seen it. I avoided the bunkers, so I can't address them, but everything else was great. I don't recall ever thinking twice about placing my tee or finding level grass. Fairways were very nice, lush, and I didn't notice any burnt, dry or thin areas. Rough was nice, generally green and played fair. Greens were excellent—quick enough but not too quick, given the contours of many of the greens—and running true. There is an alert for upcoming aeration, so hit it now if you are so inclined. We all enjoyed the course.

Played here Sunday mid-morning 8/24. Can't add much the previous reviews. The course is in very nice shape from tee to green. The greens are medium speed and roll well. The one greenside bunker I was in had very nice soft sand. This is a short course, even from the tips. But it is a lot of fun to play. I highly recommend it.

Course is in very good shape overall right now with just a few minor issues for me.

Course is in very good shape overall right now with just a few minor issues for me.

Got out early solo & played through a few groups in just over 2 hours! Whole course was pretty soaked but it was to be expected in the morning. Didn't bother me & my play too much except for all the clumpy, mucky grass clippings.

Tee boxes are perhaps the "worst" part of this course. Keep in mind that I would take these any day over the munis I tend to play. A few weren't level (not a big deal for me) & some had brown spots.

Fairways are in very good condition. No bare spots except for an area on #7 right in front of the green that was completely bare (or muddy in this case) if you can call that part a fairway. A little thin in places but nothing major at all.

Greens are, like the previous reviewer said, the best I've played on this year. Nice roll, no bumps, fast too.

Rough is in very good shape in most areas. Quite healthy & definitely affects a shot.

Traps weren't necessarily wet, just heavy. My feet sank down more than usual when playing shots in them, but I managed just fine.

My first time playing here & would definitely come back. Good scoring opportunities abound but still a very challenging layout with some target golf here & there.

Played on an EZLinks $24 special, teed off @ 745A on 8/18. Walked a very enjoyable 18 holes with GDR23 and Pedro7170, POP was 4 h 15m. The front 9 was less than 2 hours, the back 9 was brutal, we were behind a 5some and waited seemingly forever on numerous shots. 5 seniors, 3 men, 2 women, none of whom looked to be under 75. The way they were constantly circling their carts around looking for balls, I thought I was watching an old Cowboy & Indian movie... I have an issue with ANY course that lets 5 people who can't hit it father than 150 yards nor find their balls play together and back things up like these people did today. They were so clueless they tried to come back and play OUR balls after we waited 5 minutes and hit to where they had finally vacated... No marshall or cart person. Anyway, on to the course review... The greens were smooth and putted VERY well, medium fast & firm. Easily the best greens I have putted on this golf season. The fairways were very green, nicely manicured and lush as well. The rough is generally mowed down and not too penal. I was not in any sand traps, but they looked to be raked and well maintained. The tees are lush, mostly kikuya and all were in good shape, although a few need leveling. The pro shop was very busy and did a good job of getting us out on time. A great value @ $24 to walk on a Monday A.M considering the course conditions.

Walked a very enjoyable 18 holes with my buddy Nickesquire and Pedro7170 this morning 8/18/2014. POP was just over 4 hours catching slower 5some on the back nine. We played the twilight all day special and teed off at 7:45am for 24 bucks. I have not seen the greens smoother and nicer than this round. I think they are prepping them for the County Championships I believe at both Buena and Olivas. They were shining green and putting beautifully. The fairways were beautiful and lush as well. Several areas of morning watering by sprinklers and grounds keeping crew were evident. Was not in any sand bunkers but they looked to be raked and in great shape. The tees were lush kikuya tees that showed really no distress. Some of the teeing grounds are crowned. Rough was mowed down and in nice shape. The line behind us in the pro-shop was 10 deep so I think many have caught on to the nice twilight deals here on Monday. Recommended at this time due to the beautiful greens and fairways.

Had not played here since Jan 2014. Was invited by a friend who had a killer deal on EZlinks for 12 bucks with a cart. Probably the nicest I have ever seen these fairways. They were green, thick and lush...almost perfect lies. Was not in any sand bunkers but my buddy was in two and they looked to be raked thick white marble beach sand---beautiful. The tees were very lush for teeing grounds. Had to make sure your tee was long enough. The teeing grounds on several holes make you hunt for a level stance. Most of the rough lining the fairways is thick 2-3 inch Kikuyu grass which makes this course interesting if you miss the fairway by a couple feet. The greens were in decent shape I would say rolling maybe a 9 on the stimp. Not the fastest greens but on this short course with undulating greens that can be appreciated. The pin placement on #15 today was outrageous(extreme back right on the backside of the slope) and kind of spoiled a special round for me. The staff here are top notch friendly. No driving range but a putting green to warm up on. For the price we paid today it was really fun. A shorter tree lined course that is fun to play. Must be able to work the ball both ways here. Afternoon wind can make some holes real honest. Probably a 2-3 time a year course for me for a change. Good job Buena.

My first time back here in quite a while. I like the layout of the course and it is fairly short at a par 70, 5826 yards from the black tees. Weekend afternoons it will still take over four hours. I say it was perfect for my neighbor, who has just started playing golf. This was his 10th round so far. Despite the relatively short yardage there are many factors that make this course challenging. The large trees, steeply undulated greens, and many deep bunkers will give you a run for your bogey. Don't try to overpower the course and you could score well here. Not me though; it seemed like I was hitting "Tree Wood" all day, LOL. Greens were still recovering from early spring aerification. Mostly smooth, but you could see the holes, and it tended to be on the slow side of medium speed. Another week or two and they will have healed. It appears many areas continue to have problems though: I saw patches of sod on several areas: tees, fairways and rough. The first par 3, hole five, is undergoing some work on the tee boxes, as is the nearby hole 11, which is using a temporary tee box. Overall, the course is in just okay shape; however, as you drive up the course looks amazing: very lush, green and mowed nicely. It's only when you are actually playing it that you see some of the problems. That being said, I give them credit for continuing to make repairs and improvements where needed.

I played Buena Ventura golf course on Monday, Feb 17th with 3 non GK members. I had the round of my golf career got a 79. The weather was excellent and we didn't wait to long. Buena had their twight light prize of 24.00 the services was excellent and they let us go a few minutes earlier from our t-time. The fair ways were in good shape, greens were fast and the pings placement were challenging, sand bankers were had good decent sand, and some of the tees needs a little TLC. We had a great round. Buena is good golf course to work on your short game.
