Played the Blues on the Canyon Crest/Creekside combo (6506/71.5/133) on a Golf Now Hot Deal. Was matched up with Arly, Ryan & Chris, all nice guys to play with. POP was excellent, 4H in mid 60's, calm, overcast conditions. The tees were mostly level & lush with few unfixed divots. The fairways were decent and had good coverage, maybe 50-50 thin/lush. The rough was mostly lush with occasional hardpan or thin lies. The green side traps were well maintained with nice sand. The fairway bunkers were firmer and less maintained. The greens putted nice, medium fast, firm but still held approach shots well. The customer service was excellent, they got me right out. The starter was on top of things and the cart person was around a couple of times, a rarity on a weekday morning. They also have a nice restaurant onsite. Moorpark can be a really challenging track, one of the few semi public courses in Ventura County. Most holes have hazards down one or both sides. Many holes have elevation changes and forced carries over hazards, this is not a course for beginners. All 3 nines are VERY unforgiving on crooked shots, you can accumulate penalty shots in bunches here if you are more than about 10 yards left or right of almost any fairway. If you want to be challenged, this is a picturesque course up/down rolling hills that is usually not super crowded. Definitely recommended.
