Played with the GK Gurus on 2/27. I'll just echo what they said, that the course is in terrific shape. Very lush, fairways like carpet, but the rough kept in check enough that you shouldn't have too much trouble finding your ball in it. Greens were smooth and suuuuuper fast, giving me fits all day but that's because I stink. Wasn't in any bunkers, but they looked pretty good considering all the recent rain.

Played the Creekside/Ridgeline combo, wish we could've played Ridgeline first because I hate ending my round on a par 3, but it's a good one so no real complaints. The course was all ours on a Monday, pace would've been very fast except we stopped to take photos a lot because the views. Only saw the cart girl once, but it was a slow cold Monday so I get it.

Overall a great experience, Moorpark is a fun layout with nice views, and now that it's had some rain I think it's almost in peak condition. Can't wait to go back in late spring.

Teed it up with fellow GK Review Gurus on Monday 2/27. What a great time. Even on a cloudy cold day. The course was in excellent condition. The best I’ve seen it years. So lush and green. They had lightly verticut that morning and with a dusting of sand which made the putting surfaces even smoother and faster. Fairways groomed and lush. Rough groomed, 1-2 inches and lush. Bunkers groomed with quality sand. Tee boxes cut tight, lush and groomed.

We played the Creekside to Ridgeline combo which provided a formidable challenge to say the least. I still say that hole #4 on the Creekside nine, beast par 4 requiring a long carry off the tee to clear the gorge to a small fairway and then an awkward long uphill forced carry to a tight green complex, is the most difficult par 4 in all of Ventura County, and right up there in all of Southern California. My favorite combo is Canyon Crest to Creekside. The layout at Moorpark CC is spectacular in my mind. Views, elevation changes, doglegs, large variety of holes, no let downs, super challenging, well-guarded green complexes yet fair.

The clubhouse, service and amenities are all top notch staying true to the golf course's “Country Club” name yet delivering that level of experience to the public. Moorpark CC is a must play. Thanks everyone that joined me. Let’s get out there again soon!

The course was in fantastic shape.

Tee boxes were lush and very level.

Fairways were green and provided great lies throughout. It was a little soggy in places but after all the rain we've received it was still very playable.

Greens had just been rolled and lightly sanded. They were FAST and true. Green could be challenging to read with their placements near cliffs and barrancas. They were fun to putt on.

I didn't find any bunkers on the day.

This course was fun to play. It's certainly a lot different than a lot of the parkland courses I normally play. It was definitely a challenge. While it was tough it was a fun day that required a lot of thought and I really enjoyed the round. Definitely recommend playing this course if you're in the area and looking for something challenging and in great shape.

I played with the GK group on Monday. It was a great day for golf. I can't really add much to what Mitch and Kevin have said. The course is in wonderful shape. The fairways were still a bit soggy in several areas. Once the course thoroughly dries out, and we've had some sun for a little while, this course will only get greener and more lush. A definite must play!

I joined the Guru group yesterday, teeing off right around noon. I'll be honest, Moorpark CC isn't my favorite course for various reasons (layout etc,) but the course is in absolutely spectacular condition right now. Everything is greeen, green, green! Tee boxes are all lush and level. The fairways are still a bit wet from the rain in some places, hence the reason for cart path only yesterday. The fairways are green and lush, with the ball sitting up beautifully. The rough is extremely thick and penal right now. I found myself having to lay up multiple times because of the thickness of the rough. The greens had just been double cut and rolled, and were pretty fast...probably 11 on the stimp. They had just put a top coat of sand on, but that didn't affect the ball from rolling perfectly true. Actually, the sand helped us see some of the lines for putts from where other balls had rolled. Kviser used this to his advantage, and put on a putting clinic for Mike, Matthew and I. He dropped at least 4 bombs from outside 20 ft. Great job Kevin!

Overall, we had a great time yesterday. Moorpark CC is a top-notch facility with everything you could need to have an awesome day of golf. If this style of course is your thing, don't walk, but RUN to Moorpark right now! I think it's only going to get better as things start to dry out a bit. Upon hitting the practice green, I noticed that they had just verticut (two directions). I spoke to the greenskeeper who told me they just hit both the Creekside and Ridgeline nines and were moving on to the Canyon tomorrow. All greens were to receive a very light sand top dressing and were getting rolled. The greens were in great shape and the light maintenance did not affect the roll in any negative way. Overall, the course is bright green and looks absolutely fantastic. Too bad I seem to have trouble at times making good ball-first contact on those spongy fairways. That's not the fault of the course, though. Mike and I golfed the whites and they were in great shape for the most part with only a couple that seemed to be just a little uneven, but not a problem in any way. The rough was super lush and wayward shots had a chance to stop before going into a hazard. Great customer service and fantastic conditions throughout will keep me coming back.

Rode the Black Tees (73.8-142-7012) late morning this morning 2-27-2017 at 11:44am for a GK Guru round joined by JohnnyGK and Jerinthebox. Fun day on a colder damp late morning with not much wind. Our POP taking our time was a little over 4 hours. Took advantage of Moorpark's nice chipping and putting greens before the round which were fantastic.

This is the 3rd time that I have played Moorpark in the last couple of months. Right now the course is super lush, in great shape and draining fairly well from the recent rains.

The rough was rated an 8.5-10 for me. Very healthy in places 2-3 inches green rough surrounding mostly all fairway and green complexes.

The greens had a minor topdressing that did not effect the line or speed of putts. Putts were pure and the greens were very soft holding like darts--to give you an example on the par 4 5th hole on Creekside I launched a drive from the top of the hill that landed on the back of the green on the fly and maybe moved 1 foot from its divot. The greens are usually always the highlight here and they did not disappoint today. Rated 8.5-10

The fairways were super lush, really greening up from the rains and with the cold air and lush conditions played long. Would call them perfect sponge fairways. With no rain in the forecast for the next couple weeks they should only get better and better. Rated 8.5-10

Was in 2 greenside bunkers and 1 fairway bunker that were raked and a pleasure to hit out of. Rated 8-10

The tees were very lush and level. In good shape cut beautifully. Rated 8.5-10

The layout on Creekside-Ridgeline is tough and you have to keep the ball in play to score well here. Most average-good drives on most courses might not be in play here. I love the challenge here and the conditions are awesome. Thanks to JohnnyGK for the invite and thanks to Moorpark CC for having us out!

What a spectacular view with elevation changes I have never seen on a course before. The conditions were great, greens running true and fast, sand traps consistant, fairways lush. The online deals that you can sometime find is the way to go...but if you have to pay full price...go do it....a wonderful challenging 27 holes and one not to miss if you are in the area.

Rode the Blacks today 1/17/17 playing the Ridgeline/Canyon Crest Combo 73.0/138/7012 and then playing the Creekside 9 afterwards on a beautiful day with a slight breeze 10mph at most finishing all 3 nines in a little under 5 hours. Used the last of the Santa xmas gift card. Their twilight rate starts at 12 noon and is $62.00 at this time of year.

The fairways were even better today then 2 weeks ago when I played here. The recent rains have greened them up and padded them up some even more. They are in great shape! Rated a solid 8/10. There were some wet muddy spots near some of the entrances on some greens but nothing too bad. Overall looks like this course at current time has drained well from previous rains. We have another storm coming so I can only see the fairways, rough and tees even becoming greener and lusher.

The rough is super green, healthy and semi-long up to 2-3 inches lining most fairways. Rated 9/10.

The greens are bentgrass and are just a joy to putt. Smooth, very soft like darts on iron approaches and chips. Hardly any bumps on putts. Fixed a few extra ballmarks per hole. Rated 8.5/10--I thought close but the highlight of the course.

The tees are in great shape as well. Level, lush, green and in good shape. Just minor divot damage on the par 3's. Rated 8.5/10.

Was in two greenside bunkers that always look firm but contained a great amount of sand to not have the club bounce. Rated 8/10. All the bunkers I saw were raked beautifully and had an ample amount of rakes. Just walking by several bunkers today I noticed that many bunkers here are huge in size and there are an ample amount of bunkers at Moorpark on all 27 holes.

The practice range is huge, putting green is huge and they have great restaurant facilities. My wife's work had a Sunday Xmas party here last month and their Sunday morning buffet is off the hook good.

I have a soft spot for this course--I got married here--its only 10 minutes from home. The layout is strong, fun and breathtaking all at the same time. You feel like a member of a private club when you play here. Both par 5's are strong on Ridgeline and there are 3-4 holes on Creekside that will test the best of players. Keep it straight here. I highly recommend Moorpark CC as a stop for all golfers.
