This was my first time playing Moorpark CC and enjoyed it very much. Our group played the Ridgeline/Canyon Crest combo this week and conditions played almost exactly as the previous post from last month described. Driving into the lot gave me the impression of a high end location right away, the course conditions we played continue to be pretty nice with large sloping greens that ran smooth and fast yet I found to be slower than what I'm used to. Overall, we had a very enjoyable time. I could potentially add this place in my top 5 of So Cal tracks. At it's peak condition this place would be amazing. I found it to be very fair and were rewarded with good results by my best shots and properly penalized with my multiple errant ones. My one critique would be that the lower handicapped players in my group thought it was a little on the easy or shortish side, even from the black tees. Many of the longer holes were negated by elevated tee boxes, they complained after the round that they didn't hit anything longer than a 7 iron from the fairway all round...not enough variety. If you are a long fader, this course is for you. #9 on C.C. is a great finishing hole. It's kinda on the pricey side but definitely worth the discounted rate we were able to acquire. We all had a very enjoyable round and look forward to returning in the New Year.

Played Ridgeline-Canyon Crest on 11/23/15. We played for $50 per person which I feel is a good deal but the course definitely needs some water. Fairways were nice, a little thin and brown but very playable. The tee boxes were level but had a few divots and was patchy in places. The greens were very nice overall with a few ball marks and spots. I have played this course in near perfect shape many times but this was not one of them. The course was not crowded at all and we finished in 4.5 hours without ever waiting. The conditions can only get better with the coming rains.

Course is in good condition (maybe not a "Ben Franklin" good?). Played ridge and then creek (they wanted me to play canyon crest but I snuck onto creek as it is the best of the 3 nines IMO). Overall, Creek was a bit better conditioned and that was mainly in terms of the greens that were faster - but not fast - over there and smoother too. Ridgeline greens were slower than sludge around 7.5-8 on stimp and soft and spongy feeling too. Quite a few bobbles over there as well.

All other areas were superior especially considering the drought. Maintenance galore was going on and judging by the size of the shavings coming out of the mower the fairways and rough must have been ultra-shaggy. Just wish maintenance would work in the opposite direction of play so you don't have the same leaf blower behind you for nine holes. Tees, fairways and rough all 8.5/10 with just a few dry areas and some mower burn. Traps looked crusty but had plenty of sand below.

No one on course so buzzed around as a single in 2.30 hours even with a practice putting session on most greens. Paid 90 and that would be my absolute limit right now.

Played sunday noon. Scheduled to play 27 holes. Finished around 630 for all 27 holes. pretty darn good for a sunday afternoon golf if you ask me.

Played sunday noon. Scheduled to play 27 holes. Finished around 630 for all 27 holes. pretty darn good for a sunday afternoon golf if you ask me.

conditions - greens were a bit soft and spongy, slower than usual and a bit bumpy at times. Greens on #1 ridgeline was a bit damaged with some sand fillers on certain spots.
but for the most part - was decent.
fairways decent with a few spots wet and soggy.
bunkers most of which has good coverage except for a few that seem thin to my liking.

The GPS on the carts have food menu pop out once you get to hole 8 of each side which made it convenient to order food to be picked up from the snack bar. Staff was friendly.

They have a decent practice area, with grass range, short game and putting area.

Fun course with lots of fun holes, elevation changes and force carries to make the entire round interesting and challenging.

Enjoyed playing here and highly recommend it.

Friday, 8/21, 2:00 pm start time for the fourth and final leg of our grand mini-tour while my buddy is in town visiting. The facilities and course were busy, in general, and we were paired up with a man/woman twosome who were pleasant company. We played the Creekside and Ridgeline nines. As with Oak Quarry, I found most of the bunkers a bit crusty and firm, with a couple of softer exceptions. Also, like Oak Quarry, everything else was in very good shape and I would be hard pressed—from service to course conditions— to find much to complain about. Good teeing grounds and fairway conditions, nice quick greens in good conditions except for isolated rough patches on two of the greens. One affected my line a bit, but the other impacted no one. The round was over five hours, but that pace worked for us on the front nine, just keeping up with the group ahead. On the back nine, with the forward group pulling away, late in the round I realized we were the slow ones and I'm sorry for those behind us that got stacked up. If I have a reservation about the course, it's that the Creekside nine can be a case of extreme golf at times but, taken as a whole, it's an excellent facility and a well maintained, challenging course. With twilight and other discounts available, it rates high on value scale for me as an all around golf experience. It was a good place to play our final round and we agreed on recommending it.

Played today for the senior rate $50 with cart. This is a real shot makers course that has a lot of carriers over barranca's. Keep your tee shot in play and you can score well. The greens were excelle... Continue »

Played today for the senior rate $50 with cart. This is a real shot makers course that has a lot of carriers over barranca's. Keep your tee shot in play and you can score well. The greens were excellent, service was perfect, tees and fairways were also in great shape. The only issue here was the bunkers. I was in 3 today and each one was different. One was fairly nice with a small amount of sand, one was hard pan with no sand, and one had little sand with clay underneath. I am not sure why it is so hard for courses to get consistent sand in the bunkers. Is it too costly? Oh well, pace was like a private course with no one in front and one twosome behind us that didn't push us. We will be back soon.

Played 5-28-15 early morning in around 3 1/2 hours as a threesome. Played the Canyon Crest/Creekside rotation. Tee boxes were lush and mostly level. Fairways were a mix from lush to thin to some dried out areas. Rough was not that long with some small bare areas that your ball would sit down in with higher grass all around it. Greens were smooth and rolling medium speed but were very soft. Overall course is in good shape.

Played on 5/30. Round was 4.5 hours. Staff is excellent. Course great shape.
