Played Thursday, 7/14, with John_T, JohnnyGK and his brother in law. Excellent from start to finish. Began the day with lunch in the clubhouse. 1/2 lb burgers and onion rings the size of small donuts. Great food and service.

Range is all grass with plenty of stations. Large practice green which matched the on course speeds. Seperate chipping area to practice the short game. All were in great shape.

We played Canyon Crest/Ridgeline 9s. I think we got out just after the afternoon watering. Fairways and greens were wet. Overcast skies and no wind kept them from drying out. Pace was great.

Fairways were in great shape, with a few areas of repair. Rough was fine, and ran into the native areas. Fairways are pretty wide and there's not a lot of rough before the red stakes. The greens were awesome. Rolled true with little damage. Speed was hard to judge, as they looked fast, but the watering slowed them down.

Moorpark is a great course and should be outstanding for the GK outing on the 27th. "Local knowledge" pays off, as some of the tee shots look tighter than they are, or don't show the trouble lurking around the corner. Slightly difficult, especially for the shorter or less accurate hitters, so correct tee selection is a must. Definitely a must play course.

Played all 27 holes on Friday. The course was in great condition and looked terrific. Despite the moisture in the air and on the course, the greens played very fast and will test your patience.

Played Canyon Crest/Creekside early mornining on 4/28. The course is in great condition. Tee boxes, fairways and greens are great. The greens are rolling very true. But they are only medium speed. I would like them to be a little faster. The two bunkers I was in had great sand, easy to get up and down from them. I always enjoy playing at Moorpark. The conditions are as good as it gets.

MP is always a favorite even when they punch the greens. Consistently a beautiful venue. I would play it every week except for their starter guys and inability to manage 27 holes; starters are ALWAYS rude, never smile and treat you like you just paid $20 at the local Muni. They DEMAND your yellow receipt (it's 2011; that's not electronic yet?). I'm a 3.5 hour round guy and I hate being hustled to the tee before the group in front has left the first tee. Secondly, with 27 holes, they really struggle with understanding how to turn a field. First 9 could take under 2 hours with the second 9 over 3. Last time I ignored their direction and went to a alternative 9, which was wide open. Check in staff is awesome, food is excellent and their cart girls are pretty and friendly.

I was able to play Moorpark twice in the last week, thanks to some friends, and as always wasn't disappointed. The course was in great shape, the greens not quite as fast as usual, but true and holding approach shots. As expected, the greens were also very smooth and rolling as true as ever. Fairways were lush although a bit soft in front of a few greens.
Everyone working there is upbeat, friendly and genuinely concerned that your day is as good it can be.
Moorpark seldom falls short of expectations and will always be in my short list of favorites!!

Excellent golf course. Dramatic elevation changes make some of the holes a little bit ridiculous but apart from that, the golf course is of championship quality. A challenge from start to finish.

Excellent golf course. Dramatic elevation changes make some of the holes a little bit ridiculous but apart from that, the golf course is of championship quality. A challenge from start to finish.
The condition of the course was superb. With lush fairways, and smooth greens (although the greens were very grainy late in the day), Moorpark CC is an ideal choice for those who take the game seriously.
There are five sets of tees which give everyone a chance but I would still not recommend this track for beginners.
I played on the Canyon Crest and Creekside courses and both were top quality. The Creekside was more difficult and narrow, where as Canyon Crest had wide open fairways on most holes. It's just about getting your drives in play here at Moorpark CC and once that is navigated, there are some very inviting large greens to aim at.
Great GPS system on the cart that doesn't give just give you basic front, middle and back readings. The GPS identifies hazards and distances required to clear them etc. A real asset when playing a course for the first time!
Highlights were holes 3 and 4 on Creekside and 9 on Canyon Crest.
The pace was pretty slow but that's to be expected of a Sunday afternoon.
All in all, an excellent day out and I'll be back asap.

Played this morning 2/14 all three courses(Canyon, Ridgeline and Creekside)....Creekside is by far in the best shape with carpet fairways...were talking 10 on a scale of 10....all three courses the fairways were in very good shape...the greens were firmer than I remember and putted beautifully.....the rough was up some on each course and lush in certain spots.....sand was firm, wet in some places and in average to good shape...tee boxes were lush for the most part with only several par 3's having some divot damage...the staff inside the pro-shop were friendly and they have a great practice area at Moorpark. Canyon Crest gives you opportunities to score and there are several holes where you just want to hang on Creekside and Ridgeline. #7 on Creekside is one of the tougher holes in Ventura County....can't wait to play here again.

Played my favorite 9, Creekside, at Moorpark CC Thursday. Teed it up at 3:00pm as a twosome and finished in 1 hour 25 minutes! The course was as expected in fantastic condition. Green rolling true, medium/fast and holding shots like darts, fairways lush, rough lush, sand traps well maintained, tee boxes lush. The course must have exceptional drainage because I did not come across a drop of casual water. Another thing worth noting is although the course is open to public, you get country club service. Everyone is polite and professional. Highly recommended.

Played Creek and Canyon today. By far one of the best public courses in Ventura County. Course was in great condition. The greens were a little beat up, but this time of year my expectatins are lower. I hated the flag locations today because they were all on a slope. I normally play here a lot and the flag positions are usually a little easier. Staff was friendly and practice areas were top notch. Also got to put my scores in the new GK Score Tracker with the scorecard. I have never been dissapointed by this course and plan on going out again next week.
