Sunday, 2/21/10; Scramble/fundraiser. Played the Canyon Crest and Ridgeline nines. Course conditions border on immaculate. Customer service is top notch. The food was delicious as well. I wish this course was closer than 40 miles to my place.

Teed it up at Moorpark Country Club at 12:37pm on Monday. Got in 27 holes in just over 5 hours. Unlike other courses that claim to provide a “Country Club” experience to the public, Moorpark CC delivers. The course was in terrific shape. Over all the greens are some of the best around. They roll smooth, hold shots well and are fast. They are not over undulating yet challenging so good approaches are rewarded. The bunkers all contain excellent sand and are well maintained. The fairways, despite all the rain we had recently did not have many trouble spots and provided good lies all day. Furthermore, they do a great job maintaining the rough which was about 1 to 3 inches long. There is a reason Moorpark Country Club has won the Greenskeeper.org Best Playing Conditions award in Ventura County 4 of the last 5 years and 3 years in a row now…play it and you’ll find out. While you’re on the course enjoy the beautiful views and surrounding landscape. Keep the ball in play to fully appreciate the layout. Have fun!

Played this afternoon 2/8. Moorpark is in good condition. Some of the fairways were wet still due to the recent rains but were in very good shape. Never have a bad lie out here in the fairways. The rough has been grown up a bit around the greens and fairways and is lush and in good shape. I always putt well at Moorpark and love their bent greens. They were not rolling as quick as I remember from playing last time. They were holding iron shots like darts and overall were in good shape. The sand still had some wetness to it and overall was in good shape. I was in it quite a bit today and forget how much it can come into play around some of the green complexes. Moorpark CC has the best views in Ventura County...Lots of elevated tees....we played the Ridgeline-Canyon Crest Combo.....Ridgeline killed me while I ate up Canyon Crest........get out and play Moorpark CC, great course-great conditions.....there practice area and food is also very good.

Played on Saturday (1/02/09). 7.05 am time and finished about 11:15. Played Canyon Crest and Ridgeline. Greens--true and fast, they are a pleasure to putt on, no frustrating bumps and rolls. Fairways--excellent shape--the recent rains helped, but they had dried so that you got good roll. The bunkers seemed well maintained, thankfully I only noticed by look and not experience. Tee boxes-- were level. Views--outstanding, doesn't get much better for an inland course. Customer Service--nothing but praises on all levels. Great. Always love it when I play MCC.

Played Monday 12/14. Recent rains made the greens very receptive. Very little roll in the fairways. Greens were very good. Rolled well, mediium speed. Tee boxes were OK. Some were unlevel. I'm surprised by the condition of the fairways. Although they were in good shape. There were quite a few area of thin and mixed grasses. It was not as pristine as I would have expected after the overseeding in October and November. The sand was pretty wet and packed due to the rains we had. It was an enjoyable day and round. Things should be better once the fairways, greens, and bunkers dry out.

Moorpark continues to be one of the best courses in the southland. Great views, excellent service, friendly staff. Food is also worth the trip. A must play course.

Course was in pretty good shape. The greens tend to get really damaged by ball marks and might be watered a little too much. Although they don't look great they putt very true. The course plays much shorter than the listed yardage. Wind is one of the main defenses to this course, with many of the holes running along the top of the ridge line. When the wind is up it can be difficult to score. The new Canyon Crest nine is much easier than the two older nines, but can still be a challenge when the wind is up.

Played Canyon Crest and Ridgeline on Thursday 10/15. With the recent rain, the course was a bit wet. Several areas in the fairways were muddy and to be avoided. The greens were also quite soft. Anything that landed on the green stayed on. Greens were slower than normal for this course. Other than the wet areas, the fairways are in good shape. The rough is lush. Many of the tee boxes are full of plugs from the aeration. Very unsightly, but not too much of a problem for your tee shots. The sand was very packed in some areas and soft in others. This is primarily due to the recent rain. Both nines were cart path only. Once the fairways firm up, this should change. My only complaint is that they leave the fairways too long on the Canyon Crest course. A drive in the middle of the fairway seemed as if it was in light rough. Overall, the course is in pretty good shape. It should be real nice in a couple of weeks.

Why on earth would you play a course thats SUPER EXPENSIVE and completely disrespect it?

I was shocked to play a course like Moorpark and see every green devastated by ball marks. Who are you who does this?

The fairways are nice, the course is a good challenge, especially when you've never played it before.

The GPS stinks; but I'm not a fan of it anyway. Our cart was old and the brakes barely worked. But, if the greens were in good shape these things wouldn't have bothered me at all.

OVERALL, not worth the green fees if they aren't going to keep the greens in better shape. Or if they aren't policing the course correctly, I see a guy not repair 2 ball marks in a row and they should get booted.
