Great times today with Nick and Ron, fellow GKers. Nick texted me with a great offer from an online discount website and we rode in carts for our 18 holes for a mere $15.99 at 2:28 p.m. We were joined by a single walker and we made it through the round at about 4 hours due to the slower group in front of us. The course is in great shape with a few exceptions: some of the greens had some remedial work going on. Low areas on at least a couple of greens were punched and sanded, as well as some small repairs in the fairways. There was a small repair on another green that looked poor (if you had to putt over it there would be problems because it was low). Another thing to note is that several of the fairways were beat up with a lot of unfilled divots. These were mostly non-issues as it was unlikely you'd end up in a bad area as most of the course was in great shape. For less than 16 bones riding, I'd say it was well worth it.

Played here yesterday on a dizzily overcast day. We got a red hot deal on golf now for $35 with a cart. The course was in great shape in all aspects. Sure you will find some divots, ball marks, and brown areas but for the price I found it hard to beat. Would play there more often but it is an hour drive for me. If you find the deals like I did take them, you won't be disappointed.

Played on 7/3 with Queen of Wedge Woods, Clutch and Gunnz the course is in the best condition I have ever seen it. The fairways were great with almost no bare spots or hardpan, ball sat up and reminded me of playing in the down in the desert. Tee boxes were in good shape with some divots , bunkers had plenty of sand but were wet , I was only in one bunker so it could have been just that one. greens were little slow for my taste rolling 7 - 9 but were in very good condition. rough varied hole to hole on some holes rough was over 5 inches on others almost none.

Payed $38 included cart great deal. This is one of our " Go to" courses in the summer and worth the $$.

Please rake bunkers and repair your ballmarks !

Played Olivas Links Friday 7/3 with a mid morning tee time. Weather was perfect, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and 70 degrees. There was a fair amount of wind on some holes, but for the most part it was not a problem. The course is in amazing condition. I could not get over how lush and green the fairways were. They are very nice with a good cushion under every shot. These are the best fairways I've played in a long time. Tee boxes and rough were also very good. I wasn't in any sand traps so I can't comment on them. The greens were medium fast, rolled very smooth and held shots nicely. I highly recommend playing OL right now. There is no public course in So. Cal that is in better shape.

Tees: Blue

Weather: 75 degrees 10-15mph breeze

Greens 8.5/10--Highlight of the course. Have not seen Olivas's greens much nicer than this. Rolling fast for Olivas standards yet still holding shots nicely. Very little ballmarks. In great shape.

Fairways 8/10--They are in great shape, mostly lush lies.

Bunkers 8/10---Word of note if you get in some of the fairway bunkers here which I was in two of them they contain soft sand which can be a challenge to hit out of. Was in greenside bunkers on #8 and #18 beautiful raked white beach marble sand. Saw some more wet spots in the sand today in greenside bunkers(maybe sprinklers?).

Tees: 9/10---They have some of the nicest tees as far as being cut and lush like PGA tour tees would be. Only reason they don't get a 10 is some of them are slightly unlevel but that's a minor gripe---they are pretty darn perfect

Rough: 8/10--Some nice thick rough lining certain fairways--spray it real bad into some of the native areas and you are in big trouble.

No water in lakes adjoining 11/12 and 13/16. Nice practice facility, great prices and great staff---oh and the weather is 20-25 degrees cooler than Moorpark/Valley areas.

Another LA Golf Group league event today. Typical slow pace of play on a Sunday afternoon at this popular muni. I don't have a lot more to add to sixpez' review; I think he nailed it condition-wise. I paid $39 to walk, which included getting robbed $5 for a small bucket of range balls. Olivas has a nice practice area: a very large putting green, a separate chipping area, another chipping green with sand bunker, and a decent range hitting off of grass. The range looks like they have done some work here with great target greens set up and yardage plates behind the hitting area to show the distances. Exciting cool weather today; probably 25 degrees cooler than Santa Clarita. I will be sure to put this course back on my rotation as it is a great summer destination.

Played Olivas today with the LA Golf Group. Fun time as always. We came out here to beat the summer heat, but didn't expect that it would be so cold and windy (even some sprinkles of rain, too). More of a Scottish summer feel here. Though there were only a couple of places where groups got backed up and we didn't have to wait on too many shots, the overall pace felt slow and ended up being about 5 hours.

The course was as nice as I've seen it condition-wise from tee to green. The tee boxes were excellent and the fairways were great. The first cut of rough not much of a factor here, but obviously the native areas are to be avoided because you never know what you might be faced with. I was in a couple bunkers and they were fantastic. The greens were a little softer and slower than on previous visits to Olivas, but smooth and well-kept. There was just some extra moisture in the air today, so all the grass was a bit "sticky." Gave things a little more lush feel, but nothing quite running out as much as normal.

Always enjoy myself at Olivas. I always expect to score well here because it seems so forgiving, but can never quite put all the pieces together for a great round. The wind and cold didn't help the score much today either!
