Rode the blues this afternoon 1-30-2017 on my home course (71.6-128-6628) with my buddies Steve, Mack and Mack's buddy Brian on a beautiful low 70's day with just a slight 5-10mph breeze at times. POP was 4 hours 45 minutes taking our time waiting on some holes for the 3 some in front of us. We paid $32.00 each which is their riding twilight rate Monday thru Thursday. The recent rain storms really did not lush or green up the fairways. They have a little more padding to them but would still call them thinner dormant grass, You get a ton of roll out here at present time. The course just plain needs more water. Rated 5-10 The rough was green, lush and thick around some of the green complexes. Lining the fairways it is thin, clumpy at times or just hardpan. Rated 4-10 The greens are in very good shape. Warning they are very firm and hard and at present time. If you are not spinning the ball or have a high trajectory the greens can be hard to hold. You need to play accordingly by landing irons with spin in front of the pins. I thought the greens rolled pure and true. I have seen them actually quicker than today but rolling very nicely. Very few ball marks. Rated an 8-10 The tees are level, lush and in good shape. Rated 8-10 Was in greenside bunker on 3 and 18 contained just enough sand, more compact but easy to splash out of. Really have to loft the SW prior to contact with these bunkers. Rated 6-10. Very friendly staff, good twilight prices--if you can stand semi-hardpan links golf fairways and like nice challenging greens this is your place.

Played Rustic on Tuesday, 1/10/17 mid-morning. After a slightly soggy start with gentle light rain, it turned out to be a nice day. Temps were 50's to 60, and dry after about 11am. The greens were running pretty slow for the first 9 due to them being a little wet. They sped up in the afternoon. They rolled nicely, and, as usual, they were difficult to read. The bunkers were in good shape, with plenty of sand. Tee boxes were mostly lush and green. The rough is spotty, with some longer grass, but mostly clumpy with some bare areas. The fairways were disappointing. I don't mind the yellowish color. That is to be expected with winter conditions. However, the fairways are VERY thin. There is little to no cushion under the ball. There are some areas in the fairway that have clumpy grass or no grass. The boundaries of the fairways are very clumpy and have many bare areas. Although playable, the fairways need more grass. It was an enjoyable and challenging round.

Played 11-29-16 on there twilight rate of $22 to walk. Went out as a single a little before noon and finished in a little over 3 hours with some minor waiting on a very windy day. Tee boxes were very lush, level and in really good shape. Fairways were in okay shape, a little thin and dry with a lot of roll out, but always had a good lie. Rough is what you get at Rustic, thin clumpy and bare spots along fairways, lush, green, and thick around the greens. Was not in any bunkers, but sand was raked and looked in descent shape. Greens were in very nice shape, semi-firm, rolling smooth and fast. Overall course is in good shape.

Out at my home course this afternoon 11/21/2016 walking the blues as a single joined by a nice couple. I paid $22.00 which was their twilight rate and our POP was 4 hrs 30 minutes behind multiple groups on a beautiful high 60's day with no wind--perfect golf weather! Rustic has very nice staff, driving range with mats and a nice quick putting green and separate chipping area by driving range.

The greens were in very good shape. I noticed today that the back nine greens were quicker and firmer. I just love the challenge of the greens here--they had 4-5 pins today that were tucked. The greens were rolling perfect--holding shots nicely and did not contain to many ballmarks. Rated an 8/10

The tees are super lush, mostly all level and in very good shape. This is the nicest that I have seen the tees. Rated 8.5/10.

The greenside rough is very lush, green and thick. The fairway rough is dry and thin. Overall rating 7/10.

The fairways here are dry and thin and even with the heavy rains last night had ample roll out. As previous review stated this place drains well. Overall fairway rating 6/10.

The sand looks firm and compact. Was only in one bunker 11 greenside that was raked and contained just enough sand.

One of the most secluded, beautiful and peaceful back nines in the county.

Rustic is in good shape--check it out.

Played here today after a very nice overnight rainstorm. We Teed off at 7:30 with cloudy skies and ended our round in 4.5 hours walking with perfect blue skies. I will attest that Rustic drains exceptionally good. The course conditions were overall good to very good. The fairways were a little thin and patchy and so was the rough. The bunkers were wet from all the rain and hard packed. The tees were all level and the greens were the highlight. The rolled pure although had a touch of sand still evident, they were simi fast and held shots well. We had a very enjoyable day today except for one thing.....after we turned in a lost head cover and had a quick beer, one bag from our group was stolen just outside the restaurant. We filed a police report are were told that a few things have been stolen there recently so beware!

Played 11-9-16 for $22 twilight rate, joining a threesome and finishing in about 4 hours. Tee boxes were lush and level with minor divots on three pars. Fairways were thin and a little firm with a lot of roll out, but still gave good lies. Rough around greens was long and thick while fairway rough is almost non existent with a lot of bare areas. Greens were in great shape firm, smooth, and fast.

Walked the blues this afternoon 11/7/2016 1st twilight group out at 12 noon joined by a very nice single Stephen from Sweden(he had never played Rustic before so he got the grand tour from a local). We played the front in a little over an hour and the back we got stuck behind some 4somes from 13 on. We still finished in a shade over 3 hrs 35 minutes with perfect weather(no wind) and low 80's for temps. I paid $22.00 which is their standard twilight walking rate.

The greens are super healthy, green, very little to no ball marks and for Rustic's standards are putting medium slow. Rated 8/10

The tees are in GREAT shape--overseed coming in nicely--super lush, mostly all level Rated 8.5/10

The fairways are 50/50 thin/lush and in pretty decent shape. With more rain and water hopefully this winter they will lush up some. Still get some nice roll on drives. Rated 6.5/10

The rough is very nice, green and lush around the green complexes. Its a little spottier around the fairways--overall in above average shape. Rated 7.5/10.

Rustic is really looking nice right now--saw a bunch of maintenance workers on the front nine. Very great twilight prices. Recommended.

Got out today with some friends and POP was just under 4 hours. Most likely because no one was there. We got out 45 minutes before our scheduled time and totally enjoyed the weather (no wind at all) and the course. Maintenance had the course in great shape. Tee boxes were clean, mowed and level; sand traps clean and playable; fairways provided great lies and roll out; greens and aprons were spotless and chipped/putted great. Customer service at all levels was excellent. Always enjoy playing at Rustic Canyon.

Out again this afternoon 10/24/2016 walking the blue tees on a beautiful day for golf mid 70's with a slight breeze. I walked the front nine in an hour and 30 minutes and then got held up by a slower foursome the last 5-6 holes and finished just a shade under 4 hours. Used the last of my bday gift card so another free round fit the bill. The tees have really come in nicely. The overseed on the tees have them lush and green and they are always mostly all level. The tees are in some of the best shape I have seen them in. Rated 8/10. The greens were in great shape again. Firm, holding irons like darts and rolling beautiful. Highlight of the course--super should be proud of the greens. Rated an 8.5/10. Fairways a bit more lush this Monday--still get a ton of roll. Would call them semi-lush. Rated 6.5/10. Rough is green, lush and thick around some of the green complexes and in good shape. Was not in any of the bunkers today, they always look compact and raked. Great staff in the pro-shop, great prices and a great layout. I would highly recommend Rustic right now.
